We stayed at the property for 14 nights. The general areas are in poor condition. Our apartment was supposed to be cleaned every 3rd day however in the middle of our stay it was missed. The housekeeping service is very minimal and not enough when you are staying for a longer time eg. does not include vaccuming so we had to ask. The pool is nice as it was not too busy however it is in the shade most of the day and windy. Easy walk to the beach.

There was an additional charge of $25 per day for the room in the fine print and the parking was expensive at $25 per day but other than that it was a great location and the room on the 37th floor had a fantastic view

We were impressed with location and service of staff. Room was generally clean and tidy on the surface however fridge had not been cleaned from previous guests and we found chip packet behind bedside table also from previous guests. We were impressed that we were able to continue using facilities after we had checked out before we caught a late night flight

Good for families

We have stayed here before and love its quiet area, near the zoo, and a safe swimming beach, while still being within walking distance of the shopping and restaurants. The hotel is looking very tired now. Most days the cleaners left a note offering a $10 discount from our bill if we were willing to forego the cleaning service the next day. This was odd. The daily servicing was in the early evening which was not convenient. The staff were lovely, and happy to store bags, and give us a temporary access card so we could use the pool facilities until our room was ready.

Convenient and cosy

We stayed for one night at the Aston Waikiki Sunset. The room was well laid out and had adequate space for the five of us. The double bed was a little bit of a squeeze but otherwise beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the fridge was a good size and was very clean- the room would be suitable for a longer stay for a family. The hotel is only two blocks back from the beach and we walked down through town with no problem. It is also right on Kuhio Ave with plenty of shops and restaurants within a stone's throw. Parking was easy and plentiful. The only downsides were the elevators that seemed to take forever to arrive and while the room was basically clean it really needed a good dusting. Reception and porter services were very efficient and check in and out were acoomplished quickly and with no hold ups. We thought that this was a good option for a family, felt very safe in the neighbourhood and would be happy to stay here again.

Must had better times but long gone

Location was not too bad being 5 mins walk to the beach this is when you encounter the homeless capital of the world, yet most japanese seem to be partying hard just upstairs. The hotel itself had no highlights, old building, old room, lagged service level, just like majority of the hotels in waikiki. There are better destinations for much less to spend your precious days and bucks, do not go to hawaii to take on stress.

Everything we needed - great for families!

We arrived a few hours before check in but were kindly allowed to check in anyway. The room was exactly as advertised, we had a mountain view room with a queen bedroom, king size sofa bed and kitchenette. Our room on the 28th floor and appeared to have been upgraded fairly recently, it was clean, spacious and had comfortable beds. It provided us with everything we needed - space for our 2 children to play, sofa, tv-playstation (which we used as a DVD player) free movies in the lobby, nice bathroom and good pool. The kitchenette was well equipped with a full size cooker, microwave, pans, utensils etc. Good size fridge/freezer and dining table. Buying fresh food to cook was a challenge without a car but there were ABC stores nearby that sell cereal, bread etc and there is a little store on the 5th floor of the hotel too. The farmers market round the corner on Saturday morning was great for fresh fruit and veggies. The location of this hotel is great, a couple of blocks from the beach, zoo, aquarium, and 10 minutes from Dukes for breakfast. Local buses can be caught outside to Ala Moana Shoping Centre, Downtown, Bishop Museum etc for $2.50 per ride. We would come again!

Aston Waikiki Sunset - location good for toddlers

Shame about the cleanliness of the room, it really was the only thing that let it down. Sofa was stained and not clean, old food under the coffee tables and the previous peoples filthy, hired high chair left in the room and only removed after I asked. Staff were friendly and helpful. Was a great location for people with small children being a block back from the sea wall that protected an area of the beach from incoming waves. Perfect for us with a toddler. At the quieter end of Waikiki and right by the zoo and aquarium. Recommend the pizza place that is advertised in the room - delivered free and very good!

20年ぶりのハワイ

20年ぶりのハワイでした。3泊滞在しました。チェックインの時にウェルカムギフトとして貝のネックレスを人数分いただきました。見晴らしの良い山が見える高層階でした。エクストラソファーベッドは自分達でセットアップする必要があり、とまどいました。夜、風呂のシャワーがでないのに気づきました。風呂に入るのがとても大変でした。翌朝、フロントに連絡して修理を依頼して、すぐに対応してくれました。駐車場が値上がりしており、一泊30ドルぐらい支払いました。ワイキキビーチまで歩いて行ける場所でした。ホテルのスタッフは良い方々でした。

The property is very out dated and the bedrooms and bathrooms are very small. However the location is very good and only about a 5 minute walk to the beach.

The staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. The facility was very old, had a feel of staying at your grandmas house. Rooms were super small, barely enough room to walk around the bed. You have to shimmy sideways to get to the other side of the bed. The pillows were comparable to the free pillows you get on an airplane. The showers were dirty and old. Presence of calk all over to fix leaks. The gym was extremely small with not a lot of equipment. We payed for an upgraded room and never received it. The parking structure was way overpriced and charged us more than they should have. When asked about it the staff looked confused and didn’t give an answer or even help. Would not recommend this place.

It is nice to have a kitchenette for the odd time you do not want to eat out. Has microwave to use to heat up leftovers from restaurants and a good size fridge to store drinks for a "cool one".
