The house is beautiful and really well equipped. The road to the house off the main road is terrible but manageable with care. It is spotlessly clean and the cleaning team particularly Sonia are amazing. The beds, sheets pillows & towels and amenities were really good quality. The pool is fabulous and we enjoyed spending time there. Though mosquito spraying around the pool and trees and outside dining table would be good. Some individual umbrellas around the pool needed. Shade available if everyone sits under two larger umbrellas.We had a number of issues during our stay which were sorted. We were without any water in the kitchen or bathrooms on a Sunday for 4 hrs. The owner got involved. We also had some issues with air con- an engineer cleaned units but this took my time going around with him. The electrics went another time - easily fixable as a switch just tripped. The bbq gas cylinder went during lunch, why isn’t there a spare? Dealing with the house manager on cleaning services was a painful experience. We found a great car service ourselves called Benjo Tuscany Tours. The house would benefit from a manual / services folder for guests. The biggest disruptive issue was incessant barking from dogs in 2/3 nearby kennels/dog training facilities in the area, during mornings, afternoons and evenings. This so needs to be properly addressed.Complaining and sorting things out in a house wasn’t any fun for me and certainly not at this property’s pricing.

Deirdre, thank you for your positive comments. I hope you had a great time while you were here! I’d like to address your negative comments individually. You suggested spraying against mosquitoes - this is something our gardeners do several times throughout the year already. We are considering buying more umbrellas for the pool area however there are already two XL umbrellas there and other shaded areas to sit such as outside the summer kitchen and the outdoor dining area - both are well shaded with umbrellas/canopies and very comfortable. The water issue on a Sunday was unfortunate and was dealt with as quickly as possible. To apologise we organised a catered breakfast for your group free of charge. I wasn’t aware of your air con issue or the electrics tripping. I am here just now and the air con is perfect - too cold in fact! I will make sure there is always a spare gas cylinder for the bbq. Thank you for flagging this. You mentioned that dealing with our house manager to arrange cleaning was painful - I’m sorry that was your experience. I understand that your requests were last minute during peak summer season when our cleaners are very busy and therefore it was sometimes difficult to arrange the changeovers and cleaning requested during your two week stay. I’m sorry the dog barking was so annoying during your stay. These are two local kennel businesses that we cannot avoid. I am at the property just now and it is not an issue. You are the first guest to complain about this - I’m really sorry it was so annoying for you.

Tuscan family holiday

A family holiday for 8 booked originally in 2019 and carried forward because of Covid. So delighted that we did as we had an absolutely fabulous time in fantastic surroundings. The villa is large, comfortable and extremely well equipped with typically glorious Tuscan views. Great swimming pool and plenty of places to sit and eat. Great communication with the owner and the housekeeper couldn’t have been more helpful.

Historic, Amazing Tuscan Villa in an Astonishing Location

We enjoyed an amazing stay for a week in this incredible Villa. The Villa is finished to a very high standard and how wonderful to have the olive oil presses still in place. We were a party of 10 and we easily fitted in this Villa with plenty of space to spare. Sitting outside on the Veranda was a dream - we loved watching the sparking lights of the surrounding towns. The pool is superb and really interesting being formed in the old mill pond. This Villa is a dream and we hope to return. The hairpin bends to access the Villa were no problem and there was plenty of extra space on each bend to help with the turn. We even managed to get our Mercedes Viano (Van) up and down the hairpins. Also, there are mosquitos, as in most of the countryside of Italy; they are not a problem, just lather up with insect repellent, The Villa has gauze on the windows to "encourage" the mosquitos not to enter the Villa. Finally, it is well worth mentioning the very efficient air conditioning. The whole house was comfortable at all times. We felt incredibly welcome in this super Villa which is clearly loved by Emma and Damian. Emma, the (very lucky) Owner of this amazing Villa, provided fabulous communication and managed to get us a booking at Da Benitos in Orentano. The food is fabulous. There is no menu, just classic, wonderful Italian food for Italians. Damian, the Property Manager, was incredibly helpful especially with helping us to find the Villa in the first place and also sorting out problems with the gas (now all fixed). Tastemotions (Valentino & Larisa, the caterers) are incredible; they provided what was surely a Michelin starred meal with attentive, friendly service. Their meal will be a family memory forever - as will be our stay in this dream Villa. Grazie Mille, Emma, Damian and All

