Lovely, relaxing, cozy cottage

We really enjoyed our time here. The cottage is beautiful & immaculately kept. The little touches like flowers and the fresh bread were lovely & really appreciated. Thank you. We will certainly recommend this property.

Our review PART TWO..

….This is part two of our review, as we realized that the original text was far too long… There are just too many too nice things to say about Filo and Pedro, that we didn't want to cut out the text… The discussions we had from the first minute were very rich, deep and "profound" about aspects of life on Madeira and life in general. Filomena introduced us to the owner of the most famous madeiran embroideries producer Bordal, and when we arrived there we were immediately welcomed there by Susana herself and treated and advised like old returning customers. Simply amazing. Saying this not as a set phrase, but because we were - amazed - indeed. Pedro also gave us valuable advise on best places to eat, pointing us exactly into the direction of the kind of restaurants we were looking for. Our last dinner at Abrigo do Pastor, on the heights over Camacho, just hours before our departure plane, remains epic in our minds. The cottage in itself, as some reviewers mentioned, feels more spacious than the pictures suggest. The interior design is perfectly arranged, hence everything you might need (and wouldn't imagine in such a presumably tiny place) is there without it all getting crowded. The ground floor boasts the kitchenette, which was well enough equipped for us to cook any dishes we aimed at during our stay. As mentioned, it looked like new every evening after we came home from the day and had left it in a… well… less clean state.. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious for a cottage of this size. The dining and living part of the room is close to the wood oven. Sofas are very comfy and, frankly, the feeling provided by the listening to the fire in the oven is just… Wood and ire starer will be provided daily!... The top floor, under the roof, is a very spacious sleeping and working room. the bed is very large and of exceptional quality. One of the things I try to find out when reading reviews is about sleep quality.I am the kind of guest needing good hard From a practical point of view, there is a brand new and pretty large new shopping complex just literally two minutes drive away, allowing rural feeling with all amenities close by. Funchal city centre is just about 20 min away, making a night out very practical. 20 minutes drive to the airport over the rapid carrigeway. The most used hiking book used on the island is the ROTHER GUIDE. the Walk nr 9 (2012 edition), along the LEVADA DA SERRA literally passes by behind the house.

Great stay at Casa Camelia

We had a pleasant stay at Casa Camelia. As we had to wait for our Covid test result, Filomena provided some food for us which we highly appreciated. Every day there has been bread, juice, milk, cheese and a daily cleaning. The little house is surrounded by great nature. Its close to Funchal and the airport. We recommend this place to stay at when you are in Madeira.

Super!!

Het huisje ligt op een mooie rustige locatie 15 min van het centrum van Funchal. Het is een zeer net en mooi huisje van alle gemakken voorzien. Het wordt elke dag schoongemaakt door het vriendelijke personeel. Tevens wordt er elke dag ontbijt verzorgd waar niets aan ontbreekt. De eigenaren zijn daarbij ook nog zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Magical cottage in the middle of a beautiful spring garden full of camellias, rhododendrons etc

Filomena is a generous host who provides her guests with delicious breakfast ingredients. The cottage is very comfortable and well maintained.

A wonderful week in a beautiful landscape

We had a wonderful time in this location. The house was so cute with a lot of lovely details. Every morning we got a breakfast (that was very kind) und we loved sitting on the terrace and looking to the beautiful landscape. The place is great to take tours on the East side of Madeira (the Pico Ariero is not far). Also it was great to have a levada next to the house so you can go jogging and walking. The hosts (Filomena and Pedro) were so friendly and have some really good recommendations for us. We would love to come back sometime (perhaps in winter or spring).

Schönes kleines Ferienhaus mit tollem Service

Liebevoll eingerichtetes Ferienhaus, in dem es uns an nichts fehlte. Inkludiert ist ein täglicher Service, der Putzen/ Betten machen und Lebensmittel auffüllen (Wasser, Saft, Milch, Wurst, Käse, Marmelade, Kaffee (Nespresso) und Obst) beinhaltete. Auf Wunsch gab es zudem abends frische Brötchen für den nächsten Tag. Täglich wurde Holz für den Kaminofen nachgelegt und der Ofen gereinigt. Die Besitzer standen hilfsbereit mit Tips zum Essen gehen zur Verfügung. Auch die Lage des Hauses war vorteilhaft, da vieles zeitnah mit dem Auto zu erreichen war. Insgesamt also: sehr empfehlenswert!

