Unimpressed

Hand towels/bath mats / facewashers not replaced. We were "upgraded" to a studio room which was in worse condition with a much smaller bathroom than a standard room. No free wifi. Staff were not overly friendly. The continental breakfast was appalling.

Needs a renovation urgently

This is a well located apartment style hotel in 52nd st. Ir is rated by expedia as 4 star. This is impossible to agree with. The hotel needs a renovation from foyer to rooms to justify the rating and price. The staff do their best but are working with a sub standard product. We booked a suite which was large as advertised but the fittings, full kitchen did not provide the basics a what is needed when you book a full kitchen. Plates, glasses for at least 4 people and basic pots pans etc for preparing meals should be the minimum. We intended to do some minor entertaining for a few people for dinner, but the lack of utensils and the overall appearance saw us cancel any plans to invite friends to the suite.

Good location, not so good hotel

Great location as a lot of landmarks in NY are only a few mins walk away which was helpful but the hotel itself wasnt very comfortable and the staff werent very helpful or welcoming. Elevators were extremely slow with only one running pretty much most of the time, take note ask for a lower floor or be prepared to wait ages especially in the mornings. Simple things like room service menus werent present and when we queried room service about an issue we had to repeatedly chase them up as they never called back. Hotel didnt have laundry facilities on site which made it difficult to clean clothes. The "free" continental breakfast still requires you to tip (no choice) and there was no hot food or much variety to choose from. Overall the hotel is in a great location but would not recommend as a hotel you wish to enjoy and be comfortable in for the price you have to pay.

Flatotel - Heart of Manhattan

Flatotel is right in the very heart of Manhattan. With a fabulous location, only a 5 minute walk from Rockfeller Centre, Radio City, Shopping on 5th Avenue, Broadway shows and Times Square. Rooms are not your average hotel size - they are very spacious and more than comfortable, with great views of Manhattan. Our room was always clean and fresh towels and linen provided. Hotel staff were very polite and welcoming - our stay was very enjoyable, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to be right in the heart of Manhattan.

Wonderful stay and great value

Just returned from a trip to New York City and stayed at the Flathotel. I booked a King Deluxe room as there was a special offer going through Expedia. The room was enormous, complete with a couch, wardrobe, microwave oven, refrigerator and air-conditioner. It was quite warm in NYC, so the A/C worked brilliantly to cool the room. The bed was comfortable and perfectly clean. Location was excellent, a five minute walk and you're in Times Square. It's very close to the Ed Sullivan (The Late Show)theatre if you know your way around New Yourk. Bathroom was very clean and useable and great selection of toiletries. Wi-Fi access was available from the lobby only but this was fine for me. Reception service was great assistance for a ticketing enquiry. Yes, the lifts are a little slow and the bar is over-priced if you just need a coke but these are very minor issues. Note that my comments are for the King Deluxe room - standard rooms may not be as well furnished.

OK hotel. Get what you pay for.

My key card didn't work when I returned around 1am one night. Most hotels just give you a new card but this hotel had to get security and an engineer just to get my door to open. Took about 30 minutes.

Store rom, fin beliggenhet, behagelige senger

Dette hotellet ligger midt i smørøyet for dem som liker NY storbyfølelse, det er lyder fra byen som aldri sover. For oss som liker Byer så gir dette hotellet en storbyfølelse. det var litt trekkfult fra vinduene og tv var veldig gammledags, men vi hadde ikke dra tt NY for å se på tv. Portieren bar kofferter til vårt rom og fikset taxi for oss når vi skulle dra. det var kjøleskap på rommet og det var fint i forhold til å oppbevare mat og drikke på rommet. det var en liten kiosk i resepsjonen også. Bra hotel, ville dratt ddit igjen.

location was very nice, close to most everything we wanted to see. had minor problems w/ the tv and the safe, but they were quickly resolved. would have been a little more impressed had the restaurant / bar been open, but when you're this close to times square, what does it matter? would definitely stay here again.

Excellent Location

The hotel is pretty good for all the usual things I look for - clean, comfortable, price. I think the best thing is the location...just a few mins walk to be in the middle of Times Square, or 5th Ave in the other direction. The hotel needs a bit more going on in the lobby to identify itself as a hotel (it looks more the the lobby of an office building) but other than that I have no complaints and would stay here again. Would recommend the 24 hour deli just outside on 7th Ave (next door to Rosie O'Grady's on the corner) for a quick sandwich!!

Large, comfortable rooms

Enjoyed our stay very much, although the hotel and rooms are in need of minor updates. A fresh coat of paint and some artwork on the walls would do wonders! The kitchen was fabulous and had all the conveniences. Bathrooms are newly remodeled, warm and spacious. We were upgraded to a suite because our room wasn't ready at check-in. Wow, what a huge living room! Overall, it was a great value for NYC. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
