The entire suite has been thoroughly renovated from top to bottom, including new drywall, upgraded sound insulation, fresh paint, new appliances, and elegant quartz kitchen countertops. A new custom live-edge kitchen bar table overlooks the ocean, creating the perfect spot for morning coffee or a relaxed evening drink.

With over 100 feet of exclusive oceanfront and a two-level patio extending over the water, youā€™ll be immersed in the sights and sounds of the sea. Listen to gentle waves below, watch seals, otters, herons, and eagles drift through the bay, andā€”on rare, unforgettable daysā€”spot orcas passing between Maple Bay and Salt Spring Island. Rooms were well designed and very clean - everything available for preparing meals. Good idea to bring groceries as nearest stores are in Crofton or Duncan (not far). Hosts were readily available and respectful of privacy. Very peaceful, otters and ducks in bay fun to watch. Lots of hiking and around the corner from marina with a great pub. Would stay here again.

What a beautiful place to stay and relax.I was nervous about the steps down to the suite especially at night as I have mobility issues but it was ok. The paths and stairs are well lit at night. The large window inside gave us a great view of the water and Salt Spring Island.We had a lovely time and we wouldnā€™t hesitate to return again.

Waterfront tranquility

Our 10 day stay at Seaside Casita was truly exceptional. The open concept south facing unit was private, peaceful and offered commanding views of Maple Bay from every vantage point. The two tier private waterfront deck was our daily hangout after exploring the myriad outdoor activities on offer in the Cowichan Valley. Cycling the extensive and well maintained Cowichan Valley Rail trails and swimming in Lake Cowichan and popular Maple Bay beach (a 10-minute walk from the casita!) were the highlights of our stay. John and Patricia are superb hosts providing helpful recommendations and ensuring our stay was 10/10. Seaside Casita is one of those rare locations that unquestionably merits a return trip.

Beautiful seaside stay

Upon entering the guest suite area through the magical ā€œsecret garden,ā€ you are in a secluded quiet place with the lapping of the ocean audible nearby. A well-appointed kitchen with all kinds of appliances made cooking easy and enjoyable. The availability of kayaks was such a huge bonus; it would have been hard bringing our own on this steep property. Would recommend if you need to relax and the accommodation itself is your destination!

Lovely relaxing stay

We really enjoyed the stay at Maple Bay. The bay and surrounding mountains are beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the water and wildlife over coffee every morning. The hosts were very helpful with local recommendations for hikes, towns to visit, restaurants, and other activities. A peaceful and relaxing escape from the busy outside world! Thanks again!

John, who used to race sailboats and play squash, now enjoys the slower pace of island life, working from home, and sailing on the beautiful west coast of British Columbia.
Both Patricia and John are always up for a bit of fun, physical activity, and spending time with family and friends. If thereā€™s live music nearby, you can bet theyā€™ll be there taking it in and probably on the dance floor. Theyā€™re excited to share their island home's charm with guests, ensuring everyone has a great stay.
