Worst Hotel Ever

Worst Hotel we have ever stayed in - dirty, tired and overpriced. Would never recommend to anyone

A lovely big resort with a fabulous pool, white sandy beaches, lots of activities available and a good choice of restaurants. Very quiet so lacks a bit in atmosphere - on the plus side, you are likely to have the pool to yourselves. Resort could do with a revamp as starting to get a bit shabby in places.

Wonderful & very comfortable resort

We booked Bintan Lagoon Resort (BLR) for a 4-night stay in Jan 2018. Unfortunately, due to condensation on the floor because of the Aircon, my Mum had a nasty fall and hurt her back. However, the Manager and the Resident doctor and his team were very helpful.

We stayed here 4 yrs ago so decided to return. Pools are great. But a lot of the activities were out of order. Ok for small kids. But wouldn't recommend for 10yrs above. A bit of maintenance work is required. Restaurants are great. We left early as our kids 14 and 12 where bored they where either to old or to young for the activities on offer.

Great villa, good for kids, most things overpriced

We stayed in Bungavil Villa - was great setup and handy having golf cart. Whole resort is getting a bit tired and old, but still generally nice and we will go back. Everything is overpriced which is a shame as it makes it less accessible to most people. Staff were nice, but things always took about double what they said it would.

NOT a 5 star resort!!!

We stayed for 4 days, 3 nights & were very disappointed with the state of our villa and found the food prices to be exhorbitant & serving sizes to be very small. $10. for a can of coke! And the chilli crab came with ONE tiny bun for dipping in the sauce! We ordered chilli prawns and got 4 prawns propped up on some potato wedges to make the dish look more substantial. The buggy that came with the villa had one missing headlight & a broken front seat. We were then given another buggy which worked well but was taken by a staff member while we were at breakfast! And the buggy we got after that had no parking brake! The tv reception was poor & there was no hot water in the master ensuite despite their maintenance guy coming out to fix it! The villa was also quite run down, with splintered wood at the bottom of the doors and stained curtains & shower curtains, squeaky cupboard doors, only one working element on the stovetop, a smashed BBQ outside, and the list goes on! The resort's private beach had so much rubbish washed up on the sand, it didn't really entice you to have a swim! Thankfully the pools were clean so you could cool off there! For a 5 star resort, we found it very lacking especially since we paid 5 star prices!!!! Very disappointed and won't be going back or recommending it to friends!

To expensive, rude staff and nothing to do

This place is WAAAY to expensive, there was nothing to do (i.e Monsun season which i did not know about so all the water activities are closed until March) No body told me that, in addition the prices are again very high and you cant eat anywhere else than on the hotel as it is so far away from everything. Overall It was not a good hotel and I would absolutely not recommend it.

Give it a miss

Stayed here 4 years ago and loved it, it has gone way down hill from there. No shuttle buses, local taxis not allowed on site, tours are marked up dramatically over booking direct and not many tours offered at all. Hamburger and chips and a drink for 2 cost 1Million IDR. Eat at local markets for 2 with drinks 80k IDR. 2/3 of lifts we could use were not functioning for 5 day stay. Can of coke was 90k IDR. Facilities were run down, no power water sports offered. It felt like you were trapped on site so they could milk you for you were worth. So very disappointed, glad to leave and head back to Singapore to restore faith in local area.

Hotel is very nice, looks magical, many facilities

Staff friendly, hotel facilities excellent and clean, beach very warm and clean. the only downside is that food and drinks are extremely expensive and not worth the money we paid. food and drinks should be more affordable. during Christmas and New years the food prices doubled in already expensive rates. Nowhere else to eat but at the resort and you are limited to hotel transport which is also expensive. Everything else is excellent. Nearest town 45 minutes drive nothing to see .

Not as good as it seems

Rooms need a total renovation as old, dirty & bathrooms very mouldy & not up to 5 star standard. Outside areas being renovated so very noisey & does not say this on the website. It took the manager 15 minutes to find the notification as it is hidden in the restaurant section. Breakfast poor as coco pops, cornflakes & fruit loops are the only cereals offered. Tea & coffee cold & awful. During our 4 day stay the resort had run out of bananas, tomatoes & Coke Zero. The coffee machine at the restaurant on the beach was not working. Beach & pool lovely & staff friendly but management need to improve their customer service.

Very cheap and affordable. However the room had a damp musky smell. The lack of fly screens on the doors and large population of mosquitoes ment that the room was always shut. The aircon worked but could barely manage the humidity and often the floor was wet with condensation. Outside the room the restaurants and facilities were diverse and of high standards.

A nice family escape

We stayed in both a villa and the delux suite. The villa (for 6 people) promised so much but under delivered. There was only enough room for 4 people on the couches and the plunge pool was filled in and had on outdoor setting over it instead. The bedrooms were of good size. The bathroom shower curtain didn't match the shower base size and water would cover the floor when having a shower (dangerous). The delux suite was a great size for 2 people and very clean. The shower head was massive and sprayed the bathroom floor also. The pools were lovely, grounds and gardens kept very clean, staff were friendly but housekeeping staff tended to be slow. The restaurants were good but the lunch and dinner buffet was over priced for the food on offer. Yes i would come back here again.

