Week’s stay in Dittisham

Lovely holiday cottage for week’s stay in Dittisham. Absolutely gorgeous views of River Dart. Short ten minute walk to Quay and can be hilly in places. Ideal location for exploring Dartmouth and surrounding beaches although car recommended although ferry travel/trips availaible used ferry to get to Greenaway Quay and like notice said just rang the bell for the ferryman.

3 night stay

Had a lovely time at damson cottage; would definitely stay there again and recommend it. Only thing I found missing was a hair dryer which I had forgotten to bring. Lovely location and very quiet.

Good location with parking

Comfy cottage with easy parking and well equipped. Could do with a little maintaining in certain areas e.g rear patio doors couldn’t be bolted and in the garden.

Great location

Great location with parking right outside - very handy in Dittisham. Easy access to the water (at high tide) a 5 minute walk down the hill. Easy access to the pontoon for boats to Dartmouth and the Ferry Boat Inn (FBI) / Anchorstone Cafe. Great pizzas at the FBI.

Damson Cottage

Disappointed on arrival of dirty windows & entrance needs cleaning , left open 2 lights left on , very uncomfortable double bed , Hall mat needed hoovering & in sitting room , Always beautiful area , & plenty of peace & quiet , When told can’t get in until 4 pm & out by 10 am for specialist cleaners need to make it ready for next clients , what do they do as very little cleaning , no dusting etc Change beds & clean bathrooms is it I should think ! It says next question would I recommend , yes as lovely area ,

A lovely base for a short break

Dittisham is a lovely village with lots going on.we’ve been coming her for nearly 30 years and Damson cottage didn’t disappoint. Perfect for the four of us and the dog. Well appointed and clean. It did help that the weather was amazing this week!

A fantastic holiday in a great location, cottage could do with some TLC!

Visited Dittisham on lots of occasions and have stayed in numerous properties through Dart Valley Cottages, all of which have been great. Unfortunately Damson Cottage was not of the same standard. Whilst the property was functional, well equipped and in a great location it would benefit from some general maintenance and redecoration.

Lovely stay in Dittisham

Wonderful week long stay in Dittisham. The cottage has everything you need and is in an idyllic location. The kids loved making use of the orchard the property backs onto. A few things that would make the stay even better: * The beds should be made properly - the sheets hadn't been tucked in at all and I don't appreciate having to do this when I first arrive * The mattresses should be replaced - they were not very comfortable * A bit of love for the outdoor furniture - cushions, parasol etc would be nice But I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and the four of us had a fab week.

Lovely area

Beautiful area to stay in. Damson cottage was perfectly adequate for our needs. Fairly comfortable but would benefit from a blind in the kitchen, a rug that lies flat in the living room (trip hazard) a higher bed with a deeper mattress in the main bedroom. Additionally some leaflets about places to visit and more information on the local area would be helpful. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen and everywhere was clean and tidy. An enjoyable stay.

Relaxing holiday

Damson Cottage was a good base for a family of 3 with a 3 year old. Shop pub, playground, ferry to Dartmouth and Greenways, and the Ham by the River an easy stroll away. 15 minute drive to town, bit further to beaches etc. It has a good layout so you have windows to patio, TV, and kitchen hatch so can enjoy home comforts and feel you are away in Devon at the same time. Enjoy!

Lovely cottage in great location

Lovely, light airy cottage with sunny patio area. Good size lounge-diner with plenty of comfortable seating. New kitchen, quite well equipped. Spacious bedrooms and shower room in main bedroom is a bonus, good, hot showers. Easy walk to the pub on river dart, pub at top of village that contained a shop is all now closed unfortunately. Safe enclosed patio good for dogs but they have to be put on a lead to go into the garden area which is open to neighbours and into orchard beyond.

A lovely break in a lovely cottage

Great cottage in a fantastic location with parking. Just what we wanted. One point deducted for cleaning due to kitchen lighting greasy, kitchen clock on wall not working. Everything else spotless. Need 4 wine glasses in a cottage that sleeps 4. There were only two. All very minor.

