Brilliant

We chose this place as we wanted to be close to the start of Death Valley next day. On our arrival we were greeted by a wonderful staff member on reception who gave us a run down on the area and suggestions for an alternative scenic route to Death Valley which we took the next day. It is the kind of Motel you could spend more than overnight.

Excellent Lodge style accommodation

We found this to be extremely pleasant and comfortable with a brewery/pub and restaurant right next door. Also a Gas station on hand which was a blessing as we had driven for the last five miles on 'empty'!

I have received continuous emails and texts since my stay a week ago asking for a review, so i guess i need to leave a review so that i will be left alone. The room was freezing cold when we entered, a window was left wide open. The hot water never got hot enough to shower without being fully covered in goosebumps. There were no cups to make coffee with. If you want to book a cozy room to stay in after a chilly day of fishing, this is not the place. Got really weird vibes here. Not as nice as the photos. The only upside was the convenient location. I wasnt going to even leave a review but i greatly dislike spam and being bugged for a review, so here we are.

We were expecting a queen bed and a full but the queen looked about the same size as the full. We could have used more paper towels in the kitchen and more tissue paper in the bathroom. When I went to the office it was always empty of a person. When I called the number on the door for more tissue paper I never heard back. We didn,t have any wifi, they said they were having issues. Our room needed some TLC, like a few small holes in the walls, the flooring in the kitchen messed up in places, one electrical outlet was half gone and the smoke alarms had been taken down. I did like how big the room was and it was cute. I liked how we were really close to restaurants, a good variety of them and the ones we tried had good food. I liked how we had a parking space right in front of our room.

Cute Motel with potential but…

The place is really cute on the exterior and interior. They have an outdoor chess board you can play with, lights, a pool, a fire pit and Halloween decorations. The issues: The problem was when we got there after check-in they were still cleaning the room so we left and came back twice until they finished. The room smelled great and all surfaces were wiped clean. Also, there was mud/dirt, crumbs, and a pill underneath the bed and was discovered when our toddler dropped his toys and went to find them. I just wish they would’ve cleaned the entire room because my rating would’ve changed.

The manager Bruce went above and beyond to make our stay at the Kern Lodge. It was a pleasure to see a manager(Bruce) so hands on. From doing esthetic maintainance, to assisting his guests with guidance of the local area, and even helping out open a locked door with the key on the wrong side of it. I can't wait to stay again. This was my fourth stay this year and most memorable. Thank you to the staff of the Kern Lodge.
