Lovely property

Our party was 3 adult work friends so we booked a 3 bedroom house. The property is beautiful and we had a fantastic stay however, the third bedroom is really geared up for children rather than an adult. It is very small and the bed wasn’t very comfortable at all. The other bedrooms were fine. Great location and we loved all of the shops.

Compact and comfortable

Our family of five had a great four night stay. The clever design of the house delighted us all and the garden was bigger than we had been expecting. Having parking clocks available was much appreciated too. Many thanks for providing such a welcoming space.

Lovely cottage in a great location

We had a lovely three-night stay in Nutshell Cottage. The property is beautifully designed, with clever use of glass and mirrors to make the most of the space. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and perfectly located close to the town centre. The parking clock worked really well, allowing us to park close by and also in other council car parks in the area. We had no trouble finding space right outside to unload etc. We would book again without hesitation!

a perfect break

We very much enjoyed our stay at nutshell cottage which was well equipped for a family stay with the welcome surprise of a summer house in the garden. We were located within easy reach of the high street, carpark and supermarkets in addition to transport links ( ferry, bus ). There were stunning views and walks nearby and we discovered nearby unspoilt areas of beaches and marshlands. The nearby villages were also very pleasant for the afternoon we went to beaulieu.

A comfortable cottage in a great location!

This is a lovely cottage and was an ideal location for exploring the New Forest and Solent coast. It’s very comfortable with everything that we needed. The town is full of great bars and places to eat. New Forest Escapes made every effort to check we were happy - a very nice touch.

Autumn visit

We were really impressed with Nutshell Cottage - with the layout, the location and the decor! 5 of us stayed (all adults), plus a dog and there was plenty of room for us all. The proximity of the cottage to the High Street and to some excellent pubs and restaurants was fantastic and made for a really relaxing, comfortable stay. We will definitely book again!

Idyllic escape in picture postcard Lymington

My two children and I de-camped to lymington for a week this summer and fell instantly in love with its charms. Beautiful cobbled streets, genuinely friendly locals and set in the heart of the New Forest, Nutshell cottage was perfect for us.

Lovely stylish cottage

We have just returned from a 4 night break, cottage was beautifully presented. Very well thought out fitments and furnishings. House decorated for Christmas, a very nice touch, Comfy 6ft beds and crisp white linen. Great location too.

Great Property in the heart of Lymington

Nutshell Cottage has been thoughtfully designed, is extremely comfortable and has everything you could need inside. It was spotlessly clean inside and the cottage itself is a wonderful place to stay. It is unfortunately let down a little bit by the outside space which has broken furniture and a rather unkempt garden

Perfect spot for a home from home

Nutshell cottage is ideally situated for easy access to all the lymington amenities. It is very well set up for a family with adult children. Very clean and warm with all amenities provide and every need catered for. Very clear instructions on how to access the property. The Christmas tree and decorations with lights on when we arrived made us feel welcome at home straight away

Well equipped cosy cottage in a great location

Nutshell Cottage was located very centrally close to all the Lymington amenities but still plenty of walks from your doorstep, whether through Lymington or towards the coastal nature reserves. Parking requires a bit of effort as you need to use public car park and move the car every 20 hours but that was not too much of a hassle as we planned trips out around this timetable. Cottage itself was very well equipped with nothing material missing for a comfortable stay. Bed was lovely and comfortable. All in all - a great place for a semi-town/semi-country week away.

Excellent base for the New Forest

Lovely house in a central location, close to the High Street and harbour. The property was well equipped, furnished to high standards with a bright & airy feel, the bed was really comfortable with quality linen, and handy to have 2 bathrooms. Also a secure enclosed garden for the dog to patrol! An ideal base for exploring Lymington and the surrounding area. The parking clocks provided were great to have too, both in town and when visiting other places in the New Forest. We would definitely return, and recommend Nutshell Cottage and New Forest Escapes wholeheartedly.

Good location

Nutshell Cottage is very quaint, comfortable and ideally located. We were a group of 5 adults, and found that, for a short stay, we had adequate space. We did have an issue with the heating, so needed some advice as we didn’t want to contravene any rules, however, when a message was left with the managing agents it was not returned. Parking is plentiful in a nearby car park, for which permits are supplied - the parking rules in said car park must be the most esoteric we have ever encountered, even when we enquired with the parking attendant we were none the wiser!

