When we arrived the house was visibly not cleaned. Perishables and half eaten food were left in the fridge, linens were visibly soiled, bathroom was dirty and owners toiletries, underwear and clothing were left in the bureau in the main bedroom. The owner was very responsive and said he would take money off to make up for it, but we still spent our first day there cleaning and laundering all of the linens and towels. We used the outdoor shower and mostly hung out on the screen porch which was nice, however after my daughter complained of getting bit by bugs at night and finding welts on her legs we started investigating more and found mouse droppings and dead bugs under the furniture and immediately left. To his credit Craig did not deny that the place had not actually been cleaned and agreed to refund our stay, but we are still out over $1000 as he only refunded the house rental cost through venmo and not the vrbo fees which, ironically, included a cleaning fee. Overall an exceptionally frustrating and disappointing experience.
