About this property

Lovely and graced with vintage charm, as well as all of the modern conveniences, you need only step outside the front door to find endless opportunities to explore, hike, bike, swim, or just breathe in the ocean air and refresh.

This location is "over the top" family friendly! Shearwater cottage is a 15 minute stroll walk to the white sands of Pemaquid beach. There you'll find more of the Atlantic (yes the big ocean). Beachcomber nature center offers conservation based activities for young minds, Mimi's By The Beach offers lunch and dinner, as well as lots and lots of sand and lingering sunsets.

This four bedroom, three and a half bath beauty was recently built with an authentic Maine vibe and comfort in mind. Two levels of "shiplapped" charm include an open living area with vaulted ceiling and lots of windows~an invitation to natural light and views of the beautiful secluded wood setting.

The kitchen was created for chefs on vacation by chefs, two decks, a walk out basement with entertainment system and game room.

There's more to enjoy on the outside including a grill, fire pit, horseshoe pit, and of course everyone's favorite-cornhole! Oh and it also includes a view of the Milky Way and ten billion stars (quite likely but not guaranteed.)

This home is year round and can be rented with a three night minimum from November - May.

Family Vacation in Lovely Pemaquid

Our family of 9 enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home! Rooms were larger than expected, and we all had plenty of room to gather or find a quiet place to rest. There were plenty of linens and kitchen supplies. We enjoyed the fire pit one evening. Property is located on a private lot just a short walk from the Pemequid Trail. There are many things to enjoy nearby including Pemaquid Beach, Pemaquid Lighthouse, Fort William Henry, Hardy Boat, New Harbor, LaVerna Preserve and more. There is a small well stocked grocery store and ice cream shop nearby as well. It is well located for day excursions to many other locations. We had good communication with the property manager. We would definitely return to this home in the future! The only thing I would mention is that there aren't blinds or curtains on the windows. The home is surrounded by woods, so privacy isn't so much of a issue as the light coming in early on a summer morning. Perhaps bring eye masks if you are sensitive to light. :)

Another great year!

This is the third year we stayed at Shearwater. It is the perfect space for my little family and for my parents and sister to visit as well. We love the privacy, the woods and the proximity to the beach. Thank you again for another lovely and relaxing week.

Wonderful home away from home!

My family had a wonderful time at this beautiful, well appointed home. It looks like it was built and decorated by Joanna and Chip Gaines! It was very comfortable and modern. We had a wonderful relaxing vacation here! Recommend!

Wonderful Private House Close to Ocean and other sites in area

I have been going to Pemaquid Point for over 40 years and this house was by far the nicest I have rented in area. Like new, spacious living area and bedrooms, beautiful kitchen and multiple bathrooms. House is at end of a road and secluded but quick walk down street and you are taking morning walks by water on Pemaquid Trail. Hosts were always available and quick to answer any questions before and during stay. Already booked next year!

Beautiful property near many attractions

This house is beautiful with plenty of room and comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. It is about a 20 minute walk to the beach. We drove so we could bring our gear. Dogs next store barked at all hours, which was unfortunate, and bedrooms need curtains.

Perfection!

We spent an awesome week at this home with our two dogs and could not have asked for a better experience. The house was spotless, had everything we needed for the week, and is conveniently located minutes away from the local grocery store and restaurants. The owners are a pleasure to work with and we can't wait to return!

Clean and peaceful getaway

Perfect mid-Coast location with wonderful hosts - Beth and Warren really put in special touches (I had fresh Zinnias in my bedroom, fresh hydrangea decorated the porch, lots of throw blankets, plenty of towels, umbrella by the door) with a very thoughtful and well-equipped home. Everything was well stocked and logical to access. Easy walk down the road and through a trail to get to the water - took the dog there daily for a good walk. Super nice neighborhood with friendly residents - met quite a few while dog walking (including Beth!) and everyone is so friendly and helpful. House is peaceful and relaxing, very well decorated, completely private, with quick access to the beach. It is surrounded by beautiful Maine woodlands, complete with red squirrels, moss, a crazy variety of mushrooms, and wild turkeys. Beth and Warren even had the fire pit ready to go. Would be great for families as there are extra bunk beds and a TV downstairs for the kids. Highly recommend this property.

Secluded Luxury

The newly constructed house was very comfortable. It was beautifully decorated and very clean. The open concept is bright and inviting with high ceilings and whitewashed pine all around. The forest setting was quiet. The kitchen was perfectly suited for gourmet dinners. Frequent visitors were a flock of turkeys and deer. Thanks Warren for a wonderful stay!

Gorgeous modern setting. Quiet location. The house was so clean and fully stocked with everything we needed to cook. We were able to make dinner almost every night and felt right at home! We had a great week and would definitely consider renting again!

Even better than the listing

Shearwater cottage is by far the nicest VRBO we have stayed in yet. It’s quite spacious and could easily sleep 10 people. The house was very clean and comfortable. You never feel like it’s a rental, and feel at home immediately. It is beautifully decorated and all the beds were comfortable to sleep in. The kitchen is super functional for those wanting to cook on vacation. It is in a secluded area that is very quiet at night and has a spacious yard for kids or the dog to run around in. Once you leave the house you’ll find tons of friendly neighbors out walking the main road. The local area is quiet and not commercial. It is located very close to Pemaquid Beach, Fort William Henry and the Pemaquid Lighthouse. There is not much shopping around but there is a grocery store and a beautiful craft co-op as well. The house and owner were fantastic and we enjoyed our stay!

A home away from home

I had a fantastic stay here with my kids and our pup. Warren's house was exceptionally clean and well-stocked with the essentials. While it was just the four of us, the property felt even more spacious than expected! I am sure it could easily accommodate a much larger party. The space was perfect for little kids. They loved the big basement and I loved that they couldn't get into much trouble. Finally, Warren is an exceptional host; easy to contact, friendly and a great authority on Maine, especially the food. As someone who loves cooking (and eating!), I appreciated that. We can't wait to come back.

Beautiful home

This was an amazing home! It has lots of space, is beautifully decorated and has everything you need to cook a meal. It is in a great neighborhood. There is a very nice market a few minutes away. I would definitely rent this house again in the future!!

Magic

From the moment you drive up the short gravel path to Shearwater, you know you're going to fall in love. The house is beautifully appointed with lots of local touches reflecting Pemaquid Point like the lovely art on the walls. The house has an airy, modern farm house feel. The downstairs is like a man cave with an amazingly comfortable couch to watch tv, read, or play games. There's a washer/dryer for laundry; the shower pressure is strong; the dishwasher and kitchen have all the utensils you need. I have honestly never slept better -- I think the peaceful setting in amongst the trees reset my circadian rhythms. About a quarter of a mile from the house is a lovely road you can take long walks on and the ocean is right beside you. The beach is about a mile away, but a very easy walk. Entrance to the beach can cost $4/person, but it's to help maintain the environment, so I'm not going to begrudge it. There's also a resident's entrance, however, that you can take. You can buy your provisions at C. E. Reilly & Sons, a quaint grocery story that's only 1.5 miles away (we sometimes walked) and you can grab ice cream at Harbor Ice Cream (right next to Reilly's, we usually walked to and from). Shop for local crafts at the Pemaquid Co-op and DEFINITELY eat at The Contented Sole, which is owned by the owners of Shearwater and also offers amazing fish tacos. You can eat inside or out on the deck. Also, don't deprive yourself of baked good from The Abundant Cafe. They open at 8:00 am, but sell out quickly. Everything is amazing, but I think the blueberry corn muffins were out of this world. This place was magic!
