Welcome to Villa Mazuca, a wonderful destination to relax and enjoy the outdoors between Somo and Loredo. Just a 9-minute walk from the spectacular Somo-El Puntal beach, right across from Santander Bay. You can unwind in our garden, read in the shade in our hammock, have family barbecues, or sunbathe on the lounge chairs. Villa Mazuca, a mountain-style house—a typical Cantabrian building—is a 5-minute walk from the coastal town of Somo. THE SPACE
It is a 1,200 m² detached mountain-style house. It features a spacious, fully enclosed garden of about 700 m² full of cozy spots where both adults and children can enjoy themselves. There, you can relax on our lounge chairs or in the hammock, swing on our swing, eat in the garden, or enjoy a barbecue with friends.
LAYOUT OF THE HOUSE
The first floor features a large kitchen, a spacious living room with a fireplace, a small sitting room with a sofa bed, and a bathroom. The porch faces south and is sheltered, making it ideal for enjoying long, leisurely meals and after-dinner conversations.
On the first floor, there are 3 double bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and the other is a separate bathroom. Two of the bedrooms open onto the terrace, which features a lovely veranda where you can read comfortably in our rocking chair or enjoy breakfast at the table provided.
The house can accommodate up to 8 people in 4 bedrooms (the sofa bed on the first floor can sleep two children or one adult, in which case it would sleep 7 or 8 people).
We have toys for the little ones, beach toys, surfboards, and board games for all ages (Parcheesi, chess, “Who’s Who,” etc.), as well as books in Spanish and English.
We’ll also provide beach towels, umbrellas, and everything else you might need for a trip to the beach.
Garage: Accessible from the first floor, it fits two cars, and there’s room for another car on the ramp before you pull in. There’s also a laundry room there with a washer and dryer.
SURFING ENTHUSIASTS
It’s undoubtedly a unique spot for those who love this sport. It’s close to some of the best surfing beaches, which attract surfers from all over the world. Somo Beach has become a go-to spot for lovers of great surfing. The birthplace of surfing and Spain’s first designated surf reserve, Somo was one of the first towns in Spain where authentic surf culture took root. There are several surf schools in the area, one of which is just 400 meters away. Somo Beach stretches over 4 km and extends to 7 km when it joins Loredo Beach; both are monitored by lifeguards.
SERVICES AND COMMON AREAS
It is a very quiet residential area. There’s a large supermarket less than a 5-minute walk away, with a wide variety of nearby restaurants, playgrounds, sports fields, a golf course 3 km away, bike trails, and scuba diving courses in the neighboring town of Pedreña. You can go horseback riding at “Yeguada Castanedo,” an 8-minute drive from the house.
In addition, right near the house, there’s a very interesting culinary scene, ranging from three-Michelin-star restaurants (El Cenador de Amós, 6 km from the house) and one-Michelin-star restaurants like “La Bicicleta” to high-quality, unique dining experiences such as El Pan de Cuco and La Primera Vaca… We’d be delighted to provide you with more information about all of this.
We’re 20 minutes from Santander—either by car or via a beautiful boat ride across Santander Bay that departs every 30 minutes with the company “Las Pedreñeras.” You can also rent canoes or a small motorboat to explore the Cubas River or the bay, or book a tour with “Las Pedreñeras.”