Amazing place

As part of the family vacation, we had a great time in the lovingly renovated olive mill. The house and the complex leave nothing to be desired, we all felt very comfortable. The contact with the owner Emma and the manager Damian was very cordial, questions or problems were taken care of immediately. A wonderful holiday, we'll be back.

Fantastiskt boende

Ett boende som har allt. Innan ankomst - mycket bra kontakt och värdefull information från värden Emma Dobbie. Vid ankomst tog Damian emot oss och var mycket trevlig och berättade om huset och visade oss runt. Huset och tillhörande pool nyttjades fullt under vår vistelse. Vi var tre generationer som var tillsammans under 1 vecka. Alla uppskattade vistelsen. Huset var utrustat med allt man kan behöva. Inredningen, rummen ja allt var väldigt genomtänkt, vackert och funktionellt. Trevliga uteplatser både för avkoppling och gemensamma måltider. Vi anlitade Tastemotion, Larisa och Valentino för två middagar. De var båda mycket trevliga och förgyllde våra middagar med deras sätt att vara och med supergod mat. Villan kan varmt rekommenderas. Amazing Villa

The setting of the villa is spectacular, overlooking the Tuscan valley. Sitting at the pool, you can see for miles and there is a great hike right outside the villa to the next town, high up on a hilltop. The rooms are all gracious, with comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms. Each room has a great view out the window. There are a lot of stairs in case that is an issue for people. The kitchen and outdoor seating areas were large enough to accommodate our group of 9. Communication with the owner and caregiver was easy. They both helped a lot with making reservations, setting up excursions and navigating challenges that popped up during the week. They made the whole experience so much better.

Fabulous Italian villa accessible to amazing sites

Our group of 12 friends and family just wrapped up our week at the Frantoio. Plain and simple, the villa was superb. Spacious and comfortable bedrooms were matched by beautiful common space. Both inside and out. Sites such as Siena, Lucca and Cinque Terre were all just a short drive away. To make matters even better, Linda and George Rough were warm, welcoming and helpful property managers. They recommended a local husband and wife cooking team, Tastemotion, who prepares incredible dinners for our group. It was an affordable luxury that made all the difference in the world . It’s hard to imagine that we will not choose to return to the Frantoio.

Tuscany vacation

We had an amazing time at this beautiful house. It was perfect and had everything we wanted. Plan to definitely go back. The owners were so helpful and caring. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Perfect family getaway

We booked the Frantoio for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration with our children and grandchildren. We couldn't have chosen a better place. It is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of "meeting" places for little chats private drinks, etc., as families do! The swimming pool was a terrific hit with all of us. Clean and well maintained, it was one of the highlights of our stay. The other "luxury" that was recommended and was worth splashing out for, was having Valentino and Larissa (recommended by Linda and George) come to cook dinners for us. Valentino is a great and inventive chef, and Larissa the most charming hostess. Excellent! Finally, and very importantly, the property managers, Linda and George. They greeted and made us feel so welcome, were available any time we needed them, and were great and amusing company when they popped in to enjoy a glass of wine with us. It all helped to make our special holiday a very relaxing, enjoyable and memorable time. Thank you

Complete luxury!

The property looked amazing on the listing and it didn’t disappoint. Rooms were airy and spacious, beds super comfy, multiple kitchens that were very well equipped but the best thing was definitely the pool. All three generations were in the pool at least twice a day. George and Linda were excellent hosts and provided us with great ideas and useful info for our holiday. They had recommended Tastemotions (Larisa and Valentino) for coming to the villa to cook a meal for us. They came twice to cook for us and they were so delicious. We also went on a vine tour with Larisa which was fantastic, Larisa was a wonderful host. Shame it was only a week but would definitely be back in a heartbeat. Thank you George and Linda.

