Great house on a wonderful island

This house w/ private pool was very nice. We were met by the owners when we arrived around 9pm on a Fri night as they live next door. Everything was as promised, and very clean and tidy when we arrived. They came over in a timely fashion for any problems, the water system gave us some very mild grief (fixed now, I imagine) and Steve, one of the owners, was here quickly when we contacted him. The house is a bit small, but has two bathrooms and two decks (the one upstairs very private), along with the pool. The wireless worked faultlessly, which I was surprised about since we were not in the main drag, though there are many retirees in the area. Crete is a wonderful island--the people we met were friendly and honest. I have rented through VRBO all over the world for many years and would say the experience in Crete was one of the best of many good experiences.

A lovely well equipped villa in a peaceful location

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing week at Milatos Heights. The villa is very comfortable and in a lovely location overlooking the sleepy fishing village of Milatos Beach. There is a handful of excellent tavernas by the sea (we tried most of them during our stay), plus another in the centre of Milatos itself and one in nearby Epano Sisi . We found the location to be perfect for us, in this peaceful corner of Crete. There is plenty to see within a short drive, such as Agios Nikolaos, Spinalonga (we took the short boat trip from Plaka), Malia Minoan Palace and the Lasithi Plateau. There are a couple of very well stocked supermarkets in nearby Sissi, and the two mini markets in Milatos Beach are fine for essentials. Our hosts, Lynn and Carl were there to welcome us on arrival, and were very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. Overall we can highly recommend this villa.

Nettes kleines Haus mit privatem Pool

Haus ist super ausgestattet. Privater Pool, Klima, Küche vollausgestattet. Super nette Vermieter. Super hilfreich und immer bemüht und sehr zuvorkommend. Haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Blick herrlich. Alles super sauber!

Wonderful holiday!

Lovely villa, just perfect for the two of us. Immaculate and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, although we didn’t really use the kitchen other than for breakfast as there are such lovely tavernas to choose from, so we ate out every day! A car is essential but we chose to walk to the beach most days which took about 40 mins, it’s downhill on the way and we cut through the olive groves for a short cut, the return walk is a bit more challenging, the villas not called Milatos Heights for nothing! Milatos is a very quiet and peaceful area so if you’re looking for lots of nightlife this is not the place to go to! We loved it here and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you Steve & Barb, you were so helpful, from initial booking to the day we had to leave beautiful Crete, it was lovely to meet you, best wishes to you both.

Fantastic

We spent a wonderful week in Steve & Barb's villa. It is much bigger than it appears in the photos. We particularly liked the open plan ground floor lounge/dining room which opens out to a very large terrace with a lovely view down to the sea. The motorised sun blind on the terrace gives you plenty of shade and you have the choice of comfortable basket seats and cushioned loungers. The pool is the ideal size for a quick dip and cool down. The villa is decorated and fitted out to a very high standard and the kitchen contains all the utensils you will need for breakfast, lunches and dinners. The WiFi is a dedicated line with a good speed and works reliably. We would thoroughly recommend this villa for a stay in East Crete.

Stunning Villa and Views

This was our second stay at Milatos Heights. This time was every bit as good as the first. Steve and Barb are fantastic, they will make sure you have everything you need and leave you in peace to enjoy this wonderful location. The villa is totally private and is not overlooked by anyone. Milatos is a great little village with plenty of Tavernas. It has even got its own ATM now which is a new addition next to the little supermarket. The lady in this shop is very friendly if an effort is made in Greek. Sisi is not much further away than Milatos and is considerably bigger with much more tavernas and shops. All surrounding a pretty harbour. It’s a great place to people watch. Malia is a 20 min drive and agios nikolaos is 40 mins the other direction. Mochos is a very pretty village just above Malia in the hills, it has a beautiful square surrounded by tavernas, you’ll pass through this square if you’re on your way to the cave where Zeus is reported to have been born. Stop in Mochos for and hour and watch the world go by. Obviously a car is essential, but not needed every day. Once you’re in this villa for a few hours it will feel like home. Washing machine, dishwasher all the kitchen utensils and appliances you’re used to at home, but with a swimming pool and a fantastic view of Milatos beach. Stunningly beautiful place. You won’t be disappointed if you chose Milatos Heights as your moment in paradise. Thank you Steve and Barb. Peaceful and picturesque

