Las Peiras is a bright, airy palazzo style villa, 215m2 with stunning panoramic views south over the Pyrenees. Architect designed, it was constructed in 2006. Ground floor has a large atrium with spiral staircase, two spacious living areas plus dining area, library, kitchen and utility room. The four double bedrooms with king size or double beds all have en-suite bathrooms. Both upstairs bedrooms have large south facing balconies. Single bed available.

There are large private gardens with lawn, flowering shrubs and olive and fruit trees. It is not overlooked. There is a full-size swimming pool (10mx5m) with alarm plus poolside shower. Terraced and courtyard areas allow outdoor dining and relaxation. A covered dining area adjacent to the pool is equipped with fridge, kitchen and barbecue. The house has solar power and includes WiFi, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier.

The villa is situated in a secluded location on the edge of the delightful circular village of Cailhau, surrounded by vineyards selling local wine. A bistro/bar is two minutes walk away. Local bread and croissants are available daily from the delivery van. The village is known for its local artists.

Belvèze du Razes, 4km away, has a supermarket, bank , boulangerie, bar and restaurant as well as a pharmacy and local medical clinic. The villa is about 20 mins from Carcassonne, and 15 minutes from Limoux. Nearby is the medieval market town of Mirepoix, and many classic hill villages such as Fanjeau. Cathar castles are easily reached and the Mediterranean is an hour away. A little further away are the ski slopes of the Pyrenees.

This property is available to rent weekly Sunday to Sunday. Shorter or midweek stays by arrangement. Bed linen, bath towels and pool towels are included. Small pets by prior arrangement and a small daily surcharge.

Extra mid week cleaning may be available on request at an additional cost.

FRANCAIS:
Las Peiras est une belle villa de style palazzo, 215m2, exposée sud, avec une vue panoramique imprenable sur les Pyrénées. Les quatre chambres doubles avec lits king size ou doubles sont toutes ensuite.

La maison dispose de grands jardins privés de 2500m2, d'une grande piscine (10x5m) et de nombreuses terrasses pour les repas et la détente en plein air. Il y a une salle extérieure couverte pour déjeuner à l'ombre à midi ou pour un barbecue le soir.La maison est située dans un endroit isolé en bordure du charmant village médiéval circulaire (circulade) de Cailhau, entouré de vignobles et, en été, de champs de tournesols. Dans le village, il y a un bistrot / bar avec un coin salon extérieur où le déjeuner et le dîner sont servis. Les croissants et des viennoiseries locaux sont disponibles tous les jours (sauf le dimanche et le lundi) à partir du camion de livraison.
Belvèze du Razes, à 4 km, dispose de toutes les commodités, y compris un supermarché, une banque, une boulangerie, un bar et un restaurant ainsi qu'une pharmacie et une clinique médicale locale

La villa est à environ 20 minutes de Carcassonne, et 15 minutes de Limoux. Un peu plus loin, le charmant bourg médiéval de Mirepoix, la Méditerranée, les châteaux cathares sont facilement accessibles (1 heure) et un peu plus loin les pistes de ski des Pyrénées.

La propriété est disponible à la location hebdomadaire du dimanche au dimanche. Séjours plus courts ou en milieu de semaine sur rendez-vous. Draps et serviettes pour douche et piscine inclus.

Un service de ménage supplémentaire en milieu de semaine peut être disponible moyennant des frais supplémentaires.

We had a wonderful stay in August. The property is large and perfect for big families or multi-generational holidays, with plenty of space and bathrooms. The swimming pool is a real highlight and was enjoyed by all - particularly refreshing during the hot weather! Dawn was always on hand with any problems or advice - she helped during check in, gave us good tips and helped with the pool maintenance. It was nice to have someone local on hand to help with anything. We would also recommend the local restaurant, A'Kotee - the owner is very friendly (also speaks English) and the food was delicious.As for the area, there are plenty of sleepy villages and bustling towns to visit, plus many of the Cathar castles (we would recommend Lastours and Puilaurens) are close by. Carcassonne is only a short drive away, which is well worth a visit despite the crowds. We would love to return before too long, as there is still plenty to see and do in this lovely part of south west France!

