"The Hemingway" is a fantastic coastal getaway. This spacious beach home has 6 bedrooms with 3 baths, an ideal, open floor plan for entertaining inside and out onto the expansive decks. Enjoy the ocean breezes, each other's company or a morning cup of coffee. Cook up a storm in the expansive kitchen. The master suite allows for a quiet escape in comfort. The fabulous Kure Estates neighborhood also has a beach access with Gazebo seating, restroom, rinse shower and parking. The neighborhood ties into other Kure Beach neighborhoods and you can run, walk or bike within the community.

Wonderful place

We went for a family trip and had a great time. The house had more than enough room for everybody and the proximity to the beach was great. The house was very clean and the pool table in the garage was a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again.

Family Beach vacation

Very lovely home and lovely neighborhood. Close access to beach and kitchen had everything we needed. A wonderful family beach vacation!

No tv's in bedrooms. Not enough living room seating based on the house renting as 6 bedrooms. Mouse droppings in lower bedroom cabinet, killed 2 roaches. Sitting area in kids room, the corner seat unit, very dirty.

Perfect Beach House for large family

This lovely home was perfect to accomodate our large family. Plenty of sleeping space for our 11 adults, 1 child, and 2 grandbabies! Extremely spacious deck with plenty of seats. The swinging outdoor bed was very popular! Pool table, bikes and basketball goal. Short walk to beach! We loved our week at The Hemmingway.

Beautiful Property near Kure Beach

A gorgeous, well-maintained, well-appointed house with plenty of room and a short walk to the beach. We rented this for my parents' 50th Anniversary party and it was the perfect location. We all ate together at every meal, got to the beach twice a day and were able to run out super quickly to the store to get the occasional item or emergency ice cream provision. We would love to return and recommend this location 100%.

NICE HOUSE

This house is located in a quiet, well kept development with a mix of adults and kids. Lots of friendly people and dog walkers and a very short distance from the private beach which has its own private access & parking lot. Great location. Communication with Barbara was easy and the house was ready for us 3+- hours before the stated 4:00 check in time which was a bonus. The wraparound porch was the highlight of this house and it fit all us and we were outside more than inside. However, we had 2 broken toilet seats (you would think that the cleaners would have caught this?) and there was no door or curtain on the outdoor shower. Although I was told that the outdoor shower was for rinsing only, the book inside the house says otherwise.. In any case, Barbara has a guy come over quickly to fix the toilet seats and install a "makeshift" shower curtain. Lastly, the home could have been left cleaner. My wife took a wet paper towel to the handrail from upstairs to downstairs and it was black. There was leftover food in the refrigerator. Especially during COVID, who wants to use someone else's opened condiments? I may be incorrect, but I would say that the cleaners did not go over and above a simple wipe down to clean this house. Especially during COVID, you would expect that they would go the extra mile. We ended up doing it ourselves. Lastly, this is a 5 bedroom house... the the 6th bedroom is captive, (need to walk thru another bedroom to get there) and it was hotter than the rest of the house. This was not ideal for privacy. Lastly, in the main living room, there was only 1 couch and an ottoman....nothing else. If you need indoor seating, this house is not for you. I was really surprised, especially based on the number of people the house accommodates. Overall, I give it a solid 5 stars.

Family Getaway

This home was perfect for our extended family getaway for 10! Plenty of room, perfect location, and great amenities! We will definitely be staying here again when we come back to Kure Beach.

Perfect for a big group

The property had everything that we could have needed for a 30th bday weekend. The bikes and pool table were awesome - the beach was a quick few minute walk and there was plenty of space! We will definitely be back!!

Great Vacation with Kids

We had a wonderful time at the Hemingway, it was perfect for our group of two families with 4 kids ages 6 and under. The walk to the beach was easy and it was lovely to have a bathroom and parking available there as well. The property manager was great and provided tips on local activities.

Best stocked rental ever!

This home and Kure Beach are an amazing place to take your family on a vacation. The beach is only a short hop away with private parking if you're not up for walking all your stuff to the beach. The home is completely stocked and ready for you to start a vacation. We highly recommend this home to anyone.

