This charming bungalow was built in 1958 and has 2 bedrooms with a door in the middle (a little funky), 1 Bathroom and shared laundry. There is a private backyard . Each bedroom has a queen bed and there is a couch in the living room.
*Please note, to access the master bedroom, you will need to walk through the first bedroom from the living area

Balboa Park is also within walking distance. If you haven’t heard of this gem, it is truly magnificent. The cultural center of San Diego, Balboa Park is home to the San Diego Zoo, acre after acre of gorgeously landscaped gardens, 17 different art, culture, and history museums, several performing arts venues, and a lot more. You can spend an entire week here! And one of the Park’s entrances is just a half-mile from your front door.

Great cottage in a great location

Came from Florida for an annual birthday trip to spend time with family. So many wonderful places to shop and eat. My favorite bookstore was just blocks away! There were restaurants, food trucks, coffee shops and unique bars so close that we didn’t need to drive out of the neighborhood to eat or drink. I’d love to come back next year!

Great place in South park

Stayed here for a few days with my wife and toddler. Fabulous location in the middle of South park, no dedicated parking but always parked on street out front. Host was very nice and accommodating also

Cute, great location!

This was a great value and the location was perfect. We loved staying here and only wish that we hadn’t been so busy so we could enjoy the cottage more. Everything you needed was in the cottage and there were great restaurants all within a few short blocks. We will return to this place for sure!

Great location, lacking in other area

Awesome location, in a great neighborhood within walking distance of coffee, restaurants, shops, and a Target. The house itself was lacking in cleanliness and the wifi was functionally nonexistent. Bill was very responsive when concerns were raised.

Great hidden gem in South Park

The property was conveniently located near restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Local attractions such as Balboa park and Coranado Beach were within driving distance. The house was cozy and the back sitting area was so tranquil. Bill was a great host and communicated within a timely manner.

San Diego family trip

We had a great time! The place was clean and Bill our host lived just next door. Bill was super friendly and easy to communicate with. Love how all the convinces of the location. Walking distance to grocery, restaurants, gas and just 8 minutes from downtown. The place was clean and had everything that we needed. Price was very affordable! Highly recommend this place.

Perfect location/comfortable

The owner is very good at clear communication. Hospitality is excellent. A really nice bottle of wine was waiting for me. Also stocked with coffee. Which is so great even though I ended up going to one of the wonderful coffee shops nearby. Walking distance to great food and shops.

Fun Location!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this South Park Cottage. The neighborhood is very quaint with lots of nearby restaurants, bars and shops. It’s a very walkable area with many charming homes and vistas to see. We loved the backyard area of this cottage-so nice to have a private outdoor area for hanging out in. While this cottage is not modern or completely updated, it definitely met our needs and expectations. I recommend bringing a small extension cord for the bedroom outlet as it’s difficult to reach under the bed. The property manager, Bill, is very accommodating and welcoming.

Friend's Trip

Old, dated and dirty. Cob webs hanging from light fixtures and under edges of cabinets. Spiders in almost every corner. However, when there were no towels, Bill showed up within 10 minutes with armload of towels and when fridge broke down on our third day, he immediately ordered a new one and provided us with a small one until new one was delivered.Patio was amazing, but could also use some elbow grease.The place was cute and quaint, but well below our "clean standards".H cabinets. My husband and I, and our adult daughter and her boyfriend stayed here for 5 nights over Thanksgiving. I chose this house because of the good reviews, and its location, which is just 2 blocks from my son’s apartment. I am leaving an honest review based on our stay. The house was clean, overall. There were some dead bugs on the windowsill in the front bedroom, and one of the blind slats was broken, but not the biggest deal in the world, so we cleaned it up and did the best we could with the broken slat. The toilet seat was loose, and several of the towels had bleach stains, but bathroom was clean enough. Living area and kitchen were clean. The backyard was never really used as the seat cushions were filthy. I attempted to clean them off with paper towels, and decided it just wasn’t worth it. We had issues with the internet the first night, as the password provided with our check-in instructions wasn’t correct, but the owner was very responsive and helpful and got us all logged in. The location of the house is great, but it is very dated and had more of a “college apartment” vibe. The bedrooms are combined in a way where you need to walk through one room to get to the other, which could be awkward, but the beds were comfortable. Overall, the house is old/dated, but was clean and comfortable. The backyard was not quite an oasis, but has great potential to be. The fountain was a lovely touch. I would possibly consider staying again as the location is great.

Booked at Short Notice!

We booked the property at very short notice (24 hours) and it was being unlocked as we arrived. Just as well we didn’t arrive any earlier. The wifi password in the VRBO listing was wrong which wasted time, but once all that was resolved, the property was as advertised. It is situated on a main road - on street parking is required - in a pleasant suburb of San Diego with a supermarket and restaurants close by. The coffee machine and other appliances worked well and I recommend the property.

A great find

We go to San Diego every Christmas and this year was a memorable one. Bill is a wonderful host who lives in the property next door. He was very helpful and pleasant but also respected our privacy. The cottage is quiet and very roomy for two people. The high ceiling in the living room makes the space seem even bigger. The kitchen was very new feeling and had everything we needed. There were plenty of towels available in the bathroom. Even though the entrance to the second bedroom required a couple of steps into the first bedroom, this was not a problem for us. I suppose if it were an issue, there is an outside entrance into the second bedroom, so a person could go a few steps outside to access it. The patio was really inviting. I am sure that in the warmer months this would be a great place to sit and enjoy the nice fountain and the shady garden setting. The street is a business street, but the cottage is set back from it and we had no noise problems. It was also easy to get to the freeways we needed to do our family visits. To sum up, Bill is a responsive and respectful host for his charming cottage.

Great house in a great neighborhood

We enjoyed the convenient location near Balboa Park. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. The back patio is wonderful with many interesting plants and a pretty fountain.

BEST VALUE IN SAN DIEGO

It's hard for me to describe how PERFECT this property was at a price that pretty much can't be beat by any hotel or other rental property... but I'll share some highlights 🙂 First, Bill is an excellent host. He introduced himself upon arrival and followed up the next day to ensure we had everything we needed. I have a local friend that hosts her own rental property, and she was very impressed by the indoor and outdoor space and was FLOORED when I told her the rate. For the location, space, AC, and outdoor area, it definitely gives you the "best bang for your buck." We arrived in the middle of a heatwave and the 2 wall units were sufficient to keep the cottage comfortable. The covered outdoor area was by far my favorite space. I spent every night outside listening to the pond and relaxing after running around all day. Location is perfect. It is a cute, trendy neighborhood where multiple restaurants are within walking distance. There is a Target a block away, and the truck in the parking lot serves excellent ceviche. I wish I could give this 6 stars. My family and I had a wonderful experience in Bill's cottage.

Nice place to stay! Close to a few restaurants and a small Target. Warm during hot temperatures, but wall units work pretty well. 😊 Owner was great, respectful, and convenient with him right next door! 👌 Parking on the street was a gamble, but got a pretty close spot most of the time,, and one time right out front. 😊

Great neighborhood, comfortable space

My friend and In get completely at home. Bill was a responsive and friendly host. The neighborhood was fantastic with great restaurants and shops. Within easy walking distance. An easy commute to the airport and other places we wanted to go. Would definitely recommend.