Family summer hol in Lymington

Cottage was great for our family. Living area quite snug for 5 of us but this is clearly stated on the website. Beds very comfy. Kitchen worked well for us, large fridge/freezer is good. Secure back garden. Sofa doesn’t seat 5 and not as comfortable as it looks, so room for improvement. The two parking clocks worked really well. Car park is very close. Appreciated the milk on arrival but some other welcome goodies would have been nice! Overall we had a super week and I would definitely recommend New Forest Escapes.

Lovely cottage

We stayed over October half term and had a fantastic time. It is a great cottage in an excellent location very near to all of the New Forest’s attractions. The town itself is lovely with plenty of pubs and restaurants and the kids had many happy hours walking and fishing for crabs. The cottage is quite small but well set out and was easily big enough for a family of four. It is very comfortable and tastefully decorated and feels very much like home. The parking provision in a nearby car park works very well. My one word of advice is not to even consider parking on the street outside the house unless you are unloading and stay with your car. Despite observing the restrictions we got a parking ticket from an over zealous traffic warden! Overall a great spot and the team managing it are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the area. Would recommend.

Stay at Nutshell

We had a lovely stay at Nutshell cottage and found the location perfect for exploring the coast and New Forest. The location was great for wandering around Lymington and there was lots of choice for places to eat and drink nearby with the kids. We also found the parking really useful, being able to park outside the cottage to load and unload and then having parking permits for the nearby car park which was really close by. The information provided by New Forest Escapes was excellent in helping up plan our activities and meals. The only gripe I had was the finish and condition of the property. Whilst it had clearly been refreshed and modernised inside the finish was pretty poor quality and the cleanliness wasn’t up to the standards I’m used to with these types of properties. Given it’s a small property these finishes really make a difference for the price being paid for the rental.

Nice cottage but unresolved issue with the deposit

Unfortunately we are still waiting for confirmation of final costs to be taken from our deposit. We accidentally broke a pane of glass in a window which we are very sorry about and are happy to pay to be fixed. However we feel we are being taken advantage of with a number of other items added to the list of deductions from our deposit. I quote the following email received 2 weeks after our stay: "we do have part refund of your security deposit from Nutshell. With the addition of the window this alone equates to a higher value. There were also some extra costs to consider such as, missing hose, the broken tree, extra cleaning for property and the bed linens." We accept the cost of the window repair but are unhappy about some of these extra charges, in particular the missing hose. The hose was apparently kept in the garden, we have no memory of the hose and used the garden once during our 4 night stay. In one conversation on the telephone it was suggested we might have accidentally taken the hose home with us because we might have a similar hose at home, a ludicrous claim. Making us pay for the missing hose has resulted in this detailed review, it is a cost I have repeatedly questioned on the telephone with New Forest Escapes, the management company. In these conversations they consider they are the middle person and it is the cleaning contractor who making the demand for payment for a hose and the other additional costs. The extra cleaning cost was apparently a stain on the sofa, there were no spillages. And we have no idea what the problem with the bed linens was, we did not damage them and we stript the beds as requested. Finally we accidentally left our spare car key in the property. This was very kindly offered to be returned to us for a fee taken from the deposit, we are still waiting for return of our car key. Otherwise the property was nice, well appointed and clean with everything you might need. The high street and shops are very close by and the parking arrangements are ok - the public car park is a little walk away. Lymington is nice and the New Forest lovely. I would recommend Hurst Castle and hiring bikes in Brokenhurst and going for a ride on the trails around the New Forest.

Loveliness in a Nutshell

We had never been to Lymington before and we absolutely loved our stay. Nutshell Cottage is delightful and we highly recommend it as the perfect location to explore this beautiful part of the country. A special mention for Jan, the property manager, who was most helpful during our time in this gorgeous town.

This was a wonderful place to stay in Lymington

The property is located right in the centre of town and and the harbour is only a 10 minute walk away. The property has been excellently refurbished and is very comfortable and superbly equipped. Parking is easy as well.

Quaint cottage for non dog owners.

We enjoyed our stay but for a couple of issues which we feel you may like to be aware of. Firstly the settee was found to be too low at the back to relax. The kitchen needs a blind for heat retention and also privacy. We feel that the house is not suitable for a big dog as there is nowhere to wipe down because you have to go through front door straight into living room and on a wet day this could result in lots of mud being flung about.
