We enjoyed our stay at the Luna Hotel da Oura. The rooms are very large. A few things need to be repaired in the room we had. The towel bar fell off and the bottom dishwasher rack needs to be replaced. Other than a couple of things, the hotel was very good. Easy walking to The Strip but a little farther to Old Town. Very nice hotel. The young man at the front desk was very accommodating and helpful.

Pleasant hotel with a view

Nice hotel - we had a room with bedroom upstairs and TV room lounge on the first floor. Could use a little renovations but accommodating and efficient as well. Had view of the pool which allowed for pleasant distractions. Overall, well situated hotel and superb professional staff at the front desk.

Lobby was beautiful, bedroom was dirty, floors in room looked like they hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, curtains in room had black and brown stains all over, pool needed cleaned as water is pool was dirty, if u didn't know the where the hotel was it can be difficult to locate. Bedroom needs updating

Not worthy of 4 stars, very dated

Hotel is in a good location and whilst it has all the amenities required to make it four star, you will be sorely disappointed by your room if you’re expecting four star comfort. The rooms haven’t been updated since the 80’s and are extremely depressing If they’d spent as much time on the accommodation floors as they have on the ground floor then it would be a half decent hotel Basically they’ve put lipstick on a pig !

The room was comfortable but a bit dated. The blowdryer was one of the boxed units attached to the wall (circa 1970), but it worked fine. Lobby was really quite nice. I would have used the indoor pool sauna and jaccuzi but you are required to wear a bathing cap...which I dont have. You also have to rent pool towels to use at the indoor and outdoor pools

Beautiful hotel in a great location. 30-min walk from Albufeira old town and 15 minutes from Oura Beach. If you are planning on going to the beach, bring your own towel! They charge 30€ if you bring the towels from the room to the beach. Then, when we asked for beach towels, the person at the front desk said we couldn’t get them until the spa opened at 10. At 10, we went to the spa (which was still closed). We then went back to the front desk only to find out the towels were there she whole time and not at the spa at all. They then charged us 1,50€ per day per towel and asked for a 10€ deposit for each. For whatever reason, the person at the front desk was making it very difficult to get towels. The towel experience left me with a bad impression of the staff, but otherwise, the hotel is great!

Good one

Good hotel, near the ”party street”, away from old towns fuzz. Travelled alone. Pros: - nice size room with basic amenities PLUS kitchen (fridge+mini freezer box in it, microwave, hotplate, accessories etc.) and own balcony. - working wifi. - working A/C. - grocery stores nearby. - walking distance. Cons: - because of the location, there are partygoers yelling in corridors at night/morning and someone sleeping there in the middle of the day. - 2 single beds instead of 1 queen. This should be something to be considered everytime someone checks in alone, especially when you are asked about it.

We are a family of four (two adults, two teenagers) who are fairly well travelled. We were really looking forward to our stay at The Luna having travelled some of Portugal and Spain before arriving. Sadly, we were quite disappointed. Upon arrival at 3:55 pm we were told we couldn’t check in until 4:00 pm and then were told at 4 that our room wasn’t ready. The front desk were unkind, often telling to refer to the hotel paper they provided if we had questions. Things felt very controlled (don’t ask for towels to be replaced) and dated. Additionally, it was noisy with many young adults partying and no control over noise. Consider different accommodations if you’re a travelling family.

Not a 4 Star Hotel

Starting with the most obvious, no 4 star hotel charges extra for using the safe (3 euros per day) which is advertised as being included in the room on both hotels.com as well on their own website. This is completely false advertising and honestly very CHEAP on behalf of management for the room rates they charge during the summer. While the lobby has been upgraded, the remainder of the facilities and rooms and furniture have been largely untouched since the 1980's and the windows lack any form of noise reduction quality and you can easily hear people, motorcycles and buses if your room is facing the street. Even the laundry facility is old and they only have 1 machine per floor which is not nearly enough for a hotel that size. The pool is extremely basic and they only provide a vending machine for snacks and drinks (no alcohol allowed by the pool and not sold either)... definitely not 4 star quality. The entire stay wasn't bad though as the room itself was fairly clean and the location of the hotel was fine if you want to stay near the strip. Theres also a very good market, breakfast spot and laundry place all within a few minutes walking as well, so that was helpful during our stay. That said we'd look to stay elsewhere when we return to the Algarve.
