Beautiful tranquil setting

The communication from the owner beforehand was great and allowed us to pack accordingly, the location was so private and tranquil, the facilities were well thought through and easy to use, quirky and added a little adventure. We loved our stay, the area also gave us access to great beaches and we were able to chase down some sunshine

Wow! Beautiful location all to ourselves. Perfect if you want to have quality family time away from all of the everyday stresses. The kitchen has everything you need to cook with, the tent is perfect, the shower is powerful and very hot!

An excellent ‘get away from it’ location

The camp and its location are just brilliant, really hidden away from anyone else but in a beautiful, huge meadow! Penny is an excellent host and did everything she could to help us out. If you want to get away from it all without either going full ‘glamping’ or utterly roughing it, this is the perfect midway option with everything you could reasonably want.

A wonderful, chilled break

We visited as a family with three dogs and Penny made us feel right at home! The tent was in the perfect spot in the sunshine, super comfortable and had great amenities (the outdoor shower was a big hit!) The marshmallows for toasting were a nice touch. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to book again: a great place to recharge :) thanks Penny and Cooper!

Perfect

Absolutely beautiful location. This is a full on nature experience. Very comfortable warm and cosy bell tent. The outdoor kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. Lovely hot showers. Penny and Cooper are a delight and on hand for any queries. We had a wonderful stay and would thoroughly recommend to anyone who needs to wind down and chill out. Thankyou Penny x

Camping Virgins

First time campers. We found the entire experience enjoyable pushing our boundaries. Penny is great with being on hand a 5 minute quad bike ride away. Amazing to be just two people and a puppy be so close yet so far away during the time’s. If you want to get away from it all, chill relax and have a laugh this would be where to go. Would recommend to both new campers like us and those that camp all the time.

We had a brilliant stay; Penny, the owner was lovely and on hand to assist with any issues, the site itself was beautiful and everything was really well thought out and equipped to ensure we had a relaxing and comfortable time. The kids loved being able to be feral with all the space to explore and play, an outside hot shower, fire pit with wood provided and loads of flora and fauna to spot, including glow worms, owls and frogs. It really was balm for the soul and we’d loved to come back. Thank you to Penny for hosting and being so warm and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful retreat away.

Good for the soul

From booking to arrival Penny was in communication and helpful assisting us with our food, clothes etc down to the site along with resident dog Cooper; who is super friendly and loved our 6 year old. The kitchen was well equipped and drinking water available, shower might look daunting but don't be deceived it was lovely... beautiful walking area in the wet wood, over the bridge and through the stream to find the secret swing. The area is peaceful and so relaxing and so good for the soul. We would recommend in an instant!! Thankyou Penny & Cooper x

Great quiet spot

Great quiet spot in Hemyock, upon arrival Penny greeted us and helped us take our luggage down to the tent. This was needed as due to rain it was muddy pathway down with all our things. The field was lovely and spacious, kitchen was fully equipped for cooking . Tent was spacious and equipped with blankets and cushions, it stayed warm even in the rain, which was great due to the UK weather. The only downside was the toilet and needing to go in a box, probably not an issue for a couple of nights but for a week its a little too much. The shower was attached to gas to give out hot water, but we struggled to get it working, probably user error!!! Penny was a great host and was helpful when needed. Probably a stay for a couple of nights not for a whole week, that is unless the UK weather can be guaranteed.

A Platinum stay

Absolutely wonderful. An idyllic setting in the wonderful West country. A large field surrounded by woods, streams and an abundance of natural sights and sounds. So spacious. The kitchen tent with gas cooker, utensils and a large table and chairs that looks out over and down the field. A large fire pit with a grate that you can use to cook on. Our fire was always on the go and we greatly enjoyed our scouting missions for wood - if we could get our daughter off one of the rope swings in the trees. A good supply of wood was kindly provided each day by our helpful and friendly host too. The bell tent was immaculate and had a gas burner, bed and plenty of space. So good to be able to stand up in - as we are used to crouching in a low standard tent. We only slept in the tent as so lovely outside. You'll also find an outside loo and shower (which I cannot recommend enough) – nice and hot and you get to look off into the woods too. Perfect for a proper get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We highly recommend.

A wander filled with wonder

We had a fantastic time. The setting and location are stunning. We found plenty of hidden places for the children and dog to explore and keep them entertained. We found Penny very accommodating and welcoming, especially with the kids and dog. The little touches around the camp made it very cosy and homely. We will definitely return to this magical place.

Rare find, amazing place to stay

We absolutely loved our stay at Lickham Bottom, its so rare to have this much space all to yourself at a camping site. Penny had really thought of every detail and both the bell tent and the kitchen are equipped with everything you need. Absolutely awesome place to stay.

Perfect Stay for camping in Devon

An unique and wonderful experience. A hidden gem for camping, and with a kitchen and shower! Penny was a perfect host and extremely accommodating. If you're looking for the perfect quiet spot for some nature down time, this is the place! Plus, we all fell in love with her dog Cooper, he is very friendly. Highly recommended.

Beautiful piece of tranquility

Amazing isolated camp in beautiful surroundings. Everything needed for a lovely few days glamping. Wonderful experience for the kids with lots of woodland to explore. They particularly enjoyed the outside shower. Penny was really helpful and a great host. Cooper the dog was also a big hit with the kids.

Fantastic Family Getaway

Such a great stay for our family, everything we could have needed was there. Our children had lots of fun outdoors and kept themselves busy, they spent loads of time pushing each other on the swing by the camp and loved the evening walks and campfire. Penny was fantastic support and very kind and helpful, we would love to stay again it we could.

A hidden away haven

A brilliant few days in this well presented bell tent facility. Not even a bit of poor weather could spoil the experience - the hot outdoor shower a luxury with cool rain adding to the charm. Penny is an attentive host without being intrusive allowing you to truly savour the splendid isolation and tranquility of this idyllic and peaceful location. The whole family came away converted to the camping experience despite the rain and that is testament to how well the property has been thought and planned out for Penny’s guests
