Welcome to Pipistrelle Barn, your peaceful escape in the heart of North Devon, nestled within the private Coulscott Estate. Launching Spring 2025, this brand new, fully accessible barn has been thoughtfully designed for guests seeking a luxurious, nature-filled getaway.

Tucked away in tranquil woodland at the highest point of the estate, Pipistrelle Barn is our most secluded retreat – with uninterrupted views down the valley, and just a short stroll to the indoor heated pool, games room, honesty shop, and outdoor play areas.

Inside, you’ll find:

Three stylish bedrooms, including a master suite with en-suite shower room

A spacious open-plan living space with floor-to-ceiling windows and elegant, contemporary décor

A sleek, modern kitchen with stone worktops and high-end appliances

Highly recommend - the perfect place to just escape the hustle

This is our second time staying in Pipistrelle and we love it. The location is perfect for beaches and attractions. It rained for the duration but this didn't stop us from having fun. It's quiet and very private. We had a lovely stay and will be back. Thank you - until next time!!!! :-)

Pipistrelle Barn - the perfect getaway

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful holiday venue in North Devon. Everything was spotless on arrival, and the attention to detail really stood out. Pipistrelle barn was incredibly comfortable and well-equipped, making it feel like a home away from home. The location was ideal—peaceful and scenic, yet close enough to explore the coast and local attractions. My granddaughter loved the animals, swimming pool and well equipped play area.The hosts were friendly and helpful throughout. Excellent value for money and we wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Stolen a piece of our hearts

Having visited Coulscott, the property and the surrounding area have stolen a little piece of our hearts. Pipistrelle is such a wonderful addition. Great for young and old, airy and spacious with wonderful views of the stunning countryside. Simply idyllic. My four year old closed the holiday asking if we could come back next week...which says it all.

Incredible place to really switch off

We were looking for somewhere to stay where we could really switch off and Pipistrelle Barn didn't let us down. The weather was incredible and the barn is tucked away under the trees and very private. Waking up to the birds singing was so lovely. Coulscott is close to beaches and lovely places to visit. We didn't want to leave and will be staying for longer next time! The staff were so friendly too. I would highly recommend a stay there. Thank you and we will be back soon!

Brilliant family stay

We had a fabulous stay at Pipistrelle barn it was everything you need for a family and more! We did arrive in a heatwave and would have enjoyed some air conditioning especially in the bedrooms, we did have enough fans in the rooms but I think this would be worth investing in with the lovely summers we may continue having. The on site facilities were all brilliant and the variety for the children meant they were never stuck for things to do! The barn was immaculate & again the amenities were nothing short of amazing, travelling with young children we didn't need to think about bringing things as the barn had it all there. We enjoyed the hot tub, views to die for and it was lovely and clean & the on site swimming pool was equally well looked after. We would love to visit again in the future!

Fabulous Holiday!! Ticks all the boxes!!

We stayed at Coulscott House in the Old Farm House two years ago and were wowed by the beautiful grounds, easy access to the farm animals, provision of family-friendly activities such as the indoor pool and the spectacular views of the surrounding valley and farmland. This time we returned to stay in their newly converted Pipistrelle Barn, and ontop of all the wonderful surrounding facilities and landscape, we enjoyed an extremely comfortable stay! The kids loved playing in the open living space and on the front decking. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We are booked to return to Coulscott House in July we enjoyed it that much!!

Perfect week by the coast

We had a wonderful time staying in Pippestrelle Barn. The accommodation was perfect, excellent quality and any extra requests we had were met quickly (extra kids bits/ hot tub on late) We loved the communal space as it was perfect for our 2 and 4 year old. We used the indoor pool, soft play and play park every day; and it was great to visit the animals too. Alice and her team were very helpful and allowed us to stay a later for check out to accommodate nap times. I would highlight recommendation the barn and would even consider booking out the entire space for a larger family gathering. Thanks for having us.

Swimming

We have stayed in many places much similar to this and one thing I would suggest is to have a rota for the swimming pool. It’s works really well. We did go down on 2 separate occasions as due to the pool being small (lovely pool, but only big enough for one family at a time) there is not enough room for all the guests.

Fabulous property

We loved our stay at Pipistrelle Barn, which had everything we needed for the week. The owners were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome and comfortable around the estate. The property felt secluded and private from the rest of the estate which was perfect for us, and is perfectly located for exploring all that North Devon has to offer!

A wonderful spot!

We had a fantastic stay in Pipistrelle Barn at Coulscott. The barn itself had the right balance of luxury and comfort, with amazing views and the hot tub was an added bonus. The indoor pool was an added bonus and our kids and dogs loved running along the mown paths on the farm. Jay and Dom were incredibly helpful and made us feel really welcome. We would highly recommend this unspoilt spot. There are loads of things to do nearby for all ages too!
