About Vrbo's service fee
The service fee is a percentage of the reservation total (before taxes and refundable fees) that the traveller pays at checkout.
Understanding the service fee
This fee helps cover:
- Secure payment processing
- Ongoing product improvements
- 24/7 customer support
Vrbo’s Book with Confidence Guarantee protects travellers when they book and pay through our platform.
How the service fee works
- The percentage varies depending on the reservation amount.
- If required by local law, value-added tax (VAT) is charged on top of the service fee.
Transparent pricing, no hidden fees
The total price shown to travellers includes all required fees, including the service fee. This means travellers always see the price up-front and there’s no surprises at checkout. Learn more about Vrbo’s up-front pricing.
To ensure accurate pricing, enter mandatory fees in your Vrbo owner dashboard or through your connectivity provider.
Service fee refunds
- Hosts cannot waive or reduce the service fee.
- If a reservation is cancelled within the window for a 100% refund (based on your cancellation policy), the service fee is automatically refunded to the traveller.
