The rooms are very small as this was my first trip to Tokyo I have nothing to compare it to Breakfast was pastries which were fresh You had to return the key every time you went out then get it back when you returned meaning waiting for the lift twice each time. Great location very close to Ueno Station and park

Great Location

Extremely central location close to Ueno Station. Small but clean room. Free simple breakfast and friendly staff. Can't ask for more. Will come back.

A comfortable stay

Great location close to ueno station Room is fairly comfortable. Just a bit tight if you have more than a piece of luggage each. Location was close to the Jr station - look for signs to the iriya exit

Good hotel close to Ueno Park

This hotel is good value for a short stay in Tokyo. Only 5 minutes walk from JR Ueno Station so you can use your Japan Rail Pass all the way there from the airport or other cities. Breakfast was included (toast, croissants, cereal, juice, coffee and tea). Wi fi is good. The hotel has a large sign outside. Check out at 12 pm was good and they stored our bags for the day. The room was not large but was clean and comfortable.

Best experience

We can highly recommend this beautiful Ryokan. From the welcome to the food, rooms and the onsen. An absolutely unforgettable experience. Only wished we stayed for longer than one night. It's such stunning surroundings.

Convenient and excellent value!

Everything you could ask for in a hotel: convenient, clean, friendly staff. They also have decent amenities like free hot tea and coffee which was super helpful when we came back from a long day out. Room was comfortable, clean and cosy. The cleaning services was top notch-on the days we asked to 'Please Do Not Disturb' ie no need to clean, the maid would still supply fresh towels! Breakfast is basic bread, coffee and cereal but I personally still really enjoyed it as it was heaps filling. I would definitely recommend people stay here.

OK hotel in great part of Tokyo

Loved being in Ueno and was about five mins walk from station so very convenient. Best part was being just far enough away that the noise from the busy nightlife didnt affect us trying to sleep. Unfortunately the beds were really really uncomfortable and this was a big let down and not something we could look past in our memory of this hotel.

Small rooms but good location

Hotel was in a great location near the Ueno train station and park but the rooms were a little smaller then expected. The service however was good and the rooms clean. Overall good for the price.

Noisy but great location

Hotel is so convenient with railway, bullet-train and subway to almost everywhere. But beware no block-out curtains, hard pillow and bed also the Highway can be outside the window so sirens, traffic, noisy cars and announcements. You won't get much sleep. Bathroom isn't moldy and have great hot water to freezing cold. We knew Japan had small hotel rooms so we were not surprised but we thought we had booked a bigger room so check you got the right room before you book. The room is sufficient for most of your needs. Cleaners are so nice and do such a fantastic job. They leave clean towels and robes outside your door when you leave a 'don't disturb sign' on the door. They also don't clean until late in the morning if you are in the room. Reception staff are mostly friendly and helpful. Most speak good English and understand your requests.

Conveniently located to airport

We only stayed one night as we were travelling on to Kyoto the next day. I chose the hotel for its location; it was easy to get there from the airport and to get to Tokyo station. It was really easy to follow Google Maps to get there from Ueno station and it was only one block away. It was a bit crowded in the elevator and the staff seemed a bit grumpy. The room was a bit small but pretty normal for Tokyo. The bathroom was the nicest I saw in Japan. There are lost of restaurants nearby. For what we needed it was fine.

Sutton place Hotel ueno

Very convenient to Ueno station and the hotel was comfortable. Downsides were the room was small and there was no closet to hang clothes. Breakfast area a little pokey and as it was adjacent to the reception it was not possible to eat in privacy.

Sutton Place Hotel Ueno Tokyo - Convenient Locatio

Very easy to get to from Narita airport. Catch the Skyliner and you're there in 40 mins. 5 - 10 min walk from the station. Ueno is a less touristy, more locals area. Didn't have much of a chance to check out the area, but it seemed like there was a bit going on. Very close to the JR station, so you can get to Shinjuku in 25min. Also close to 2 subway lines. Rooms are small, as expected in Tokyo. Walls in the room needed a fresh coat of paint. But apart from that, the hotel was very sufficient if you don't want to stay in the heart of the touristy areas.