Wunderbares Haus, sehr ruhig, gut erreichbar von Funchal (Mietauto)! Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich, haben uns jeden Tag frisches Brot zum frühstück besorgt, Wunderbar:) Wir können die Unterkunft absolut empfehlen. Herzlichen Dank Filomena

Totally advisable!

We're a young swiss couple and spent three nights of our Honeymoon in this lovely house. We had a blast in this amazing environment and can only recommend this place! Breakfast is fresh everyday, the kitchen is clean and can be handy. We were a little worried before our stay because it says it was allowed to smoke inside the house and we're both non-smokers. Fortunately, this is not a problem at all and the house smells fresh and clean. We would definitely go back and recommend this house! Thank you!

wunderschöne Unterkunft - besser geht es nicht

Ein Haus wie aus dem Bilderbuch - perfekt gepflegt, mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail ausgestattet und einem "Rundum-Sorglos-Service", da steckt ganz viel Herz drin! Herrlich ruhig gelegen und dennoch optimal an die wichtigen Ost-West und Nord-Süd- Achsen angebunden, man kann problemlos die ganze Insel erkunden wenn man das möchte. Der Service war großartig, Bettwäsche und Handtücher immer frisch, stets alles blitzesauber und der Kühlschrank wurde immer wieder mit Milch, Saft, Eiern, Käse und Wurst, Marmelade, Butter und Obst aufgefüllt. Brot in allen Varianten gab es jeden morgen frisch, dazu Teeauswahl und Kaffee, stets frische Blumen und kleine Überraschungen - ein Traum! Wirklich wärmstens zu empfehlen!

Idylle pur

Wir waren vom 08.06.-20.06.17 in camacha.Das Haus liegt sehr idyllisch in einem wunderschönen Garten.Jeden Tag frisches Obst und Brötchen zum Frühstück.Das Bett wurde immer sehr liebevoll gemacht......jeden tag eine frische Blume und 2 schokoladenbonbons auf der Bettdecke.Liebevolle Geste.Schönes Haus zum entspannen oder als Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen entlang der Levada.

awesome gateway

We love staying at Filomena's Stone houses. Filomena is a great host, receive us with great warm and sympathy. The house is beautiful and surroundings amazing. Is perfect for a weekend gateway or if you can stay, enjoy a couple of days emerged in the lovely Madeira Nature. To those who appreciate, the bed is fabulous. Super comfortable. Filomena's Courtesy provide us basic food supplies, which is great if you don't feel to go out to diner. I absolute recommend, Stone Houses and we will try to came back to enjoy a longer stay. Thank you for everything Filomena.

Sehr schönes Haus

Wir verbrachten unseren ersten Madeira Urlaub in diesem wunderschönen Haus. Es ist gut ausgestattet und man findet alles was man braucht. Auch der Frühstücksservice war super und die Brötchenauswahl sehr abwechslungsreich und lecker. Wir waren froh ein so schönes Appartment gefunden zu haben, was abseits des ganzen Touristentrubels und mitten in einer wunderschönen, ruhigen und grünen Umgebung liegt. An dieser Stelle noch einem vielen Dank an die Vermieter und das Hauspersonal! Wir haben einen sehr schönen Urlaub bei euch verbracht.

Erholsamer Urlaub im Azalea- Haus

Meine Frau und ich (Paar 60+) waren vom 11. bis 22.11.2016 im Azalea- Haus. Der Aufenthalt war eine pure Freude den wir nie vergessen werden. Abends wenn wir von unseren Touren zurück kammen, hing eine Tasche mit Brötchen an der Tür. Das Obst und der Inhalt vom Kühlschrank wurden Täglich ergänzt. Das Haus wurde Täglich gereinigt. Handtücher u. Bettwäsche wurden regelmäßig getauscht. Wir haben jede Minute des Aufenthals genossen. Das Haus liegt abseits vom Trubel an einem Berghang und es ist sehr ruhig. Auf dem Grundstück befindet sich eine hochsensible Alarmanlage. 2 Hunde, welche einen perfekten Job machen. Unbemerkt kommt da keiner rein. Das Grundstück ist Top gepflegt und mit Streuchern und Bäumen bewachsen. Alles in allem hatten wir einen sehr schönen Urlaub ohne die Zwänge eines Hotel Aufenthalts. Wir würden das Haus jederzeit wieder buchen. Eva u. Wolfgang aus Schleswig Holstein