Damson cottage

The cottage needs updating and definitely lacked some basic things ie no small tables in lounge to put coffee cups on, no accessible plugs in bedroom I had to crawl under dressing table to plug in the hairdryer. We were disappointed not to have welcome pack of basics ie milk which we are used to from other cottages we have stayed in. Location is remote down very small Devon lanes but not necessarily quiet depending on neighbours as is on very large complex.

A great value stay in a cracking location with every amenity needed.

A brilliant little cottage in a fantastic location, easy access to great beaches and just a short walk to the Ham with its pubs as well as a short boat ride over to Dartmouth. We are originally from Devon so knew that Dittisham would be a great base, but for anyone unfamiliar with the South Hams we couldn’t recommend the location enough. The cottage itself was perfect for us as a couple with our small dog. The enclosed patio area made it easy for her to have safe outdoor access and the cottage was well equipped for having her with us. Damson Cottage was wonderfully clean and we were really impressed by the amount and breadth of facilities supplied in the cottage. Where other rentals usually fall down, we found Damson Cottage to be really well stocked in the kitchen particularly, but also with an iron, hairdryer etc. The cottage was a little tired in places. Whilst the kitchen was very modern, some of the furniture upstairs in particular was a little more aging and there were a few places that would benefit from a refresh. However for the money that we paid, which was incredibly reasonable compared to other similar rentals, we wouldn’t complain. The value for money that this cottage offered can’t be understated. All in all thanks for a lovely stay, we will definitely be back!

Damson Cottage

Comfortable cottage in very quiet location. Will need to car to get anywhere. The ferry to Dartmouth for the day is a nice trip leaving car at home. Steep walk from cottage to ferry and Ferryboat Inn. Red Lion is currently closed for refurbishment. Community Village run shop is open in the mornings. The Garden furniture needs TLC or replacing as rusty. And a couple of Electric fans are needed in the property for the summer extreme heat.

Lovely cottage high standard throughout. We love coming to Dittisham and always been very happy with cottages we have stayed in. Dart Valley Cottages give first class service that1s why we keep coming back.

We are looking forward to a return visit!

We have had such a lovely stay at cosy Damson Cottage. The cottage was warm, very clean and comfortable. It is more spacious than it appears on the photographs. We appreciated the Orchard for it's general loveliness and as a space for the children to play hide and seek. The cottage is in a great location within the village - just around the corner from the pub/shop/post office! It is a short walk down to the Ham with glorious views in all directions. We were sad to leave and determined to come back!

Relaxing Break in Dittisham

We had a lovely stay in this well equiped cottage in a very quiet location. Lovely patio doors out to a nice garden area. It was only a few mins walk down to the pontoon where there is a regular water taxi into Dartmouth from Dittisham. Excellant location for visiting the attractions in the local area. The drive into Dartmouth didn't take long either for a variety of coffee shops and lunch options. We would request a blind or curtain for the kitchen window but apart from that the cottage had everything we needed.

Excellent Cottage

Damson Cottage is warm and welcoming with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The views out over the orchard and the little sunny patio are perfect for an afternoon cuppa. The cottage was well equipped and spotlessly clean and the information booklet very helpful. It is perfectly placed for exploring the area and has easy access to the River Dart with Dartmouth just a short drive away. We found both of the pubs in the village very hospitable with good food and both dog friendly, sadly the Anchor Stone Cafe closed on our second day due to the owner breaking her leg so didn’t get to try it. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Very pleasant accommodation.

Comfortable, clean and well located cottage. Quiet location. Lovely outdoor space. Pub 3 mins walk away. 5 min walk to stunning estuary / views. Lots of walks from the cottage. Regular water taxi into Dartmouth from Dittisham (10.30 and ever hour aftetwards). Easy walk to pontoon at low tide, slightly longer and hillier at high tide. Red Lion pub - (3 mins), quirky and friendly. Tired but lovely in its own way.

Very Comfortable and well equipped cottage in a quiet and beautiful location, just as advertised- a sweeping brush and dust pan and brush would be a good addition !
