The Cottage

The location of the property was in the centre of the village with lots of shops, pubs very close by. Could do with new sharper knives.

We had a perfect pre-Christmas family gathering. Thick snow, beautiful atmosphere in the village, church bells, carols… The house is very comfortable, warm and stylish. We enjoyed staying here very much

A lovely two night stay at the cottage.

The location was perfect with many walks and was close to Bakewell. The cottage was pristine and we felt right at home with the cosy feel and comfortable beds. The only downside was the bells chiming every 15 minutes so would definitely recommend ear plugs if staying in the front two bedrooms!

Really lovely house - looks just like the photos

Really lovely house - looks just like the photos. Great space for family/friends as the kitchen is open plan with a good sized island and dining area. Sitting room space is also great. Amazing location in the centre of beautiful Tideswell with pubs, restaurants and shops all in walking distance. Some people have mentiobed the church bells but rhey did not bother us at all - just adds to the character and village feel. Bedrooms are comfortable and a good size. We all had a very lovely stay.

Would highly recommend for families, beautiful property in a great location.

Location was great, nice and central for amenities and walks. 2 families stayed here and we had plenty of space, excellent facilities, very clean and comfortable. Really liked that games, books etc were all provided. Local amenities all accommodating for the dogs we had with us, and local café served excellent breakfast! Great communication with instructions and information before we arrived.

Great location for southern peak district, Buxton, Bakewell etc. Although the property was great there are a few signs of wear and tare, could do with a little TLC soon.

Memorable stay for our family to attend a family wedding at Eyam

Good location, plenty of space, comfortable & well equipped nice decor - very homey. Door knob on first bedroom door on right falls off!!

All six guests extremely satisfied and would still have had plenty of room for eight if needed.

The location is a perfect base for visiting all places and as a starting place for walks. Excellent eating out if needed - all dog friendly. Accommodation spacious, clean and very well equipped. A couple of minor things which were not worth even contacting host about but left a note at end.

Recently renovated with HUGE kitchen!

The inside looks to be recently renovated with a HUGE kitchen. Lots of sitting room and great bedrooms. The location could not have been any better either. Great host, very responsive and helpful. Nothing!

We had an amazing stay at The Cottage! Tideswell is the perfect location to stay in - easily drivable to other great Peak District locations. It also has a few great pubs and restaurants/ shops within walking distance. We found it really handy to have the co-op so close by. The Cottage itself was cosy and we felt like it was a home away from home. The beds were really comfortable. The only thing to note would be the parking, there is no allocated space, it is all public parking. This sometimes meant we had to park far 5 mins (ish) away and walk, this was no problem for us, but something for others to note!

Lovely Spacious House

A lovely spacious house well positioned in the middle of Tideswell. Clean, tidy and well decorated, and a great base for exploring the Peaks. it was just what we needed for a short family break. There appears to be a leak from the upstairs bath, possibly due to a loose bath overflow, that leaks out from under the bath on the floor near the door.

Place was located well in centre of Tideswell

Place was located well in centre of Tideswell. Good character cottage. Parking can be a problem out front as there is limited space. A few minor issues such as limited instructions for heating controls and some items/ areas in the kitchen were not clean but nothing major and we dealt with it ourselves. Overall, would stay again.

This was a perfect holiday cottage with lots of space for our friends and family reunion

The property is spacious, and nicely decorated. It’s calm and a homely space to return to after a day out. The location is very beautiful and convenient. It’s excellently placed for pubs, cafe, supermarket next door open all hours, and some nice walks from the village. It was great that soap is provided. Fresh mint outside the front door was a bonus. It wld be nicer to have the main dining room window cleaned. A bigger coffee pot for a house that sleeps 8 people.

Family celebration

The house was absolutely perfect, lots of space for everyone, including the dogs. My only complaint was tge lack of cooking pots and serving plates, plus there was no plates/cups etc for small children when there was a cot and stair gate so i would expext those extras.

Ideal location and lovely property for a gathering of family or friends.

The communication from Finest Retreats was excellent. The information about the cottage was accurate. The information booklet in the property was very helpful. The location was perfect and the property was very comfortable. The complimentary biscuits on arrival were greatly appreciated. No kitchen roll or spare toilet rolls. No hand soap in the ground floor toilet. Ground floor shower partially blocked, and very slow to drain away.

Lovely cottage! Second time we stayed

Lovely cottage! Second time we stayed. I do think they should warn people about the bells and prepare people to bring earplugs! It isn’t too much of a bother but for light sleepers, you will need ear plugs for the front room. Blind in front room needs fixing which I saw had been mentioned in a previous review, I do think they could leave a few more toilet rolls out for the price you pay, and the bread knife is blunt and needs updating! Otherwise, great location, lovely stay, clean and comfortable!

New Year week stay in the Cottage at Tideswell

Our second new year in the Cottage and really pleased with the upgrades to the bathrooms and bedrooms. Absolutely no issues during our stay which was lovely. Spacious accommodation in a perfect location. A heat resistant glove for use with the log burner in the lounge would useful as the handle gets extremely hot during use. Also a pair of tongs to add logs to the fire would be helpful. The kitchen knives weren’t sharp and perhaps need reviewing and replacing on a regular basis. Impossible to carve the new year roast

Overall a good property with only a few small things that require attention.

Great size to cater for our party of seven. The outside courtyard at the rear needed tidying and cleaning generally. The kitchen tap isn’t fixed to the sink and requires a plumber to tighten it. There were splashes of liquid to the cupboard side which had not been cleaned. Also the fridge door doesn’t close properly and requires adjustment.