Wonderful property with stunning views

We stayed for a week in June with 3 adults and two toddlers and had an excellent time at the villa. Linda and George who live up the hill and manage the property could not be more helpful, friendly, and accommodating. All of their recommendations were excellent and they immediately answered any questions we had and resolved any issues we encountered during our stay. The home can be a little tricky to find, but once you know what to look for, it's easy. There isn't a ton of flat lawn, so there are less areas for toddlers to play outside, but the pool area is amazing and our kids had a great time playing in the living room. The villa balances elements of the historical olive mill with modern fixtures and amenities. The layout, with multiple suites, is perfect for a family reunion or large group. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful property!

The house was better than the pictures! The views, and comfort of the villa were exceptional. We were there with our adult kids and it was everything we could have wanted. Beds comfortable lots of space. Beware this property has lots of stairs but not a problem for us. Thank you Linda and George for all your help.

Incredible home, Incredible vacation!

I cannot say enough about this Villa, or caretaker George and Linda. We were three families traveling for a week together. Six adults and six kids, who love to spend time together, but also crave their own space. This house was PERFECT. Not only was it beautiful, clean and well-stocked, the layout of the space was beyond. Each family had their own wing, which helped when putting the kids to sleep (or when one family woke up early.) We stay in luxury hotels all over the world, and this house lived up to it. Everything we needed was there and more. The kitchens were top of the line, the view from the pool was amazing, and the location near Pisa Airport and Lucca could not be better. Our biggest regret was not booking Tastemotions to cook for us every night. We booked them for three, and it was not enough. Their food was delicious, better than any restaurant we ate at. And having them cook for us made the vacation so relaxing. I would recommend this home 100 x over. We would def stay there again. George and Linda were around to answer any questions we had, and the goof around with our kids. They were lovely hosts!

Absolutely Stunning

The property is amazing! Linda and George, the managers, assure that every detail is covered. The landscaping is beautiful. The kitchen is fully equipped. Linda and George are a wealth of knowledge regarding the area. As my husband would say, "It is the closest thing to heaven. "

A perfect villa for a family holiday

If this villa is available, we recommend that you book it. It is a perfect venue for a family holiday in a beautiful part of Tuscany. George and Linda were very welcoming hosts. They were kind and helpful, and offered very good advice about places to visit and local amenities. The villa is very well equipped and beautifully furnished. The rooms are spacious and the air conditioning very effective. The pool is fabulous, suitable for swimming and paddling, with ample pool-side shade. With Linda's help we arranged for local chefs Larissa and Valentino (from TasteMotions) to come to the villa; on the first night they cooked beautiful food, and on the second we had an engaging pasta-making lesson. It is peaceful and secluded but only a short distance from Pisa and Lucca. It is an ideal location for a multigenerational holiday.

Perfect Hideaway for a big Family

The house is difficult to find, especially at night: no sign at the turn-off from the road. But once there things couldn't be better. Top quality furniture, kitchen, bathrooms, everything in perfect working condition and sparkling clean. Ample supply of Nespresso capsules makes waking up a pleasure. Other Highlights: the pool and the breathtaking view from everywhere, sunrise, moonrise: very romantic! The Location is off the beaten path (which is a bonus), but close enough to Lucca, Pisa, the beach, but not too far from Florence and the Chianti Region. The Managers Linda and George are always available with good recommendations for where to go and what to do, and - a highlight: organising a professional chef/sommeliere couple to cook private 5-star dinners at the property! Anyone interested in an unforgettable vacation should book The Frantoio!

Fabulous house! Highly recommended.

