Beautiful cottage in the woods, quiet, close to beach and State Park

Great cottage for a couple. Very quiet and private. Bocce court, outdoor grill and a large screened porch make relaxing easy. The cottage is located adjacent to Lamoine State Park and is one mile to the town park at Lamoine Beach. Kayaks and boats are easily launched at either location. Many outdoor activities and sight seeing trips are easily acessed, including Acadia National Park and the less traveled downeast coastal areas. Excellent dining and shopping are close by in Ellsworth. The owners live nearby and are always available if needed. Please read our Homeway reviews, people love the cottage and the location.

The cottage is really charming, located off the beaten path and very convenient to Acadia National Park. It was built from wood milled on the property. Everything was comfortable and pleasant from the futon bed in the loft to the woodstove in the living area. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Excellent Little Cabin

This cabin is in an excellent location, just 35 mins outside of downtown Bar Harbor. Perfect for a couple & their pup to enjoy all the attractions of the local area.

What a beautiful place! Eric and Diane are wonderful hosts and the cabin is amazing. It's quiet, peaceful, super clean, and has everything you need for the perfect getaway. It is located in a great area close enough to many stores, as well as delicious lobster pounds and ice cream places. Not too far from Acadia National Park and close to Bar Harbor and many other wonderful beach towns. Highly recommend!!

This is a lovely little cottage that was the perfect getaway for my wife and me. It had a nice, cozy, homey feel, and everything you could need, while still being a simple space. Eric was also very friendly and gave good advice on the area. It was ideally located for having easy access to lots of things to do, while still being a quiet and peaceful retreat. We absolutely loved it!

Peaceful getaway

This cabin in the woods was the perfect place to escape our day to day. We saw lots of wildlife and enjoyed the nearby beaches and parks. Great kitchen amenities!

Cozy Cottage

The cottage was private and cozy! It was clean and has all the essentials you need. I loved the wood stove and the scenery. I would highly recommend!

The best cabin we have ever stayed in.

Fantastic location. Loved the beautiful cabin. We wish we could take it home with us. Eric came and personally welcomed us and showed us how to work the great wood burner. Enjoyed the solitude of the home away from home after a busy day. Wonderful vacation.

So Relaxing

Our perfect getaway is a day of long hikes and then staying where we can privately relax and cook our own breakfast and dinners. This was so perfect and reminded us of our favorite place in Idyllwild. Managing the wood stove just added to our Maine experience. Cannot thank Eric and Diane enough for creating this space of serenity.

Serenity now

Serene. The only noise was the birds and the crickets. Even nicer in person. If you are looking for privacy, you found it in this little cottage made out of the wood that was milled from the property. Eric is super nice! Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Nature lovers dream

Enjoyed lots of wildlife just by looking out the window! Owls, song birds, porcupine and a bobcat. Relaxing. The only thing that could be improved, the mattress on the bed.

The BEST

Eric is so friendly and informative. The cabin is rustic, saw wildlife almost everyday. I can't say enough about how perfect it was for us. No TV!! Total wind down and disconnect while we were there exploring Acadia. Overall fabulous experience!

Private quiet cabin in the woods near Lamoine Beach and state park

We love staying at Upback Cottage! Eric and Diane are wonderful people and their cabin is so quaint and unique and has everything a person needs to recoup and relax from a busy life! This is our fourth time staying here and we highly recommend it to couples looking to escape! I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the area! We rode bikes to the beach up the road. Went to Acadia hiking, biking, climbing and into bar harbor for shopping. We discovered the Oceanarium this year which was a hidden gem! They have knowledgeable staff and a great touch tank and tons of baby lobsters! We couldn’t be more happy and look forward to continuing our tradition staying at Upback cottage!

Highly recommend to anyone who wishes to enjoy nature, cool climate and a back woods cottage in Maine. The location is 15 minutes from Bar Harbor (tourist spot) and Acadia National Park. My wife and I enjoyed the cottage for its back to nature atmosphere that provides peace and quiet! In the woods with all that nature has to offer. We are beyond thrilled with the setting, the hosts, and the location. We plan to go to Maine again and this will be the cottage where we stay again.

