Sobre esta propriedade
Bij de Hobbyboer - Le Paradis Caché du Limousin - Gite Camino 4 pax
"Le paradis caché du Limousin" offers a vacation rental for 4 people, perfect for fit, active nature lovers. It features one bedroom with a double bed and one bedroom with two single beds.
The cottage is detached and has its own front door. Upon entering, you’ll find yourself in the living room. Straight ahead, you’ll see a small staircase with a low door leading to the bedroom with two single beds. If you walk through the living room, past the fireplace with a sofa and armchair, you’ll see a small staircase leading down.
This staircase takes you to a lower level of the cottage with a large double bed, a closet, and a dining table.
The bathroom and toilet are located elsewhere on the property, as is the kitchen. It’s a bit like being at a campground, since there’s no running water in the cottage. At night, there is an emergency composting toilet in the cottage so you don’t have to go outside during the night. On the side of the building, there is a small terrace between the two fig trees and a grapevine, with a view of the meadow. In the evening, stargaze after a delicious barbecue, take a dip in a natural pond, or—upon request—we’ll set up our swimming pool. Visit the herd of horses or help feed the sheep. Take a family walk through our own forest—there’s plenty to do right here, and plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind.
The Haute-Vienne region is located in the Limousin region, about 4 hours southwest of Paris. Our accommodations are located in a very small village called Chavanat—so small, in fact, that it has only 12 residents. It sits at an elevation of 581 meters. A truly rural French village—not even a bakery around the corner. Across from the gite stands the 1828 granite cross, with a green-painted heart, and just a few meters’ walk away, you’ll find a panoramic view of the valley with the city of Limoges in the distance. (40 min.). Right at the front door, you can join the hiking trail, which features three exceptionally well-preserved shepherds’ huts, two granite crosses, a beautiful hydrological complex, and takes you through a lush beech forest. Chavanat and its surroundings have a rich history. (the Gallo-Roman period of the 2nd or 3rd century). “Nature and Heritage in the Monts d’Ambazac” has mapped out more than 300 km of hiking trails, and if you take the smuggling route, you’ll end up on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route. In addition to hiking, e-biking, mountain biking, fishing, and horseback riding, there are many activities and sights nearby. A car is a must here. Our own “hidden paradise” consists of our house, the bungalow, the gîte, the Pilgrim’s Cottage, the exclusive tent site, 20 hectares of meadows and woods, the vegetable garden with the garden house “Cabane de potager,” our sheep and horses, and… Peace and quiet in and with nature.
If the bakery isn’t right here in our village, where is it then? A 15-minute drive will take you to the bakery, the small supermarket, the doctor’s office, and the pharmacy. A 20-minute drive takes you to Ambazac, where you’ll find the big supermarkets—Lidl and SuperU—as well as the butcher, the best bakery, and the bank. A 40-minute drive takes you to Limoges, where you’ll find all kinds of shops and can enjoy a full day of shopping. Restaurants and bars/cafés are nearby, with an average drive time of 20 minutes. Enjoy a pizza, kebab, or hamburger, or a truly local French (daily) menu featuring 3 or 4 courses. Have lunch in an old castle or at an auberge. Or pick up a picnic basket from us, filled with goodies, and head to a scenic overlook of Mont D’Ambazac or one of the lakes. If you’re more into barbecuing—that’s possible, either here or in Marsac by the lake. You can swim in the lakes just 15 minutes away, or drive a little farther (Lac de Saint-Pardoux or Lac de Vassivière), or ask us to set up the swimming pool. Because that’s possible.
If you enjoy museums, art, and antiquities, there’s plenty to do. Limoges is known for its porcelain. Next to the Limoges Cathedral, which features
