Relax and unwind at this cozy chalet-style home, just 3 miles from both Higgins and Houghton Lakes!

Nestled in a peaceful wooded neighborhood, this spacious 2,100+ square foot home offers the perfect getaway for families and friends. With 3 bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and 3 full bathrooms, there’s plenty of room for up to 10 guests. Two separate living areas provide ample space to relax, and Smart TVs in both the living and family rooms allow you to stream your favorite shows.

The well-equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing meals, and the dining room comfortably seats 10, with extra chairs and table extensions available. Stay comfortable year-round with central air, forced heat, and an additional wall A/C unit upstairs. A washer and dryer are also available for your convenience.

Step outside to enjoy the hot tub (ideal for 5-6 guests), fire pit, front deck with seating, and a seasonal koi pond (covered in the Fall). The large driveway provides parking for up to 6 total vehicles or toy trailers depending on size (please note, no campers due to township regulations). A gas grill is also provided for outdoor meals.

Great Place!

We had a great time! The kids loved the pond with the fish and the frogs and loved feeding them each day. It’s super close to both Higgins and Houghton lake and was perfect for our day trips to the lake! Would for sure stay there again!

Just as listed!

We had a group of 8 adults for a 2 week stay. There was plenty of room in the driveway for all the vehicles and our 24 ft boat. All the amenities of home are provided for a comfortable stay. The loft got quite warm on the hot Summer days, however, we utilized the fans provided to stay cool. Definitely will be booking again!

Winter getaway

We had a great stay at great oaks cottage. It was the perfect size for our two families, had all the necessities, and lots of extras like the hot tub, games, wood burning stove, grill, and sleds for our use. Bedrooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. We appreciated the quick communication and easy checkin/check out process. Overall the perfect spot for a winter getaway! Thanks

Great house and amenities!

Had such a great time at this wonderful establishment for the weekend with friends. House is convenient whether coming from 127 or I-75. This house had so much room, three bathrooms, and plenty of parking. We cooked all weekend using the well stocked kitchen and the gas grill. A cozy fire in the wood burner created a great setting for spending time with friends on a cold weekend. And it doesn’t get better than ending your night in the hot tub! Laura was a great host and wonderful at communicating. Highly recommend this rental!

A fun girlfriend gathering!!

Highly recommend this home! Clean, roomy, and a quiet neighborhood. Laura was easy to communicate with and prompt in responding to my messages. We will be back next year!!

Fabulous up north getaway!

We needed a house for several generations for a family wedding. This house did not disappoint! It has plenty of beds for everyone, big kitchen for those fun family dinners, multiple bathrooms so everyone can shower without getting in each other’s way, the most incredible koi pond (which was a big hit with all ages!), a beautiful fire pit area, 2 huge living spaces (comfy massive sectional that I wanted to take home!) and blackout curtains for the kid rooms that I greatly appreciated. It was one of my favorite vaca houses yet!

Higgins Lake is one of our favorite places in the world, so the location couldn't get much better! This area of Michigan has so much to offer in every season, and it's a breath of fresh air to step away from the normal stresses and obligations of home life. We enjoy every day at Great Oaks Cottage and believe that our guests will too!
