Newly renovated 1 bedroom apartment with large outdoor deck. You will be right at the waters edge. Just outside your home away from home is Duck Island. When the tide is out, walk across the land bridge and explore tide pools as you walk around the island. Auke Village Recreational Area is just a short walk from your hideaway. Walk along the beach to Point Louisa and enjoy the spectacular views of the Chilkat Mountain Range. Watch Eagles, Whales, Otters and other wildlife from your deck. Have a beach bonfire and watch the stars. Hiking trails abound in Juneau. Guidebook and guidance provided. Rent a kayak from local outfit for the days you are staying here and paddle right outside your front door. If you are looking for a peaceful serene hideaway this is your place. Beauty will astound and surround you.

Beautiful spot, quiet street; cozy with all the amenities you need ie, washer and dryer, well stocked kitchen, backpacks and waders for fishing &hiking. The host was very gracious. The location was private with wonderful views but also just 15 minutes to downtown. I highly recommend it. Judy and David from Austin Texas

This rental was absolutely perfect for our vacation to Juneau. The host and her dog (Mel) welcomed us with open arms. The rental was perfectly clean and had everything we needed and then some. The view from the deck really truly was the breathtaking views we traveled to Juneau for. We can’t wait to come back and stay again!

Our stay at Otter’s Hideaway was north of expected! The property is exactly as described, only better. The host provides luxurious linens and fluffy towels, as well as thoughtfully placed seashells, books and little touches that went a long way to make everything comfortable. The binoculars, field guides, maps and tidal schedule helped us enjoy the boat traffic and porpoise in the bay. As if all that were not enough, the huge covered deck along with fire pit only enhanced THE VIEW! You simply cannot beat the incredible vistas of Auke Bay. We spent many an hour watching the wildlife, boats and the ever changing clouds. It was truly magical. We’re already planning our next stay. We were lucky enough to meet the charming host and resident doggo. Icing on the cake for sure.

It doesn’t get better than this.

Located on Auke bay just north of Juneau and on the water. This was a beautiful private entrance lower floor of a home that overlooks this tranquil bay. It was spacious, well equipped, comfortable, all with great views! Everything works, good heating, hot water, a nice outdoor propane fireplace on a large private deck Overlooking the bay with fishing boats quietly drifting in the waters. This is the perfect place to be close to town and to the numerous hiking opportunities in the area. We arrived after the last cruise ship of the year left Juneau so off season which we prefer. Great restaurants were filled with locals and the food was delicious at the three we visited. We also had dinners at the house as it had everything to cook a complete meal. The host was welcoming and had great local suggestions but also made us feel like we were the only people on the property. This was a 10/10 for us!

Magical!

Thankyou to Ela for a magical stay at the most peaceful haven we have ever stayed at. It was exactly what we hoped for and more! We felt so at home and relaxed from the moment we walked through the door. The views were outstanding, the eagles and our lovely walk to Duck Island a special treat. We certainly wish to come again and certainly suggest that people come to Otter's Hideway.... superb, quiet ,comfortable loving the Alaskan spirit of Ela. Thank you Ela and Mel her dog.

Great location and host

The Hideaway is well stocked with all you need for cooking and general needs. Ela was a great host and we had a great stay here. Auke Bay is really low key and we loved the area too. Close to Mendwnhall glacier and “out the road” towards St Therese was fun.

Living Like Locals...

We had a tremendous stay in this perfect location! Far enough away from the Cruise Ship driven activities downtown to get the feel of the local community, but close enough to easily be in the city when we wanted to be there. Super convent from the airport and all services are close by. The unit was well appointed with everything we needed. The views were stunning from the house! Ela, the host, was spot on from our very first communication at booking to the end of our visit. We could not have been more pleased. Highly recommended!!

Great property

We stayed for a week in July. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate very well for us, but we were able to enjoy some evenings at the fire pit watching the fantastic view. Very quiet and private. Owner lives upstairs with her dog, but there was minimal if any sound that we could hear coming from above. Small but reasonably well stocked kitchen. Bed was comfortable. Property has blackout shades in the bedroom. Lots of nearby hiking. Host was responsive and friendly.

Fine Days in Otter's Hideaway

What a fantastic place -- beautiful view of the bay (we saw seals and porpoises), cozy and delightful apartment and a wonderful host who provided suggestions for hikes, getaways and restaurants. We would stay here again. In fact, we didn't want to leave!

Otter’s Hideaway is the place to stay!

The Otter’s Hideaway was such a beautiful place to stay and our property manager, Ela, and her dog Mel were the best! The place was very clean, homey, and offered amazing views of the bay all day. Whether you’re looking for a nice retreat or just a place to stay on a part of your trip, you can’t get any better than the Otter’s Hideaway! 10/10 would definitely stay again and I’m looking forward to staying there again in the near future.

A magical stay

The Alaska Airlines flight attendant said, "Have a magical day," just after we landed in Juneau. I thought it was cute. Little did I know I was in for several magical days. Otter's Hideaway and the host, Ela, are incredible. Read the other reviews about how comfortable and thoughtfully appointed it is. For me, the magical part was outside. I didn't just get to see porpoises, eagles, ravens, otters, and sea urchins and stars, I got to experience how they live. The ravens hunted worms. Sea stars clung to rocks as the tide went out. A pair of eagles spent most of their day perched in pine trees or sitting an a nearby dock. And the porpoises were almost always feeding and playing on the cove. I experienced a lot of great things during my stay in Juneau, but the best thing was being connected to nature at Otter's Hideaway. Thank you Ela (and Mel)!

I was living in California when I took a summer break to be in Alaska. I spent the summer in Gustavus which is a ferry ride or short flight from Juneau. I fell in love with the vast majestic beauty of Alaska and decided to stay. I choose Juneau because it offered more emenities and yet all this wilderness to explore. I absolutely love it here. It is a magical place.
