Badger's Retreat | East Ruston Cottages

Very dog welcoming property all on one level. Enclosed garden and field views. Plenty of peaceful walks from the door. Ideal for reactive dogs, birdwatchers, wildlife lovers and walkers.

Lounge/kitchen
This is a high ceilinged, generous sized room with amazing inglenook fireplace, lots of interesting art and decorations, comfy sofas and a coffee table. There is a flat-screen smart TV, portable radio, bookshelves and very neatly fitted kitchen including oven, hob, microwave and fridge with plenty of storage space. Off this is the....

Bedroom
Double bed, hanging space and window seat. Beside the bedroom is the ensuite shower room with toilet, sink, chair and hanging space.

Conservatory
This generous and light-filled room has a sofa, coffee table, table and chairs. The conservatory is fully fitted with blinds to ensure privacy. French doors open out onto the spacious lawn of the private garden - a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunlight and peace.
Parking
Off-road parking is on the shared driveway from which guests can access their private garden through the picket gate. There is a path leading to the conservatory access door.

Outside
There is seating on the lawn to enjoy the views across the fields and the peace and quiet on a sunny day (south-facing) plus an additional secluded seating area next to the conservatory. The fencing between the drive and the garden is 5ft reed panels and this extends to the back of the house giving you a good level of privacy from the owners' section of the house. The wall along the front, with the metal gate in, is approximately 3ft high.

The fields opposite are wonderful to watch the sun and the running hares and deer that occasionally cross the fields.

A wonderful dog friendly property!

We had a great week at Badgers Retreat. Kerry and Kev were perfect hosts. 100% dog friendly which allowed us to have a really relaxed week . Our dog Harvey a sprocker spaniel absolutely loved the freedom of the enclosed garden . The welcome pack that the hosts provided us with was very much appreciated. We had a lovely week and would definitely return!

Family Holiday time

We booked Badgers Retreat with Bristows Barn so 10 of us could have a family holiday. Worked brilliantly lovely house for two people think it was a nice quiet escape for our family members after the noise next door. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and bathroom. So many places within easy reach and quiet walks for the dogs. We would definitely book again.

Badgers Retreat - Norfolk

We had a lovely time at badger retreat with our two dog. Hosts where very friendly and accommodating, couldn't do more for us. Very dog friendly with a beautiful country garden enclosed by a low stone fence, enough to keep dogs that do not jump fences within the retreat grounds. Lovely walk along the disused railway track only a few minutes walk from the property and a dog friendly sandy beach a 10 minute drive away.

Relaxing stay

What a lovely place Badgers Retreat is. A beautiful good size secure garden for our dog and us to relax in. Comfortable place to stay with everything provided that we required. A very generous welcome pack and treats for our dog. Enjoyed the nearby walks and quiet Sandy dog friendly beaches. Kerry the owner was on hand but also respected our privacy. Loved the fact she wanted to see us just before we left to make sure we had enjoyed our stay and wish us a safe journey home. Would certainly recommend staying at Badgers Retreat

Lovely stay close to the beach

My husband and I stayed at Badgers Retreat with our three dogs. Accommodation was very comfortable, loved the fire burner for the cold nights and the garden was enclosed which we needed for our dogs. The beaches are beautiful and close to the accommodation so it was ideal for our dog walks

Had a lovely stay in beautiful countryside

Badgers Retreat is in beautiful countryside in a rural location. However it is not far from Tesco's and pubs in the nearby town. Lovely walks along Weavers way and across fields. There are beaches 20 minutes drive away Sea Palling is a nice safe beach for swimming with a cafe and shop. The accomodation is quite small but well designed with a great shower and comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. Kerry and Kevin were very helpful and left a lovely welcome pack . The garden is well cared for with pretty plants and trees . The dogs loved the garden and sleeping under the apple trees.

Badgers Retreat is just perfect to unwind and recharge , we loved our stay and 100% dog friendly xx

Brilliant place to stay we had the best breakaway & Kerry & Kevin are the perfect hosts 5* . Nothing too much trouble and although they live onsite they never intruded on our stay. It was an amazing place exactly what we needed to de-stess and just chill. Beautiful views across the countryside . Brilliant walks , although very much in the countryside , tesco’s and shops less than 10 mins away . Our little dog loved the fully enclosed garden and there was everything we needed in the cottage . We can’t wait to return . Thank you both for making our stay so perfect xx

Restful and comfortable

We had a very restful stay at Badger's Retreat. Friendly and attentive hosts, generous welcome pack, and the property was warm and comfortable. Garden perfect for small dogs, and loads of really super walks from the door.

Feeling a bit disappointed tbh

The property has the potential to be as good as was promised but it’s not there yet. The owners are clearly still renovating it - which we have no problem with if the price is reduced to reflect this. Overall this is probably the poorest rental property we have stayed in. The conservatory wallpaper is falling off the wall - held on with drawing pins, the conservatory was half decorated - new white covering only half of the current bright green, windows were smeary which the host apologised for - but honestly just get a professional window cleaner to do them! The kitchen is tired and needs replacing - the sink was wobbly like a small caravan sink. On meeting us the owner seemed immediately apologetic pointing out all the things she hated about the accommodation - not a great start to our holiday. The bedroom is very cramped -so our dog was not able to enter and sleep on the floor with us - and with the wardrobe immediately on one side meant we were not even able to have comfortable morning cuppa in bed. However on a positive note the views are incredible, the bed was extremely comfortable and the lounge area is quite spacious and the fireplace, although not used, is impressive. In summary price needs to be reduced until it’s all completed.

A Week In Heavan.

Very good to wind down and plenty of nice walks. The surrounding area is great and we had good weather. The cottage was w arm and clean and very dog friendly, we think our dogs enjoyed it as much as us. hoping for a return next year or a longer stay

A very relaxing week.

We’ve stayed at Badgers Retreat previously, so knew that we’d enjoy another week here. We don’t go far, walks on Weavers Way and trips to the local beaches followed by snoozing in the conservatory (not just the dogs!). Terri and Richard are great hosts, they keep the place clean and tidy and the garden is great for our dogs.

Wonderful Short Break

We had a lovely few day staying at Badger's Retreat. The owner Terri met us on arrival and showed us around the property. We were very grateful for the welcome pack and the cottage was perfect for two people and two dogs, we were very comfortable. The location was great for us as there are plenty of walks from the door and lots of lovely beaches a short drive away. We would definitely recommend and return.
