UK 2017 Trip Epping Forrest

Windows were wide open when we entered the room, found out why as the room was stinking hot all the time, pipes around 2 sides of the room emitting so much heat. We turned off the radiator initially entering the room thinking it was this making the room so hot, but no it wasn't. Left the windows open when went to dinner, thinking would cool down, but didn't really - we were so tired after so much travelling just wanted to sleep so didn't bother going to reception to complain. Restaurant was empty, seemed no one else eating, table had been sat at though at some point as some pieces of cutlery missing on our & another tables & napkins. Table didn't appear to have been wiped. Meal was so long in serving, which seemed odd as there was only us in the restaurant, when it was served appeared the chef served himself and took to the bar area walking right past us. Reception staff we ok, but at one point when there was a chap there took him sometime to acknowledge me, before dealing with my issue. Bathroom so small, lots of cracked/chipped tops, bench area. Looked like at some point a new basin had been installed, crap seal work around basin to bench, same with safety handle on side of bath not professional at all & you couldn't even get 1 finger between the handle and bath, don't think even a child's fingers could fit - it was useless. As I said he bathroom was too small as was the shower area, no room to turn around and the bath so high to step into the shower.

Do not stay here

Booked Deluxe Room no lift to Deluxe rooms, No internet at compter station in lobby. Very poor cook on breakfast duty, soggy bacon soggy hashbrowns dried up baked beans, No working coffee machine two days, no fruit yoghurt or fruit on last morning, most of the staff didn't care except one girl in breakfast room from Bulgaria

Hotel staff

Hotel staff were always friendly and helpful, the rooms were small but clean and tidy. The only disappointment was the room service meals, they were very average.

Disappointed

It is too far out of London if you have to use public transport which involves a bus trip and two trains. It is also very noisy in the lobby which is the only place one can use the wifi.

Tired, dated and staff issues.

The location is decent with access to central line underground stations fairly close by. The ability of staff when we were there to fully communicate in English was an issue for us. We booked breakfast on the day of arrival for the next morning but there was a dispute as to whether this was done - though the issue was resolved. Walls were paper thin in our room and we could hear other guests clearly, which was offputting. Value for money for the location was just about acceptable, but a bit more searching on the 'net would probably have yielded a better hotel for the money.

Excellent location and the staff were very helpful and polite. Hotel is rather "tired" - plumbing is noisy and very poor tv and phone reception.

Overall it was a pleasant stay but the hot breakfast that we paid for was not consumable and I'm not at all a fussy eater and don't have much expectations.