We were three families in this house, during a heat wave, and we had a fantastic vacation. The house itself is newly renovated and very tastefully restored and decorated. Between the mosquito-proof windows and the air-conditioning - and of course the pool - we were all very comfortable, day and night. The house is large, and we had plenty of room to spread out, even with 6 kids. Linda and George were hugely helpful and responsive to questions and requests, and just lovely, all round. This is one of the best houses we have ever stayed in as a family - I can't recommend it highly enough.

Italian countryside retreat

What a lovely place! We thoroughly enjoyed The Frantoio and were so happy our blended family of 10 had this beautiful Italian countryside experience. The individual suites provided plenty of privacy and the air conditioning was highly appreciated in the July heat. There were also plenty of areas to explore and relax and the entire crew loved the pool and it’s views, and our nightly dinners on the terrace. Linda and George are thoughtful, informative hosts who took the time to make sure everyone was comfortable. Lastly, we HIGHLY recommend Taste Motions for their authentic, fabulous Italian cooking by Larissa and Valentino. They treat you with such kindness and respect, they take care of everything from setting the table, to serving their locally inspired food, to cleaning up afterwards. All at a very reasonable price! The Frantoio is a very special place and we were thankful for the experience and the lovely people we met along the way.

The Frantoio

Our family consisting of 6 adults and 3 young children had the pleasure of staying at The Frantoio in July 2018 we received a warm Scottish welcome from Linda and George who were very helpful throughout our stay, the house is great for a large group with plenty of spaces to be together plus plenty of areas if you wanted some quiete and privacy, there was nothing that we could have wanted that was not already provided for in the house and the kids loved the pool. The location is also great with a short journey to Pisa and Lucca and to catch a train to Florence plus plenty of small villages nearby. The highlight of the holiday was having Taste Motions in to cook and serve a meal one night the food was lovely with wine served to go with it I would recommend anyone staying to use them for at least one night during the holiday.

I have worked in the travel industry for 25 years so I am very critical when reviewing properties. My family of 10 spent a wonderful week at the Frantoio our only regret is that we didn't have two weeks From the warmest welcome by Linda and George upon arrival until our departure it was a perfectly perfect week. Linda and George were available for all of our needs, making recommendations and reservations throughout our stay Including the magical night with Larissa and Valentino. Linda and George were our personal concierge The Frantoio itself is impeccably furnished and maintained with more space then we imagined. The grounds and pool area are manicured to perfection. This is an outstanding villa that will not disappoint We look forward to a return visit Dick & Jean Davis

This is an unbelievable property!

We so enjoyed our stay at this property and far exceeded our expectations! WOW! The property is beautiful and so well maintained -- the best property we have EVER rented! But equally stellar were George and Linda, who helped us in many ways with suggestions of hikes and restaurants. We wish we would have booked for two weeks and hope to return very soon. Thank you for making our stay unforgettable!

Family

What a wonderful place! Very relaxing once you travel the narrow road up to the villa with a unique charm. George and Linda are gracious hosts and were very helpful and most welcoming!! The house and kitchen are well supplied, and it is a top quality rental. We also used a local chef who was wonderful! This villa is a gem!!!

Amazing Tuscan Villa that was even better than we had imagined

Our group of 11 adults had a great stay at The Frantoio. Picturesque grounds. The house is very nicely decorated. Linda & George made us feel very welcome. The olive press room was a great place to have dinner. Lots of great food & wine thanks to our private chef & sommelier, Valentino & Larisa from Tastemotions, who our hosts recommended. Some of our best meals were in the villa. The living room was very comfortable and a great place for the whole group to unwind each night. The location was good for traveling to Lucca (approximately 25 minute drive) or Florence (approximately 45 minute drive). We had a busy schedule of sightseeing all week but would have liked to have spent more time enjoying The Frantoio. I highly recommend this beautiful villa.

A sublime villa in a perfect setting

The standard of finish is exemplary and the location is sublime. Plenty of good places to eat and to buy provisions. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped for any level of chef. The managers are both sociable and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. They make the place extra special and can be relied upon to provide local knowledge and expertise. Another fabulous stay.
