This beautifully appointed home has 4-bedrooms and 3 baths that sleep up to14 guests.
It is located between the beach and the bay in Jamaica Beach, TX on Galveston Island.

Enjoy the fully stocked kitchen, large capacity front load washer and dryer and 2 patios. One patio has a fireplace with a sofa area and deck great for sunning. The other patio has a sofa area with a Tiki Bar for visiting family and friends.
The back yard has an outdoor pool bar area that houses the hot tub, wet bar, and swings for relaxing. There is a tropical landscaping with palm trees and foliage surrounding you! You will never want to leave!

All this next to your own private heated swimming pool (32'X16' Swimming Pool-
ONLY heated when outdoor temperatures are 55-75 degrees). Huge wood decking that surrounds the entire pool area with lounge chairs and a gas grill (Propane is not provided-Tanks are available for your use to exchange at the corner store if needed), 2 picnic tables and plenty of seating for everyone.

Wet Mermaid's Pool is only heated in the winter months when outdoor temperatures are 55-75 degrees.

Large parking area at the house.
(6-8 car parking depending on the size of the vehicles. No parking on the street).

Just a short distance to dining, cocktails, grocery shopping, and convenience stores.

Must be 25 years of age or older to rent this property.

Great Stay

Location is great. Amenities were great. Downstairs rooms are completely separate from each other and upstairs apartment with portable cooling units vs Central heat and air, so not as comfortable as the upstairs apartment, but this was manageable and the pool area became the centralized meeting spot. Overall a great stay

So much potential…

This place has so much potential... It's in a quiet neighborhood, close to the beach, has a great outdoor area, great balconies, and plenty of space for bigger groups to spread out and have their own space when needed. Room for Improvement: We understand coastal air and moisture are hard on structures, but not a single door in this house opened smoothly. At one point a few of us were trapped on the front balcony until two people (one on the inside and one on the outside) were able to lift together to get the stuck and unlevel door open. After that we understood why someone had shoved a paper towel into the door latch. When we arrived the lever on the upstairs toilet was broken and we had to remove the tank lid and pull the chain each time we flushed. After a full day and a half of constantly contacting the managing company regarding the toilet and door issues they finally sent someone to replace the toilet lever but we didn't notice any improvement in the doors. All the downstairs rooms had a musty smell, and struggled to keep cool despite us making every effort to minimize going in and out and keeping the doors shut as much as possible. We prefer to book through owner owned rentals because we appreciate the love and care people put into their own properties vs corporate hotel chains. Dealing with this particular management company (not VRBO) felt worse than dealing with even the biggest hotel chains.

Enjoyed our stay!

Family trip to the beach. The house was clean and accommodated 10 adults/kids and a baby. The shared living space and pool were just what we were looking for. We did not realize that the bunk room is not accessible from the main house, only by an outside entrance. This was a challenge with small children you could not leave them alone by the pool while entertaining in the kitchen/living space. This created separation. Overall enjoyed the stay! Vacasa was responsive when contacted.

Fun But hot!

The location was great but the AC units couldn’t handle the heat. The breaker keep blowing. We had to have people rent an hotel because the bunk room didn’t hold the air and was hot. Had to turn off the unit in lower kitchen to make the AC in bunk room somewhat work. Had to move people in the living room upstairs. The pool was great. AC worked great upstairs. Need to supply more trash bags, paper towels and toilet paper. Keep calling the new management company and got someone but they didn’t nothing. Keep saying will keep in touch with status but never did.

Outstanding Outdoor Space

Great house and great outdoor space. It was perfect for our group of 2 families. A few minor cleanliness issues with the outdoor bars, but the interior was immaculate. The downstairs kitchenette was so perfect since we mostly cooked outside on the grill. It was nice to not have to pack all the food up and down stairs. The only real issue was the pool never heated up, but that never stopped the kids from enjoying it. The hot tub more than made up for it with the adults. The neighborhood is very quiet in the evenings which was awesome for chill evenings and winding down after a busy day. I would absolutely recommend and rent it again.

Weekend Stay

This was a great property and we would stay here again. I only had one issue while we were staying and we weren’t able to have the pool heated. The check out instructions should have a little better explanation but overall this was a great property! We enjoyed our stay.

Great place for larger groups with kids!

We had a large group with several kids. This was just the place. The outdoor area was a perfect place to gather with so many seating options…shade, sun, hammock, chair. My son has mobility issues, so the bedroom on ground level was perfect for us.

Great for groups

We had 3 families house was perfect for space and setup kids had their own room which was nice. Only negative was the hot tub was very cloudy like it needed to be cleaned. Other than that great location and perfect for a fun getaway!!

