Great potential, needs some maintenance
We stayed for 5 days over the 4th of July with friends from Canada. Jason was very quick to respond to any questions and allowed us to check in to the home early so we are very grateful for that. The property is quiet and secluded, the horses and pasture, beautiful. The home, while lovely on the inside had some exterior maintenance issues. The back deck has a number of rotten boards with raised/exposed screw heads which a few of us had stepped on barefoot. There were also some issues with railings being loose and while a smaller person may be okay if they were to lean up against them, a larger person may be able to go through it if they lean back with any force. The railing going down from the porch to ground level were also very loose and not screwed down (appeared they were an after thought). One person in our party placed their hand on the very edge of one of them while going down the steps and the wood top of it it flung up almost hitting her on the head.
The VRBO listing shows a steam shower, sauna and hot tub as amenities. The sauna appeared to be moved and not connected to any power source. While the hot tub worked fine the first time we used it, our subsequent attempts were not so successful as it continuously tripped the circuit breaker after 10 minutes of use. We reset it 3 times and finally gave up.
On a positive note, the interior was open and nice for a large group. The Viking appliances in the kitchen were great and made cooking enjoyable. The kitchen, while stocked with some pot/pans, etc could use a few more items if one were cooking for a larger group. What it definitely does need are more coffee cups as we were only able to find 2 of them and had to buy some when we were in town. One last issue we had was with the lighting in the bathrooms as it was very dark and the women had trouble putting on makeup.
We had a lake house that we rented for the past 3 years before we recently sold it and I would recommend the owner perform some maintenance on the exterior, look at stocking the kitchen cabinets better and also purchase new towels and linens as doing so could make this an exceptional place to stay.
