Lakefront Cottage with Private Beach and Dock

Our rustic cottage is on the East-facing shoreline of Big Sandy Pond. Walk out the door and relax on the sandy beach with clear water. On this pond you can swim, tube, canoe, kayak, water-ski, boat, snorkel or sail. The 134-acre lake is also managed as a catch-able trout pond and is annually stocked in the spring and fall with Brook, Brown, and Rainbow trout.

Just 15 minutes from Cape Cod and historic Plymouth and only 45 minutes from Boston and Providence. A myriad of activities await you and your family.

Our charming and rustic cottage is now available for active individuals/families. Please note that access to the beach and water requires using steps, which may not be suitable for everyone. However, if you relish the idea of a bit of exercise and don't mind the steps, this cottage offers a perfect getaway with stunning views and a serene atmosphere.

Freddy Krueger Home

Rachael was great to work with but we were really surprised at this property given the price we paid to stay. The home is quite old and everything, including ourdoors is very uneven and in decay. Starting with 'going to the beach'. There are a lot of really steep stairs and there are no railings except for a short spanse at the bottom, which is very unsteady. My husband and I are seniors and only climbed down there once. It took a lot for us to get back up the stairs. So, if you have issues, stay indoors. Now inside. The owners clearly invested very little into the property. Their "unusual kitchen sink" should be ripped out and replaced. You shouldn't have to go under the sink to find the lever that turns on the hot water. The bathroom is a nightmare. First, the toilet. You can't sit normal because there's a knockout wall where your left knee is hindered by it. The shower is EXTREMELY slippery. So much so that I purchased a rubber mat and that still slipped as well. There are no dressers to put your clothes in. We were supposed to stay for 2 weeks, which would have been tough.The only thing I can advise is that the homeowners think about spending some money to bring the house up to date a bit because it's a nightmare. We had to leave a week early but I'm not sorry. I don't think I could live another week in that house.

Big Sandy Pond stay

Adorable cottage that was the perfect size for just the two of us. Enjoyed sitting around the fire pit every night after our adventures around Cape Cod. Loved having our meals overlooking the water while being protected from the bugs on the screened in porch. Definitely would like to go back again next year.

A relaxing lakeside retreat!

Our family of four had a wonderful and relaxing week at your lakeside retreat! The house was as described and we appreciate how quick and friendly you were in responding to all of our inquires. We had planned to venture out more than we did, but we loved the lakeside experience so much we spent most of our time at the house/lakeside. The private beach area, fire pit, dock, enclosed front porch overlooking the lake and morning sunrises over the lake were our favorites. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Lakefront Cottage

My family of 4 enjoyed our week at the Ponds of Plymouth. The cottage was a great size for 4 people. It was clean and comfortable. The best part is the location. To wake up in the morning to the beautiful lake view was a treat. We loved the private beach area and dock. Lots of time spent paddle boarding and floating in the water made for a relaxing vacation.

Beautiful spot

The view of the pond was absolutely gorgeous. I love the windowed dining area facing the pond… Very tranquil… Very meditative. The owners are exceptionally nice and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a destination getaway.

Fabulous peaceful waterfront location

My boyfriend his son and friend stayed to visit with family and friends that live down the street. The cottage was spotless and very cozy. It had everything we needed. The pond was absolutely beautiful and crystal clear. We would definitely book the place again!

Great retreat

Really enjoyed my stay. Purposefully picked a place with a good three- season porch and that paid off as there were several days of rain on my trip. I didn't mind at all because the porch gave me a place to curl up with some books and enjoy that great view. On the nice days, I got out on the pond on my kayak or went and explored the area (trip to Plymouth and then biking the Shining Sea Bikeway). The house is well appointed with everything you need. Only disappointment was lack of adirondacks and picnic table from pictures. I know the dock/steps had to come out of the water in prep for winter, but the nicer fall days still warrant some time on the beach so it would have been nice to have those available(or know they would also be missing to plan accordingly). But really, that was a minor thing. Overall, everything was wonderful and, most telling of all, I would rent again.

Cozy Cottage on Sandy Pond

We had a wonderful time at this charming cottage on the pond! The sunrise views every morning were picture perfect !! Would recommend this for a great couples get away ! So peaceful and relaxing on the private dock we had !!

Second Year and counting

We like Rachel's home so much we keep coming back. We rented two homes as we had a larger group this time and they all enjoyed their stayed. Very clean and confortable.

Wonderful location and fantastic views. The pond was clear and the perfect temperature.

Great time had by my entire family. We spent the entire week swimming , canoeing, fishing , and jet skiing. The property was clean and well equipped with bonus gas grill, picnic table, and a fire pit by the water. We enjoyed our stay. Can’t wait to do it again next year!

Lovely little escape

Great property in a great location and wonderful little beach area which sets it apart. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely re-visit in the future. The store just a mile away means it's very easy to self cater, the rooms are large and comfortable, all facilities are provided, but again, back to the beach and the water front, if the weather is nice then what a great little spot! Loved it.

The Big Sandy is a Must Visit

My wife and I were slightly skeptical when we booked a week stay at The Big Sandy. We had never done anything like it. We had no reason to be worried. Communication with the owner was timely and seamless. The home was clean, welcoming, and stocked with amenities to get through the week. The location of The Big Sandy is ideal. Within 15 minutes of downtown Plymouth, and a 25 minute drive to Cape Cod’s Southern beaches, the location is nice. If you aren’t wanting to leave, the pond behind the house is perfect for swimming. Overall, my family had a wonderful and memorable experience staying at The Big Sandy. Thank you so much for a great time! We recommend 100%!!!

Adventure in mass

Very nice relaxing place that felt like home. A good location to spring off to the cape, Plymouth or buzzards bay. We fished, biked, shopped, ate lobster and had campfire most nights on beach. While sipping local wine and smoking a Cuban.