Perfect Relaxing

The perfect place to relax and enjoy Madeira! Filomena and Pedro are really nice persons that try to help in every Situation where assistance is needed. We had the Chance to see both houses, the older one as well as the newer one. Both are perfectly equipped with all you need for your comfort. The surrounding is totally safe and we felt really welcome, trust the Pictures, in reality it´s much better;-) A Supermarket to by fresh fish, meat and vegetables is nearby and the bus Station is only 3 minutes away (to go to Funchal or where ever you want). We suggest to rent a car to have more flexibility. We are pretty shure that we will come again in the future! Thanks for all Filomena and Pedro and have a good time Alex and Jana

Ruhe und Idylle

Ich habe mit meiner Frau 14 Tage bei Filomena und Pedro verbracht. Wir hatten die Chance einen Blick auf beide Häuser zu werfen, das hier gezeigte Steinhaus sowie das neue, zweite Haus. Die EINRICHTUNG beider Häuser ist sehr modern aber gemütlich. Von außen bieten sie den landestypischen Charme. Das Steinhaus ist eher mit "klein, kuschelig, gemütlich" zu beschreiben, das neue Haus mit "modern, geräumig, auch gemütlich". Beide Häuser bieten mit Modernem Bad, Küche, WiFi, etc. alles was man braucht. die Häuser sind sehr eingewachsen und nicht einsehbar. Aufgrund der Größe der Häuser sollte man aber nur mit Partner hinfahren, dem man nicht aus dem Weg gehen muss. Die LAGE ist mit Camacha ruhig und abseits jedes Tourismus, dabei dennoch zentral auf der Insel. Nach Funchal sind es 20 Minuten, ebenso nach Machico. Zum Abendessen sind somit mehr als genug Restaurants in Schlagweite. Der nächste Supermarkt ist 3-4 min mit dem Auto entfernt. Mietwagen ist Pflicht. Der SERVICE erfolgt täglich und beinhaltet Reinigung, Betten, Handtücher, Frühstück, Obst, etc. Bei uns blieben keien Wünsche offen. Filomena und Pedro helfen gern bei Fragen und Problemen und geben auch Tips zur Insel. Dabei drängen sie sich nicht auf, was wir sehr zu schätzen wussten. Auch SPORT ist hier möglich. Pedro hat einen kleinen Fitnessraum. In direkter Nähe verläuft ein Levada, an dem man >10km joggen oder wandern kann.

"VIP" piece of paradise at very god value

"The good feeling about the Stone House left by the pictures, descriptions and positive reviews actually really started with the very kind help Filomena provided when we requested information, during the reservation process and the huge amount of practical information before arrival, were an extreme added value to the feeling of well-being. Being picked up in Camacho centre to make sure we would find the property easily, was just the last of these pre-arrival steps. We were, by the way, even offered to be driven to the airport at 4am (!!) in case we'd give back our rental car earlier. The tons of excuses we received when Filomena and Pedro picked us up with 10 minutes delay were just symptomatic of the level of care given to every detail of hospitality. And hospitality it is indeed, in the most "private" way rather than just "B&B business". It is so relaxing for your mind to be in company of extremely educated, well travelled, open minded persons of a rare elegance in every possible way. The cottage (a former barn itself, if I remember well) is erected on the former farm grounds of one of the ancestors, and overlooks the master house and the family "cottage", and the gardens. To compare the gardens, to a park would be an understatement. While you could expect an almost "aristocratic" behavior of the owners, their attitude towards life actually makes you feel like in a friend's home from almost the very first second. These aspects as well as the cottage in general gave a feel of "luxury" which was in no relation to..the price or other similar rentals you would find on the island or elsewhere. The service is high about average of similar B&B, at least in the same category. It is not "service staff" which is taking care of the cottage, but the maid of the estate, which obviously takes the very same care of guests than in the main house as well. Our beds were so lovingly made every day, the snacks and coffee pads (so delicious and handy for who doesn't like to take care of piling up such groceries by himself) stocked up with such care (when asking why a third box of cereals had been added, I heard that the maid checked the contents of all boxes and saw that one of the two others was coming close to an end and… was afraid we might soon have only one box for choice and also, she wanted to make sure we always have at least one fresh&crunchy box available…), the bathroom and kitchen rearranged and cleaned with such painstaking care that the level of care gi

Perfect Holidays'

First: Thanks Filomena and Pedro for everything! The little stone house in Camacha is so beautiful that you feel so well from the ist time on when you enter the house! Around the house there is a fantastic garden with rhododendrons and camelias - like a "little" paradise in the middle of the paradise Madeira! The whole holiday stay in Madeira was really fantastic and was exactly the trip we were looking for! We felt completely well in the stone house and are therefore already planning to visit Madeira regularly now - and for sure the stone house of Filomena and Pedro will be place of choice.
