Charming apartment in beautiful environment

We loved the house, beautifully restored with all the mod cons you need. The walls are really thick and block the heat and the sounds of the road to provide a cool and quiet experience. The reception was warm and welcoming. We received lots of interesting info about all the things what the area has to offer.

lovely place

La Petite Grange was just perfect for our needs (4 long term friends ). It's location was charming and so pleasant. The views were lovely. The bedrooms were very spacious and the en-suites v. adequate. The sitting area and kitchen again v. adequate - actually we sat outside a lot enjoying the views ! The owners - Jane and Alan - were very helpful but never intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed their recommendation of a local restaurant in Joyeuse - went there a couple of times - great regional food and wine. The Ardeche is stunning - we will certainly be back again. A great place - a great holiday !!!

A pleasant stay in a comfortable gite

Clean, comfortable and well equipped. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of hot water. Our first two evenings were cool and damp outside and the gite heating struggled. Once the sun arrived it was fine. Sitting on the terrace in sunshine was enjoyable. Sadly it is on a busy road and the noise is noticeable. There were some condiments left by previous occupants which seemed very old.

A lovely base for exploring the Ardeche region

Le Petite Grange is a lovely little gite for a couple to stay with a comfy living area and bedroom, although the bedroom can get a bit hot, but the owners are in the process of resolving that. It is very clean and well maintained accommodation with lovely views from the patio at the back of the property. It is next to a busy little road but it goes quiet through the night. The owners live in the main house attached to the gite and are very helpful and friendly, they are in the process of building another house at the back of the gite, but this didn't effect our stay at all. You would need a car to stay here as it is a couple of kilometers away from the nearest town, but it is a lovely base to explore the region which is beautiful. We came to do some kayaking and climbing in the area, and we had a brilliant time I would recommend Le Petite Grange to anyone and would certainly stay here again.

Cozy and and well-located getaway

My husband and I spent 6 days in La Petite Grange with our 4 months old baby. Jane provided the spacious bedroom with a baby bed, a changing mat and a small baby bath, which was really nice. We appreciated that a lot. Thanks again! The terrace is very nice, the kitchen is well equipped, the lower floor has always been cool even though it was hot outside and the parking next to the house is perfect. We only used the bathroom upstairs because the other one was quite narrow. Which was too bad was the fact that a prefectural decree prohibits barbecues in the summer months in this area. Of course, it has nothing to do with Jane and Alan, it’s just a side note 😊 All in all a great starting point to discover the Ardèche. We enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your kind review. We agree that it is a shame that barbecues are effectively banned during the summer months in the Ardèche, but with the history of wildfires and the proximity of La Petite Grange and its garden to the wood, the risk of fire has to outweigh the benefits of barbecuing. We look forward to seeing you again in the Ardèche in future years. Jane and Alan

Cottage with a lot of potential

The property is built in the beautiful traditional stone architecture of the Ardeche region. It had enough space for us and the two separate bathroom were nice to have. However, the property is not ready for the summer heat of the region. The downstairs room is tolerable but the upstairs in uninhabitable. We kept the window shutters closed all day, had the windows open at night with the fan running, but the room upstairs was terrible. There were also lots of little bugs (mostly spiders but one adventurous slug) that sneak in through the gaps of the closures. There has also been some neglected maintenance like a clogged sink in the downstairs room and a leaky shower. Quick fixes that I'm sure the owner will make. Lastly, the check out process is far too much, especially given that you're paying a cleaning fee. We're asked to load up all the linens and carry them over to the owner's house. I'd be fine with stripping the linens and leaving them in the rental property. Secondly, we were told to put our single tiny trash bag in the nearest trash can, which is not walkable. Again, the place has great potential but the points above made our stay not as good as it could have been.

Thank you for your hints which we have taken on board. We would like to highlight however that your stay coincided with an unusual weather pattern which affected most of France and made sleeping anywhere difficult.
