Keeper’s Cottage is located just around the corner from the stunning Fishery which makes the perfect morning stroll after breakfast. The Home Farm Courtyard, which is about a 10-minute walk away, is also home to our local farm shop and shared heated swimming pool.

Wonderful place to stay!

We all loved Keeper’s Cottage! What a beautiful, peaceful location! It was so nice to sit or eat outdoors enjoying the sunshine and the view. It was spacious and comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The private swimming pool sessions were great and easy to book online. We have stayed on the Graythwaite estate a couple of times before, but were disappointed that the fishing on the lake is now private and expensive - the fishing was the main reason we chose Keeper’s Cottage!

Thank you for your lovely review. We’re so pleased to hear you enjoyed Keeper’s Cottage, the peaceful setting and the private swimming sessions. We do understand your disappointment regarding the fishing, particularly as this was the main reason you chose Keeper’s Cottage. Previously, we allowed guests to fish on the tarn when requested, although it wasn’t something we advertised as an included facility. The tarn hadn’t been stocked for many years, so the fishing was fairly limited, although it could still be enjoyable for families. The Boathouse Café now manages the café and tarn and has invested considerably in restocking and improving the fishing. We do appreciate that the cost may be disappointing, though, and we will certainly pass your comments on to them. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back to Graythwaite in the future.

A great place for a large group of family/friends, which is why we keep coming back

This was our fourth stay at Keepers Cottage, so we knew exactly what to expect in terms of location and amenities. We keep coming back because the cottage offers everything we need, and it's great to be able to just walk out the door and explore the surrounding estate; or head down to the lake and walk along to the West Windermere Way. The upgrade of the Internet from ADSL to Starlink was very welcome, as it made streaming TV practical. It was also great to see that the kitchen has accumulated various useful items over the years; what was once a bit spartan now feels more like home from home.

Excellent

Our 4th year at Graithwaite, and as usual this property was clean and comfortable, everything we needed. One of the ladies has asked that I mention as mirror in one of the downstairs bedrooms would be useful.

Great cottage for family gathering

Lovely cottage in quiet spot, with lovely view. Good location for heading into Windermere via the ferry and easy drive up into Ambleside and beyond. Plenty of room for two families. Nice to have the shop, office and pool close by too

Great accommodation for our recent business trip

The house couldn't have been more perfect for our us. We needed a place that would accommodate up to 8 people for a business trip. It was comfortable, clean and well equipped in a great location. The estate staff were very helpful when we needed to extend our stay at the cottage.

Lovely cottage in an amazing location.

We all really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was in a lovely location, ideal for walking and mountain biking. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The only negative was the really poor WiFi. Most of the time it wasn't even possible to browse the internet. As there is no mobile phone signal at the cottage, it would have helped to have reliable WiFi. We would all love to stay at the cottage again in the future!

Wonderful Christmas holiday at Keepers Cottage.

We stayed at Keepers Cottage for Christmas with my sister and her family and we couldn’t have wished for anywhere better. The cottage is in a beautiful location with walks straight from the doorstep. We were provided with a Christmas tree and lights, plenty of wood for the fire and the cottage itself is beautiful, clean and homely. Booking the swimming pool was easy and straight forward and the pool itself was clean and warm, my son loved it! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anybody wanting a holiday that really takes you away from it all, such a peaceful and memorable holiday. Thank you, we will be back!

Light the Lakes

Really lovely cottage. There were some minor cosmetic things that needed addressing however, overall it was a lovely cottage. I just wish we have more time to enjoy it and the local area. For the Light the Lakes event though it was very remote, and on our part we needed to plan ahead more with our food and maybe should of had a Tesco's delivery. A couple of times we popped to the shop and it was closed. Poor timing on our part. The fan in the master double room bathroom could do with upgrading as it doesn't extract fast enough, leading to a lot of condensation. It was reported that there was a leak someone in the downstairs bathroom. The dishwashers needs some new wheels on the bottom tray so that it rolls in and out properly. The view from the cottage over the fishery and the location is lovely. The welcome pack in the kitchen was a great idea and really appreciated, as was the nice smelling hand wash in the bathrooms.

Lovely location, but needs some TLC

Pros: The house was in a beautiful location, we would return for the location. The log burner was really nice. The property was spacious with pretty rooms. The beds were really comfy. It was a lovely little walk down the hillside to the swimming pool. The staff who we had contact with were were friendly and helpful. Cons - overall maintenance was poor: Swimming pool needs a clean - The walls at the far end had green mould on them and the children told us that when they looked underwater, there were loads of hairs in the bottom of the pool. There were several dead flies in the house upon arrival which we hoovered up ourselves. Also, there was no dust bag in the hoover so it leaked dirt. When we arrived the boiler wasn't working - it wouldn't switch on initially, and then wouldn't switch off. I called to report the issue and maintenance came and sorted it the following day. The tumble drier filter was completely clogged, I had to clean it myself as it was a fire risk. It still only tumbled cold so didn't dry anything. I reported this but it wasn't fixed. When the bath wasn't draining, we discovered that the bath plug was utterly full of hair and slime - we took pictures! There were only two small logs provided for the log burner.
