About this property

Secluded authentic Log Cabin sits on 4 acres of peace and quiet. You will feel like you are being transported to a place back in time but with the modern conveniences of electricity and in door plumbing. The cabin consists of an open main floor with a kitchenette, 3/4 bath and living room areas. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed and these are nestled in the loft.
The deck over looks the praire and the bon fire pit. There are short trails for walking. The nearest house is 1/2 mile down the road. New Ulm and St Peter are short drives.

Stepping back

Loved the freah air and sounds of nature. Just the basics, but all the basics were there. It was a step back in tme and step out into a more simple time. Loved it.

Quiet and secluded.

It was what we expected in the cabin but the property was nicer and more remote than we expected which was nice. It would be a nice place to stay with a family if the kids were willing to camp outside. We would stay. There again.

Picturesque spot in the country

Happy I stayed here on my business trip, even with the drive to town. Well kept property and very cozy little cabin. Great host that takes the time to make sure everything is setup properly. Rustic and minimal amenities, but that's what I was after.

Great refuge after a long drive

Super sweet property with great space for our dog, Miles! The outdoor space was beautiful and a great place to land after 9 hours in the car.

Peaceful little cabin

We loved the Den. It was blazing hot outside but very comfortable inside. My dog loved being able to run around and explore. The fireflies were amazing, we spent evenings on the back porch watching them. It was a perfect 2 day get away! Paula was a great host.

We had a delightful 2 night respite at the cabin. It felt good to disconnect and enjoy family time. The fireflies were the highlight.

We LOVE The Den!

Our stay was awesome! We were looking for a weekend to relax, recoup, unplug, and explore. We have a 5 year old son and also brought our 9 year old nephew. The boys had a great time climbing trees, exploring the woods, looking for critters(they found a possum,evidence of bear and deer!), chasing fire flies, playing bags, and much more. It was so nice to not hear "can I watch tv" for 3 whole days! There was a bit of an issue the first night. The water smelled really strong of rotten eggs. I grew up on a well so thag didn't bother me. But in the night that smell kept waking me up. I was a bit concerned of excess of sewer gas on the air. I called Paula at about 1:30am. She called back right away and had a plumber out first thing in the morning. Her concern and responsiveness was great! The issue was resolved. The only other thing that was slightly disappointing is that the play house was not really able to be played in. There was a huge hole in the roof and looked like mildew or mold. So the boys were a little disappointed about that. But there was plenty else to do. Overall it was a great experience. The only thing the property is missing is a little fishing pond or stream! We will be back! Thank you!

Vacation

We enjoyed the cabin and the weekend. We followed the trails, sat on the deck, and had s’mores by the fire pit. It was quiet and very relaxing. The cabin was great. I do wish that there was info of the history of the house. We plan on staying agin.

Authentic cabin experience

We had a cozy stay at Paula's cabin. Wish we would have had more time to spend, arrived after dark and had to leave by 9 am. Unique stay that would be great for couples or families. Beautiful setting! Hope to stay again when we have more time.

Tranquil and private retreat

The Den is lovely - a quaint old cottage tucked back in a Grove between acres of farmland. The back porch is unbelievable and the wood stove and fire pit are great for cool nights. Nice bamboo pillows and comfortable beds. Beware that the loft stairs are quite narrow, but it wasn't a huge problem for us. This is a cabin; cobwebs and critters may be part of the deal. Other than some flies trying to warm up, we didn't have any issues. This is a uniquely wonderful and private retreat. I will be booking again.

Sister weekend

Everything was fantastic. So easy to get comfortable and want to stay again. Fire wood easy to get to and enjoyed the fire pit very much. The only thing was the mini fridge was hard to get into if the door could be flipped to other side that would make it easier. Bring your own water for sure as it does have a smell to it but it's fine for the hot showers. All around great place.

Quiet little get away

This is a lovely quiet property with a rustic cabin with some modern conveniences. I wish we had been told about the water right away and the need to bring bath towels when we booked it. As it is a rustic cabin you will have spider friends join you. We did loose power one night but Paula was very responsive when we notified her to tell the power company. Something out of her control but handled very well. Property was close to the reason we were in the area.

Tranquil respite

We needed a place that we could keep our puppy closer to us while we were playing at the Brown County Fair. The Den popped up as a suitable option and wow was that a stroke of luck. This tranquil respite was exactly what I needed to unwind from life...even our puppy wanted to stay longer. It was so peaceful that we spent the morning sipping coffee outside just listening to the birds in the shade of the beautiful trees. This is a wondeful rustic retreat for anyone looking to unplug from the busy of daily life. I wish we had booked the entire weekend so we could have stayed longer to take advantage of the firepit and continued to enjoy the peaceful grounds. Paula was a wondeful host and a great communicator. Thank you for helping us take a relaxing break.