Perfect for a family with teens

We are two families; 2 couples, 2 tween girls, and 2 teenage boys. This house was perfect for us. Plenty of bedrooms to allow everyone to have their space at night. The covered porch was big with lots of seating including a hanging bed that we happily used for afternoon naps. The porch is hugged by 3 beautiful palm trees and the houses within our view were lovely to look at...no eye sores like empty lots or neglected homes. The kitchen is very large with lots of dishes, glassware, etc. Was not lacking in anything. Plenty of TVs including a very cute TV lounge off of the master bedroom. Could have used more couch seating in the living room but there were floor cushions in one of the bedrooms that we moved to the living room when we watched TV as a group. The walk to the beach is much shorter than it looks on the map and there was always plenty of parking at the HOA beach access lot if you prefer to drive. The owner has lots of chairs and other beach items in the garage for use. There is also a wonderful storage space under the covered porch that we used to store our own beach equipment. It was clean and allowed a protected space for our items. The teenage boys enjoyed the basketball hoop in the driveway. Everything worked well and we very much enjoyed our stay. The management company provided a quick walk through upon arrival. The only thing I would change would be the mattress in the top level queen bedroom. My husband and I used that bedroom and found it was a little too springy for our taste. We are a tad spoiled by a memory foam mattress at home. The master bedroom bed seemed more comfortable and none of the children complained. Overall this was a great house of us and we will definitely consider renting it again. It met all of our requirements - plenty of bedrooms, large deck or porch, and within walking distance to the the beach.

Great house for families

We had an amazing stay at The Hemingway. We were thrilled to realize it was so close to the beach so we Walked each time. Kids got a chance to use the bikes and tricycles and other toys on site so that was great! Loved the little neighborhood it was a part of and we took walks and wagon rides around the little pond. Such a fun stay!

Wonderful, relaxing stay in a quiet neighborhood

My family booked the Hemingway for a family reunion. The home was very spacious and well kept. The property manager, was absolutely wonderful to work with. Any issues were dealt with very quickly. We would definitely stay again.

Lots of space but lacking attention in a few areas

We chose this property because of the number of bedrooms for our family get together. Although the weather was dreadfully cold while we were there, the location of the house would be ideal during nice weather as it it just a short walk to the beach. Barbara the property contact was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We've rented many VRBO/Home Away homes in various locations across the country and although the size of this property was great, the Hemingway property fell short in a few areas. Upon entering the home, we (the kids) found several dead cockroaches. It was as if the place had been sprayed and closed up, but no one came back to "sweep up" later. There was also a very strong wet dog smell (mainly in the basement level) - so much that some of our family could not tolerate it, and shortened their stay. ;( Both the porch swing and sofa needed a good cleaning as there were stains on them making for a not so great first impression. The dining room chairs all need replaced or the seats re done. They are quite worn with no padding and a few of them ripped or torn. Although there is a gas grill available to use, there was no propane. Not a big deal, but annoying to have to go buy a tank of propane. There are 2 bunk rooms on the main level - one of which appears to have been part of the porch, and later turned into a "bedroom". The main issue is there is no insulation in that room and you cannot close it off because there is no door. It was freezing! I'm guessing that the house is not rented much and when it is is, probably mostly during summer time, so the issue goes unnoticed. The same was true with the sitting room off of the master bedroom, although that room at least had a door that could be closed. I always try to post helpful reviews for fellow travelers as well as suggestions to the property owners in hopes that they might give the necessary attention to items mentioned for future renters.

Something everyone should experience.

Hemingway beach cottage is place everyone should experience once in there lives or more if you have the opportunity too. That feeling you get when your day to day work schedule or just everyday life brings your stress level up to your eyeballs and all you want to do is be in the comfort of your own home or quaint getaway. The Hemingway cottage has that home away from home feeling and a hop skip and a jump from the NC beautiful beach water, fine local restaurants, nightly entertainment and don't forget to visit Britts local doughnuts shop for breakfast or The Shuck and Shack local seafood bar and restaurant are a must do. The house is filled with up to date amenetites, private reading alcoves, up to date kitchen and is layed out perfectly so you can still enjoy some privacy if you would like to have some time away from your guests. The fellowship I have had with my friends and family over the years is priceless on the cottages decks and hanging patio bed. It really beats staying at a hotel or condo community and haveing to deal with all the rules and loud neighbors. The perfectly landscaped community and local pool or private beach access are huge plus as well. The owner is easy to deal with and enjoys sharing his opinions with you so you and your guests have a safe, memorable, comfortable stay.

The Amazing Hemingway

The Hemingway is BEAUTIFUL! I originally wanted a house on the beach, but lucked up on this beauty because I waited until the last minute to book for my large family (12 total). We couldn't have gotten a better deal. The owner was very personable; he took time to email his favorite restaurants and local attractions to visit. The property manager Barbara was awesome! We had one issue with the restrooms and she handled it within a few hours. She even kept us up updated on local events (fireworks on the beach and community yard sales). The location of the Hemingway is perfect; not to far from anything and walking distance to the beach. And if walking isn't your thing, the private beach parking was GREAT. My entire family is looking forward in staying here again! This really was a home away from home. Pros: Private beach parking, location (to beach, shops and attractions); designed to sleep large families, provided towels and linens; kid friendly; no televisions in bedrooms. Cons: no pool access

Great coastal get away

Beautiful well maintained beach house with plenty of space for family and friends. Large swinging bed on porch, perfect for an afternoon nap. Kitchen with all the amenities you would need. Easy walk to to beach and restaurants. Could easily stay for weeks.