We had a fantastic two weeks at the house. It is extremely spacious and comfortable. Well equipped and lovely and clean. The pool and outdoor kitchen area is amazing. As we were there in the summer, we hardly went indoors- only to sleep! Despite the heat, the house stays very cool in the day with the shutters closed. The advice on this left by the owners is really useful. The house would be really cosy in the cooler months.We have stayed in several places in France, this was the first with mosquito nets on the windows and it makes such a difference being able to sleep with the windows open.The absolute best thing about the house is the truly amazing setting and breathtaking views. The pictures do not do it justice. It is so peaceful, with lots of birds and other wildlife. The area around is fantastic, so much to see and do. Highlights for us were canoeing on the Aude river, wild swimming in rivers and lakes and visiting the interesting hilltop villages. Mirepoix is a must! Not to mention visits to local vineyards and the wine cooperatives. Blanquette de Limoux is even better than Champagne. Dawn, who manages the property, is extremely helpful.Thanks for having us!

An honest review with a but towards the end. A delightful house in a lovely quiet village with easy access to Carcassonne airport. Excellent amount of indoor and outdoor space (it’s more spacious than online photos and each room is en-suite). The pool is also large as is the outdoor kitchen adjacent to it. Delightful tiny hilltop village (with many English inhabitants and visitors, if that’s your thing). The gite is generously furnished with everything you will ever need, including masses of kitchen and catering equipment, plenty of books and games and TV and internet etc. Perhaps the pool equipment needs updating (we left a few new bits) and the splendid views would be improved with a foot or two lopped off the shrubs at the end of the garden.But. The mosquitoes were a constant menace. Inspite of all attempts on our behalf and the owners valiant efforts, they will get you in the end, in August at any rate! Obviously this issue isn’t the fault of anyone. And for most of the middle of the day you won’t see or notice them.But 2. There is no air conditioning in the house. Each room is provided with a selection of fans and there are supportive ideas as to how to keep the house cool which help. But in the heat of this summer, it was difficult to sleep in the hot and sticky conditions. Again, heatwaves aren’t the responsibility of the owners, but temperatures are often high in this part of the world. An investment in air conditioning would have prompted a 5 star rating.

Great property

This property is spacious and very well equipped. The pool looks great, a bit chilly this time of year (April). The view from the property is magnificent with the snowcapped Pyrenees in the distance.

Friends stay

Upon arrival there were some issues that were taken care of by the property manager, Dawn who was very attentive to our concerns. The location was exceptional for visiting all points of interest in the area. The view of the mountains was commanding. Cailau is lovely.

Many thanks - the leaves in the pool on your arrival are a risk in October, I am afraid, which is why we usually close it at the end of September.

Check-in was straightforward, the facilities were excellent with a well provisioned kitchen and bar-b-cue areas. Wi Fi access strong, transport straight forward from Carcassone. Owners friendly and communicative with excellent information provided in a timely manner. Swimming pool a great large size and perfect with padded sloped sides and ends. Website pictures do not do it justice. Pleasant village, walkable village bar/restaurant. Secluded location and beautiful countryside. Amazing.

A splendid week in a spacious and very comfortable house

We had a very enjoyable week in the house. It is spacious, comfortable, and very well located right at the heart of the village of Cailhau. All the bedrooms are en-suite, and three of them have the most amazing views towards the Corbieres and Pyrenees mountains. There is a very well maintained pool, and an attractive garden and outdoor seating area. Dawn, who looks after the house, gave us a warm welcome and was always on hand in case of any problems. I thoroughly recommend this property to anybody planning a family or group stay in the Languedoc.

Great Time

We had a lovely stay at the end of June 2023. The weather was scorching hot so the pool came in very handy. The house is very well equipped and the views are to die for. The house was very roomy with all bedrooms en suite. The boulangerie in Belveze du Razes is very good, 5 mins drive from the house. We had a fantastic wine pairing at Domaine Gayda with lovely food. About 45 mins walk from the house. Just follow the Google Maps walking route.

