Cozy country cabin in secluded area on private Lake Peqwaket in Brownfield. Quiet, yet close (20 minutes) to North Conway shopping and skiing.

Includes sandy, shady private beach with shallow sandy bottom for kids and gentle drop to about 15 - 20 feet. Great for kids but still deep enough for adults. Gets warm in late summer.

Wireless is included .

House includes almost all amenities for comfort: indoor an outdoor shower with hot/cold water, microwave, coffee maker, fridge, gas grill, toaster oven, electric cook top, outside picnic table, wall to wall carpeting, queen bed in the master, bunk room with full and twin bunk in the bunk room. . All plates, cutlery, TV with VCR/DVD, fire pit, canoe w/life jackets, parking, boat ramp (Bring your own firewood).

From July 1 to Aug 31 I rent only by the week I do not rent single nights. I can't even pay the cleaners/taxes and make any money on single nights.
Fires are allowed in the fire pit but no fire must burn unattended at any time. Fires must be extinguished when leaving or going to bed.
In the busy season I rent from saturday to saturday, not middle of the week, etc and not starting on sunday

Cozy, quiet, comfortable cabin that was perfect for our family. We absolutely loved that we could bring our dog with us and she enjoyed the stay as well. The small beach is adorable and we will definitely return! Thank You Jay for sharing your place with us!

Brownfield Cottage

We stayed two nights at this comfortable cottage. Location was convenient, the cottage was clean and comfortable. It is near a beautiful pond, Great place for our dog, very dog friendly.

Perfect for quiet get-away

Cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. Jay provided several pages of commentary about the area, what to do and where to eat, which was great as we hadn't been before. Short walk to the private beach was a bonus. Our dog loved it too!

A Relaxing Stay

We found the cabin quite comfortable and Jay, the owner, was very accommodating and helpful. The cabin was clean and we had everything we needed, except our food of course. We would definitely return for another week of R&R in the future.

The cottage is perfect size and comfortable. Its in a perfect area close to things to see and do but far enough away. Area is quiet and the lake can be seen thru the trees. Easy access off a highway not far from Freyburg..

Perfect getaway

Amazing time! Cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed. Barry checked in with us and gave us all the information we could need. The area was nice and neighbors friendly...definitely recommend!!

Quiet area

The place was nice and quiet which is what I was seeking. The pond is clear and a nice beach. Great fir families and my dog loved being in the pond. Host was quite responsive. Id recommend the lil cottage in the woods

In the woods but close to things

My 2 sons and I had a great time. There were hikes close by and restaurants not too far away. The owner was responsive with questions and concerns before and during our stay. One thing I'd note is the listing includes Horseback riding but there wasn't this amenity close by as I expected. Other than that, good place to get away and I'd go back with my kids again.

Wonderful, peaceful week in the Maine woods. First time in this part of Maine. Exactly what we were looking for - simple, rustic, access to a quiet lake, away from all the urban/suburban noise of New Jersey. Easy access for day trips to Conway or Portland or hiking. We went to Boothbay one day (a bit far for a day trip unless you want to waste five hours round trip driving), but we had to scratch the Cabbage Island Clam Bake off our bucket list. Jay provided a thorough write-up on everything from housekeeping to his recommendations on the local attractions and restaurants. We'll definitely be coming back.P.S. Loved using a VHS again. Been a long time.

Rustic is the word!

When the property owner said rustic he was correct! The pictures are deceiving! The cottage is not directly on the pond and there is no gas stove inside. Lots of road noise and gun fire from a neighbor. We appreciated the property manager and all of his help!

Great weekend

At first we were a little confused as to whether we were supposed to be at 33 or 35 because both numbers were on the profile in different places, but then we saw the picture of the property had 33 and got to the right place. We loved the cabin. Jay thought of everything and had so many different amenities for the kitchen and bathroom. Really appreciated the detailed list of all the things to do in the area, like Arethusa Falls. We had a great time hiking, making a fire and roasting marshmallows, grilling up some steak, and then relaxing in the couch and watching some videos (haven't used videos in years!). Overall, I could definitely see us coming back.

Not all it said it was

The cabin was not bad problems with the toilet the whole week. beach front was not part of the property it was about 500ft down the road and we were told we won't supposed to be using it.the listing was inaccurate the grass was almost 2ft high door threshold was broken up.we made the best of it knowing we would not get any refund I was not real happy if I had known the beach was not part of the property I would not have rented it

Bad odor cabin.

My spouse and I was supposed to stay at this property for 3 nights. We had to cut it short because of the cabin being extremely dirty and terrible odor. we left the very next morning because of the cabin being dirty and ordor was unbearable. I asked for a refund for the days we didn't stay and owner refused to give a refund. He claims cabin was clean. But clean to him is just wiping things down. It was a terrible experience. And I'm pretty sure he will be responding to this review with a come back because that's the way he is!