Wet Mermaid

We had a great time…pool and deck area with the bar and hot tub was everyone’s favorite. Pool is large and about 3’6” deep so that was a plus! House does need a good cleaning, musty smell in lower rooms, take your Lysol. Game/workout room is more of a storage room…no weights,no games, etc. Agent was great when we had an issue with the clothes dryer. Convenience store and other businesses right around the corner. Beach is close and clean.

Awesome Stay!

We loved our stay. Just having the pool to come back to after a hot summer day was worth it! This place has so many little hang out spots. It's great for a large group.

Fabulous!

Our weekend stay at The Wet Mermaid was fabulous! The pool and hot tub were clean and perfect for relaxing. The pool area had a bar area, hammocks , deck chairs, a swing, and a large table. The evenings on the hammock were idyllic! There are two bedrooms on the pool level and two bedrooms upstairs. Everyone slept comfortably. There are three enclosed porch areas upstairs which were ideal for reading, visiting, having coffee, or just resting. The kitchen is well stocked. There was excellent communication with the manager. The property is well maintained and it is a great beach house! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The beach is an easy half mile walk. There is a convenience store a quarter mile away. We hope to return to The Wet Mermaid the next time we plan a trip to Galveston!

Vacation well spent!

The house was everything and more! We enjoyed the low key area of Jamaica Beach, it was just as beautiful as anywhere else along the gulf. The house was very unique and very fun! We utilized the hot tub and pool every day. Both were clean, warm and all around enjoyable for my family and I. The local management team were super nice, easy to communicate with, and just all around professional. Thank you we had an excellent experience!

Super fun party house-great for a family vacation

This home exceeded our expectations. It had plenty of cozy beds for a big group like ours and all the amenities one could imagine including a huge swimming pool and a hot tub. We didn't even get a chance to use the outdoor fireplace. It is also located close to a ton of family fun. We rented a golf cart and were able to access the beach just a short distance away. It is the perfect get-away. Next time we stay a week.

This house is AMAZING to have get togethers. The backyard is truly an oasis.

The house was exactly like the description. The only problem is there needs to be some upkeep done on the outside furniture. Some of it was not useable at all. We still loved our stay there though. It could have been cleaner in the yard. But would definitely stay again.

Family Get Away

I loved that the house accommodated our large family well. The kitchen was well stocked . We loved the pool and hot-tub.. The place could use some TLC one bedroom had a piece of carpet torn out, and a punched place in the wall. Allot of the outside furniture was either stained , frayed , or torn. Also some Maintenance or repair to outside ceiling fans.

The pool was the best part of this property. It needs a good cleaning of all the air vents and filters. It would be nice to have more of the basic necessities. More toilet paper and paper towels. More than one hand towel for the bathroom and kitchen.

Not an oasis or luxurious

The pictures of this rental paint a relaxing picture that did not match our experience. The upkeep of the place was terrible. It looked like this was a luxurious oasis perhaps 10-15 years ago and forgotten since. The first thing we needed to do when we arrived was to buy bug spray for the flies and gnats, and the buy garbage bags since none were there for us. The property owner did bring some on day two. The outdoor furniture was largely broken and the cushions were too disgusting to sit on. We had planned to grill, but there was no gas provided and the grill hadn’t been cleaned. We did spend some time in the pool on the first two days. After that, the water began to turn green. There were no pool care instructions, no pool cleaning provided by the owner, and when I texted her about it on our fourth day, I got no response on that topic. In the short time we spent on the pool deck, we ended up with a significant splinter in a foot. The sink in the outdoor bar was rusted and not useable with dead bugs. The screen door was broken. The air conditioning vent in the main living space was caked with layers of dust. The room with bunk beds smelled musty and we largely stayed out of it. The mattresses on the futons were terrible and pillows on all the beds were old and flat in need of replacement. I had seen mention of this in reviews from 2019 and before. It looks as though that feedback has never been acted upon. While there are technically three bathrooms, the outdoor one had not been cleaned, the shower in the bedroom with the queen bed was so small and awkward it was virtually unusable. So, we used mostly used the main bathroom, which was challenging at times for two adults and 3 teens. The only gathering place for meals is outside. The door to the “gym” was locked and no key was provided. Access to the beach was great. We did rent 5 chairs and an umbrella from Rick’s Beach Rental. They were accommodating and helpful. After the discount it cost us $90 per day, which seemed high. Overall, we felt disappointed at every turn and are surprised to see so many 4-5 star ratings after having been there. A good cleaning of ALL spaces, and care or upkeep of the furniture would go along way.

Great place for a larger gathering. Plenty of off street parking. Large outdoor space. Plenty of pots pans plates for larger crowd. Cold AC everywhere.
