Beautifully quiet

Away from the hustle and bustle, very quiet country cottage. Had a pony and a donkey that visited over the fence a couple of times. Gorgeous at night with the moreporks and the "dark sky" area. Comfotable bed, nice and warm, little fireplace and an amazing shower. All-in-all, a very pleasant little place.

Great retreat, so peaceful.

Quiet solitude

It was raining and cold outside when I got there but there but the fire going when I got inside, how awesome! Loved my time out from the busy world, silence except for the birds and the occasional cow mooing. Perfect! Also, awesome after service when I left some of my stuff behind, really appreciated how lovely they were to deal with

The McDonald Family moved to Rangiwahia in 2009. They arrived as a family of six and have expanded to a family of twelve. Hamish and Orelle chose to home-educate their growing family and as a result, each of the children have been hands-on developing the land, buildings, gardens, animal husbandry, machinery and most anything that pertains
to the country living lifestyle.
Ngarimu Retreat is part of a cluster of businesses that financially supports the McDonald Family and the whole-life services they pursue.

Why they chose this property

Ngarimu Retreat was designed and built by Hamish and Orelle McDonald in 2022.
The retreat is part of a larger vision of regeneration and service, entrusted to the McDonalds by the previous owners Robert and Prudence Wakelin.
