Expensive for standard of the room.
Price increase as there was a rugby game on. Found that disappointing as room wasn't any different so what justifies this happening?

Otago Uni trip
Just a short walk to Otago University, which was my main criteria for booking. All the basics provided in the room - tea/coffee/milk/water/ shampoo, but no shower gel. Had to ask for batteries for the TV remote. Clean room, friendly service, good breakfast, and would stay again.

A place to sleep
Reception staff were rather starchy. We ordered 2 drinks at the bar and one of them was wrong. The barmaid had left the bar before we could complain. Only one vegetarian item on the menu.

In need of updating
Hotel rooms are drab and in need of a makeover. Hotel boasts of a courtyard which is well kept but the trees cut out the light from the rooms making them very dark. Also noticed in a local paper that it is up for sale !!

We have travelled far and wide - globally... and unfortunately this was without doubt the most disappointing and uncomfortable hotel (!) I have ever stayed in.
Having never been to Dundedin before this hotel kept popping up on all the booking websites and the rooms looked great. The price was similar to lots of other ones, not the cheapest by far. However.....upon arrival, the forecourt was obviously new and had had some money spent on it....THEN we saw the blocks containing the rooms...oh wow!!
Run down, dark and seriously like stepping back in time. Such a shame.
All that is needed is a little bit of time and money spent updating the tired rooms and buildings.
Bed was AWFUL....do not recommend for anyone other than my 25kg daughter - on her own. It was soft and we spent most of the night trying to roll out of the middle of the sagging bed.
Wish I had some positives, but really it was a terrible waste of money.

The pictures on the web did not really relect the hotel as being tired and a bit run down. We did get a good price, however. Needs to be modernised and upgraded.