Dream Vacation

My fiancé and I stayed here for five nights during the end of August into early September. He proposed at Acadia National Park on the Ocean Path trails just outside of Bar Harbor. Going back to this cozy cabin was the most amazing celebration. It was the perfect location. Close enough to all attractions yet private enough to not feel like a tourist. We enjoyed the nature scenes surrounding the cottage. Hosts were very nice and accommodating. We enjoyed the wood stove at night to keep us warm. My favorite vacation by a long shot and would love to revisit.

Beautiful Getaway

very nice cottage

The cottage is well crafted of rough cut spruce pine. Kitchen well stocked and plenty of good towels and bedding. The ladder to the loft bedroom was easy to use, but if you are 6 ft. or taller your going to have to bent over so you do not hit your head on the rafters. Beautiful sunrises less then 1 mile down the road at Lamoine Beach. Eric was a great host. About 20-25 min. to Acadia NP.

Great little sanctuary!

Everything from checking in to check out was extremely easy. The hosts lived in the property, so it was nice knowing they were there if needed. Perfect little get away spot. Secluded, peaceful and cozy. Had everything you need. Location to Acadia and other areas was within 30 minutes. Close enough to enjoy all the tourist attractions, but far enough to get away from the busy areas. Place was spotless and well maintained. Thank you!

Private Sanctuary

Sweet space in the woods of a low key town, very close to the high traffic and tourist driven Bar Harbor. It was easy to experience the best of both worlds. The property is adorable, unique, and private.

Up Back Cottage

Perfect get away place. Quiet and peaceful, but close to Acadia and surrounding attractions. Eric and Diane are great hosts and were available if we had questions. The cottage had everything we needed for our week of vacation. The cottage itself is beautiful. It is bright despite being surrounded by trees. Lots of windows and ventilation. Two fans were provided and we were very comfortable during three days of high 80‘s. The shower has great pressure and the bed is very comfortable. We loved it and would go back. The screened in porch is great as well. Gives you the feeling of being outside without being eaten by mosquitos.

Simply amazing!

We loved this cute get away cottage! Super clean & has a beautiful screened in porch that our doggies loved. It's a pleasant retreat after a busy day at the park. 20 minute drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. There are supplies so you can cook your own lobster! Lamoine Beach is super close, on our last day we got up early to see the 4:51 am sunrise on the beach and heard a whale! Maine is absolutely gorgeous. We'd definitely rent this again ! :)

Wonderful place to stay!

We absolutely loved this place! We spent 4 nights here while exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia. It was clean, wood was provided for the fireplace, and the kitchen was stocked with enough items to make basic meals. Our dog loved exploring the area. We weren’t sure how we would feel climbing a ladder to go to bed every night but the loft is super cozy!

Amazing!

We came up from Boston for a wedding in Bangor & this cottage couldn’t have been more perfect. Secluded in the woods & was in amazing location. It was such a nice place to unplug for a while. We met Eric on the third day and he was such a nice guy, super accommodating. We’ll definitely be back!!

The Perfect Getaway

Maine has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I love coastal living. My husband and I planned a trip to Bar Harbor/Acadia for a week and this was the perfect home base for us. It was quiet, clean, well stocked, and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. This is the perfect place for a single person or couple. The house is well stocked with a full kitchen and bathroom. The pictures portray the property accurately. It was quiet, private, and comfortable. We would stay again in a heart beat.

Great little get-away

We loved our week at Eric's and Diane's cabin. It was cozy and comfortable with everything we needed for a memorable stay in the Acadia region. We couldn't have asked for more.

We are Eric and Diane and have lived together in a 1790's farmhouse on our Lamoine property for 15 years. The cottage was built in 2005. We both work locally, Diane is a nurse mid-wife at our local hospital and Eric is a tennis teaching professional. We love to hike, kayak and garden in the summer months.

We love our cottage in the woods and spend many nights there when we can. A great friend of ours built the cottage with lumber from our property and there is a lot of love built in. Our home and the cottage are located on a large piece of undeveloped land that has been in Eric's family for 40 years.