Stunning Property in a Gorgeous Location

The villa is exactly as shown in the photographs and the location is fantastic! Communication with Shon was excellent and i just wish i had asked more questions about what was provided such as cool bags etc so we reduced our weight limit flying out. Sadly there were a lot of mosquitoes and no anti plugs were set up in the house but we eventually found them and got sorted. Some of the details could be updated such as the local shop closing at 7.30pm which caught us out and a better description to where the pizza van. We sadly also never heard the bread van! I would certainly recommend to others

Thank you, Clemmie. As you say, all you need to do is message me a query and I'll usually respond straight away. Anti-mosquito plugs are not set up routinely because some people have allergies. Such a shame you missed the bread van - 11.30 most mornings in the village square. Glad you loved the villa, pool and setting.

Je remercie avant tout Shôn pour les échanges courtois et qualitatifs que nous avons eus par mails, toujours très réactifs, bienveillants, en cherchant à rendre notre séjour aussi agréable que possible. Concernant l’hébergement, il est conforme en tout point à la description et correspondait bien à nos attentes. Il est très calme, très propre, bien équipé, lumineux, avec des espaces pour chacun. Nous gardons de très bons souvenirs de cette vue imprenable sur les Pyrénées au matin avec le café, et cette magnifique piscine, avec une eau très agréable et très limpide, qui nous permettait de surmonter les fortes chaleurs de cet été. Merci également à nos hôtes pour le livret d’accueil qui permet de s’orienter rapidement autour du village et profiter de la région. Bref, une belle parenthèse à recommander.

luxuriöses Ferienhaus mit genialem Ausblick

Sehr empfehlenswertes Haus, das groß, komfortabel, geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sauber ist. Es liegt absolut ruhig und doch nicht verlassen, hat einen großen Garten, einen sehr schönen geräumigen Pool und einen Ausblick auf die Pyrenäen, den man nie wieder vergessen wird. Die Umgebung ist touristisch noch wenig erschlossen, aber es gibt alles, was man braucht (guter Bäcker und sehr guter Schlachter in Belvèze, sehr großer und sauberer Leclerc in Limoux sowie Gaststätten und Weingüter auch mit Direktverkauf). Ein wunderbarer Ort, um sich in schöner Natur zu erholen und zu entspannen. Mit dem Auto sind interessante Orte , Burgen und Klöster gut erreichbar. Eine ortsansässige englische Dame kümmert sich freundlich, hilfsbereit und kompetent um alles.

Thank you, Susanne. Great that you had an excellent two weeks. Here is a translation of your comments: Luxurious holiday home with stunning views. Highly recommended house that is large, comfortable, tastefully decorated and clean. It is absolutely quiet and yet not deserted, has a large garden, a very nice spacious pool and a view of the Pyrenees that you will never forget. The surrounding area is still little developed for tourism, but there is everything you need (good baker and very good butcher in Belvèze, very large and clean Leclerc in Limoux as well as restaurants and wineries also with direct sales). A wonderful place to rest and relax in beautiful nature. By car, interesting places, castles and monasteries are easily accessible. A local English lady takes care of everything and is friendly, helpful and competent.

Magnifique villa très bien équipée.

Un excellent séjour mais ne pas oublier les anti moustiques ! Piscine superbe. Chambres spacieuses et confortables. Il ne manquait rien et une bouteille de Limoux bien fraîche nous attendait et a été appréciée. Des moustiquaires aux fenêtres seraient pratiques quand il fait très chaud .

We are a UK based couple with interests in walking, skiing, good food and wine. We have always loved travelling in France and when we discovered this part of France , we were delighted with the rural beauty, peace and tranquillity yet only half an hour's drive from historic Carcassonne and just over an hour from the coast near Narbonne. We hope guests will also enjoy exploring this lovely area or relaxing in the house and garden.

Nous sommes un couple basé au Royaume-Uni avec des intérêts dans la marche, le ski, la bonne cuisine et le vin. Nous avons toujours adoré voyager en France et lorsque nous avons découvert cette partie de la France, nous avons été ravis de la beauté rurale, de la paix et de la tranquillité, à seulement une demi-heure de route de la ville historique de Carcassonne et à un peu plus d'une heure de la côte près de Narbonne. Nous espérons que les clients apprécieront également d'explorer cette belle région ou de se détendre dans la maison et le jardin privé paisible donnant sur la campagne locale.
