Stunning contemporary barn style retreat with all modern conveniences surrounded by open farmland - yet only a few minutes from all facilities / shops / bars and restaurants to the West of Aberdeen. This is an excellent base to explore the glorious countryside of Aberdeenshire / Royal Deeside / the Cairngorms. All just a few minutes drive from the airport.

Responses by the host to a couple of questions we had were almost instantaneous.The house was very clean and my sister commented that the bed linen smelt amazing.We were so lucky with the weather during our stay. We sat out for breakfast and lunch in September..The space was just perfect for our family gathering to celebrate a 80th birthday. There is so much storage and the kitchen is very well equipped.

The property is dirty. The host is rude, there were 0 amenities, the house smells due to water issues, there's barely any water pressure or hot water in the "master" suite. The directions given by the host take you to the wrong place. The smell is truly the worst part. When we asked the owner to have the tap fixed he was extremely rude and said "dont you care about architecture"? No actually I dont. I care about proper service, cleanliness and value for money. This place is not at all worth the money.

This is a bizarre review from possibly the most unpleasant / guest we have ever accommodated. He contacted us shortly after arrival to say he was disappointed with the amenities - amenities being by his definition - no sparkling water / no playing cards / no olive oil. We responded to say that no - we don’t provide bottled water. Being located in rural Scotland the tap water is drinkable and usually very cold. He then raised the issue that the kitchen tap was leaking. We arranged for the tap to be replaced the following morning. If guests are having difficulty following directions they can always contact us and we can assist them. No mention of having difficulty locating the property was raised. Given the petty issues that were raised about ‘sparkling water’, we are pretty sure that if the property had been dirty or there was any smell we would have heard about it immediately. The facts are that these issues were not raised by this guest. Prior to arrival he had enquired as to whether it would be ok to host a dinner for 8 guests with a private chef to which we said yes. And they asked if we provide a barbecue - which we don’t … because they are never left in anything remotely resembling a useable condition. This guest was rude & entitled throughout. Life is too short for this kind of drama / hysteria. If your definition of a successful stay is sparkling water/cards then you are missing the point of these stunning properties in the Aberdeenshire Countryside.

Well equipped open concept house

Everything was great. It was well equipped and very open and spacious. Great location for us, not too close and not too far from the city.

Beautiful area & lodge

The views are beautiful! Really nice, quiet area. We had 6 ppl in our group and there was more than enough space, bedrooms & bathrooms for all of us. The house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen had an amazing layout! Great cooking space, (could have used a few more pans as they weren’t in the best shape but we made do), lots of dishes and cutlery. We had a great time! Getting there was a little tricky, but we found Apple Maps and the hosts instructions worked much better than google maps.

Family Stay

When we arrived the driveway was full of potholes and the lawns were overgrown with the paved ouside areas full of weeds. However on contacting the owners this was taken care of enabling the children to play outside. Over-all we had a great stay even though the property is in need of a little maintenance.

Gourdon Trip

What a stunning part of the world this is! We stayed in 2 adjacent properties as an extended family of 14. The property was beautiful, in a picturesque location with all you would need for a get together of any kind. We came up to Aberdeenshire to scatter my Dad's ashes in a nearby village and it was the perfect balance of remote and within travelling distance of Aberdeen and surrounding areas. I can't recommend the property and the area/location highly enough

The property is absolutely gorgeous The kitchen and open area are fantastic for hanging out in Top quality kitchen appliances and loads of glasses and dishes to make it very easy to host a large party’s including two caffitiers, a lovely tea pot, wine and water carafe, pads of spare cupboard space if you want a slightly extended stay. The washing machine and dishwasher made it really easy and homely to stay in. The views are out of this world (lovely in every bedroom).Comfortable beds and extra bedding added to the experience. Just loved it We removed a star (wish we could only take away half a star as it seems mean taking a whole star away for small issues) as there are a few areas that need updating. There is a large floorboard in the hall that was out of place and a trip hazard for my aunties and no door handle in one of the bathrooms so our shampoos got locked inside and we were unable to use the shower. There was a slight shortage of towels too and we all would have loved mirrors in the bedroom so we could get party ready in our rooms. It would also have been easier if the gardens were enclosed so you didn’t have to watch the dogs every time they went out for a wee.Other than that it is a BEAUTIFUL location and beautiful clean and comfortable property where everyone felt relaxed. There were people schooling horses in the fields out of the window and that was blissful to see.We all said that we would come back and would recommend it to friends.