Its just an average place

First piece of advice - Pls don't book this hotel by getting carried away with marketed pics. Pros - - Huge area covered with private beach. - Nice breakfast with lots of menu to suit all races n taste. - Nice pool. - Nice Bar with good view and drinks menu. ' Cons - - Private terminal is not functional. - Once you arrrive @ Bintan Ferry Terminal, resort members would encourage you to take a private cab, by mentioning that the resort bus will come after 30-45 mins and it takes 30 mins travel time. - Super long queue for checkin. Less people staffed at front desk. - Offers low floor rooms with indirect view of sea (inspite of opting for sea-view room). - Rooms are not tidy, sticky floor, a foul smell when entered into room. Had to keep doors open for a while to let fresh air in. Old Resort. - Relaxing mattress near window was very dusty. - Ample dust particles and dirt was there below bed. - Was allotted 2 single beds, inspite of giving special instructions for 1 double bed while booking. - No Internet access using WIFI or LAN access in room. When reported to front desk, the response was it's faulty. Wifi only available at lobby with minimal speed, being the fact that all guest get around lobby to connect. - Sitting area was dusty and chairs were not clean. - Room service is lousy and you have to remind them every 20 mins of your order. - Pre-Book your lunch/dinner, else there are chances to get surprise when you get in to restaurant. - There was a water leak in front of front door, which was reported but no-one turned up. - Change of room request due to all above reasons was also denied, eventhough we approached frontdesk before checkintime of next day. - Staff need to gear up to speed. Very slow and delayed service. Not sure who went for relaxing - Us or staff :) - Expensive lunch/dinner - Expensive activities - jetskiing, banana boat ride, buggy rental, overpriced Massage. - Slides in pool are not having enough water pressure at the end, hence we have to literally drag our bum down to fall into pool. - Mosquito menace at Rice restaurant (sea-facing) and rooms (if by mistake you leave doors open). - Cheap toiletries (soap, moisturizer, shampoo), No Comb available, so pls carry one.

Paid extra for guest breakfast

The hotel met the expectations and yes service was great. The only issue is I book a room for 3 guests. And it is stated in my payment that it's for 3 guests. Yet I had to pay for my 3 guest in order for me to have hotel breakfast. And the hotel room service food is very expensive. Very very expensive.

Pleasant pool grounds the resort needs maintenance

We had booked more than 4 months in advance, however room was not available at check-in, then the room finally provided did not have a working air-conditioner or fan. No information on restaurants or other facilities available in our room. Once the week-end visitors left 2 restaurants were closed 'for maintenance'. Expensive meals, snacks and especially drinks, either soft drinks or alcoholic. The cost of which increased from 6pm. Pool snacks ordered always took a minimum of 45 minutes to be served and then arrived cold. Wifi was virtually non-existent. On the plus side the staff were very friendly. Would not recommend this Resort, we certainly will not return.

Still looking old.

I stayed at this hotel in 2002 and loved it, so we went back in February 2015. It's true they have renovated some rooms but 'new fixtures in old fittings'. The old raised corner which used to have table and chairs on it is still there, without the table and chairs, a complete waste of space. The bathroom was a mixture of old and new, the old was dirty and damaged. The local staff work very hard and are pleasant but management need to improve their customer skills. The bar prices magically went up considerably on the evening of Valentines Day, which we weren't impressed about. We ordered a meal each at the bar, mine arrived within half an hour but my husband was still waiting for his an hour later. Management blamed it on the kitchen, but whoever was to blame didn't matter as no one was going to own up. The buffet was very expensive as was the Japanese restaurant. The newly built Rice Restaurant and bar was well located beachside, and we ate there one night, it was reasonably priced. The resort has built a new private ferry terminal but it was not operating as it was 'monsoon season'. We had no rain or wind while we were at the resort and also no rain or wind while in the region for the next two weeks!! I feel the money would have been better spent on maintaining the 'very tired' grounds and swimming pools.

Wouldn't recommend it -old and dated!

The hotel is very old and not ideal for couples, we should have spent more and stayed somewhere slot nicer. They said the ferry drops you off at the hotel which is true if its in the right season otherwise you have to get the bus there (which they charge you for at check out!) and 12 restaurants.. Only 3 were open!!

Close to the beach and friendly staff

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The resort itself is a little old but that didn't bother me. It was clean and comfortable. I was travelling on my own and the staff made my stay fun and I was well looked after. A special mention to kne staff member Askandar. He was wonderful in looking after tours and resort activities for me.

Opinion

Since my last visit in 2009 the hotel has went downhill very fast very fast and is extremely tired looking, therefore I would lookk at other hotels on the island and certainly not consider staying here again until vast improvements were made ie: total refurbishment of all decor inc rooms, more varied and better choice of food & beverage availability