We stayed here in September 2017. The villa was spectacular and very clean. The owners met us on arrival (English) and showed us around and told us everything we needed to know. Maps of the local area were provided and the villa was situated next door to their own villa if we had any problems. Very friendly welcome. The villa itself is well designed, the views of the sea were spectacular and to be able to open your curtains in a morning and see that view from bed was amazing. There are fly screens for all the windows which at night were needed to keep the moths out but they worked very well indeed. The villa and pool are situated next to the road down into Milatos but you soon get used to the quad bikes and coaches going past. The villa is a perfect size and located for a week away from it all. There are enough restaurants by the sea front in Milatos for a different one each night, we didn't venture into Sissi except for to get groceries. A lovely villa and we had a perfect week away.

We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday and had a relaxing time. We never feel anything but amazement at the ever changing scene through the bedroom window, even in winter the view is spectacular. Lovely break for 2

We had a lovely fortnight. The villa was well equipped and Steve and Barb were really helpful, had thought of everything, they were on hand although were keen to avoid being intrusive. Lots of space for two of us. Fantastic sea view from the villa and a great place to relax or to go out sight seeing-lots of places to go all about an hour away. Milatos beach is rocky but there are some lovely sandy beaches slightly further afield. Boat trip to Spinalonga is a must. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

So glad you enjoyed your holiday. Crete is a beautiful island and of course the villa is well situated to explore the east side of the island. As you said it is also perfectly suited for a relaxing holiday, lying in the sun and completely chilling. Keep the memories in mind when the winter winds blow, we would love to have you visit again.

Great location away from the Crowds

Probably the best location and villa we have had in twenty years. Steve and Barbara were fantastic hosts, extremely helpful during booking, arrival details, and during our stay. The villa is superbly finished and equipped. the location is amazing, views down to the sea. There are loads of great restaurants a very short drive from the villa, we ate at a different place each time we went out, and didn't have a bad meal. Not far to bigger places if you want a bit more! I couldn't recommend this villa more.

Just Beautiful

A modern villa overlooking the bay. It was eqipped with everything you could possibly need, the welcome package was spot on and the villa was spotlessly clean. The owners were there to greet us and are so friendly and nice. Very peaceful with beautiful views. It was perfect for us, we'd go back tomorrow if it was possible, the best holiday ever Thanks Steve & Barbs

Peace & Quiet

We wanted a comfortable, quiet week away from it all. How fortunate then that we chose this lovely modern house up in the hills above Milatos. It's very comfortable and well equipped, but to be honest we never used the flat-screen TV, nor the DVD player; never used the dishwasher, nor the washing machine. We did make good use of the huge patio area however and as a keen birdwatcher I was delighted by Sardinian Warblers, Bee-Eaters and vultures by day and the wierd sound of Nightjars just after dusk. The owners greeted us on arrival and were enthusiastic, practical people who were only too pleased to help when necessary (the instructions for getting there from the airport were excellent!). The only downside is that due to the design, the upstairs toilet isn't very private, but otherwise the house is clean, bright, airy and practical. Children and elderly people will need to be careful on the narrow spiral staircase; and you need to be cautious when driving out of the property as it is on a blind bend and bikes especially tend to zoom down the hill towards the coast: a mirror opposite the entrance would alleviate this risk. This isn't a place with a ton of stuff to do just on the doorstep, so it's worth bearing in mind that kids/teens and people wanting a Malia-type experience could easily get bored (though it does have wi-fi). It is ideal as a base for exploring, however, with Agios Nikolaos, the Lassithi plateau and countless Cretian villages all within easy reach, and I'd recommend visiting Sisi for restaurants, supermarkets, gift shops and seaside stuff. Would I book this accomodation again? Absolutely.

The best accommodation we've ever had!

I believe that this was the best accommodation we've ever had in Europe. Very nice villa, has everything for the nice holiday. The villa was very clean and beautiful, really homey and had all the equipment (most of which brand new) one would need. The owners are very charming and extremely nice! They were always ready to help and added to our happy holiday. I would recommend the place for a couple who wants to have a little getaway from the crowds and enjoy quiet evenings overlooking the stunning view! Romantic and relaxing atmosphere guaranteed!

Milatos Bay

A superb villa. Beautifully equiped and very modern design across two floors. Lovely views over Milatos Beach and the bay. Ideal location for visiting sights across central and eastern Crete. The owners were both kind and very friendly. Car transport essential. Highly recommended.