Camp cabin

Jay was very nice, he came over and introduced himself and explained about the neighborhood and a bit about the area. We let him know about an outside light that was out. He had it changed by the time we returned. We were expecting more of a quiet getaway. The neighborhood had a camp feel to it. There were lots of kids of all ages running back and forth. Our leashed dog wanted to run and play with them. There were plenty of books videos and things taking up space in the cabin. Sometimes less is more. There was a welcome drink, chips and salsa there when we arrived and some snacks left around the kitchen. The cleaning person needs to take more care in their duties. The cabin felt like it could have used a spring cleaning. There were cobwebs, sticky pan handles and an old sponge left on the sink.

Writing this for my Mom as she won’t hope she won’t see it. The place could be very nice if it was clean. The smell when we walked in the house was gagging. Dog poop and urine smell. The carpets were all stained with large pee spots every where. There was mouse poop in the dresser draws and in the kitchen cabinets. There was dog fur everywhere you looked. The refrigerator was leaking it had a nasty wet towel in front of it. Under the cushions of the coach and chairs had so much debris and food it was discussing The front deck was falling apart I wonder who will be the unfortunate one to fall through. It truly could be a nice place with some TLC. My Mother reached out to the owner and all he said was sorry you didn’t like it. My mother is older and she would never push the fact but he should at least refund her half her money. I left early because the strongest oder was in the room where me and my two boys stayed. My mom stayed a little longer but also left early. I have photos but don’t want to embarrass the guy.

Listing is Misleading

Things in the listing that were untrue: double futon. Not there. Owner has since removed it from the listing, but it still says the property sleeps six. It does not. Things that were misleading: Stove: no stove, just a 4-burner electric cooktop that trips the circuit breaker if you try to use 2 burners at the same time. There's also a grill, a toaster oven, and a microwave. Secluded: It's in a little development of summer cottages. Nearest neighbor is about 50 feet away. Not secluded. Lakeside: Well, kinda. It's only a few hundred feet from the water, but your view is blocked by other houses. You can walk 2 or 3 minutes to a very nice private lake beach. But you're not gonna enjoy any lake views from the cabin itself. Laundry: If you click on "more amenities," you'll see that the "laundry" listed as an amenity is actually "you can drive to a laundromat." Not mentioned in the listing, but you should know: Fridge was empty but not clean. Fridge also persistently drips water onto the top shelf. We put a bowl there to collect the drops and had to change it daily. Hideous comforter and pillows in the big bedroom seemed to have been soaked in febreze. We had to put it all outside to air out. Once the reek of febreze subsided, the subtle odor of cigarette smoke emerged. Nice! Owner was rude and dismissive when we contacted him, so don't expect any customer service if you have an issue. Nice location, cozy space that would be great if properly cleaned and maintained.

You can’t please everyone. We do the best we can. Been doing this for 30 years. Gotten about ten complaints in that time. Can’t make everything perfect. It’s a cabin in the woods. There’s no maid service. We don’t landscape. It’s in the woods. We try to provide pleasant amenities and surroundings. But you can’t please everyone. Some people are better off staying at a hotel in North Conway.

Private beach was wonderful and dogs loved swimming. Camp was clean and had everything that you would need for your stay. Can’t wait to come back again next year.

Weekend getaway

The location was beautiful with the private pond nearby. We also enjoyed how close it was to multiple nice communities to eat and drink in. Information on the site was thorough and we would consider coming back next time we're in the Maine/New Hampshire area.

33 Lake View Loop

Coco and I had a great time the whole week. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Neighbors where friendly and the entire area was quiet and peaceful. I will definitely stay here again.

I've been renting this place since about 1998 - it's quiet, fun, relaxing with much to do nearby. I am a retired former high tech product manager who writes murder mysteries set in Boston. There is even a set in the cabin! I was a Boston tour guide and still take friends around the town and used much of this inside information in my books. I welcome any feedback!

This cabin was built in 1970 but never really occupied until I purchased it and refurbished it. I bought it because it was near my own house. It is quiet with woods behind and quiet residents. It's called The Schwende Hut after a hot dog stand on the top of Mt Tecumseh where I used to ski with my sister.

Includes everything you need except food, such as linens, towels, plates, screen tent, grille, canoe, paddles, life jackets, outdoor shower as well as indoor shower, radio, dvd/vcr, electric heat, indoor/outdoor showers, fire pit, picnic table and more. The house has wireless and a small library of movies.

It's near the Stony Mountain Arts Center, which is a club on a mountain with various popular musical groups and events. Also close to Cornish, an antiques center. Many interesting things are in the area such at Douglas Mountain, which is an easy climb and you can see all the way to the ocean. There is a canoe rental place nearby for trips down the Saco River (not white water). These trips can take from 4 to 8 hours so plan accordingly - it really is one the most beautiful things you can do.

This cabin is "pet friendly".
