Peaceful, clean and comfortable classic rustic A-Frame in Blue Lake Springs with comfortable furniture. Designed for a romantic couple get-away, small family, or Blue Lake Spring overflow. Enjoy all the summer amenities, including Snowflake Lodge Restaurant, pool, snack bar, tennis courts, playground, ping pong and shuffleboard, the Lodge Lake and Fly-In Lake, and more. (There is Guest Fees for use of Blue Lake Springs Summer Recreation.) Also, there are many area activities including Calaveras Big Trees State Park, hiking, biking, fishing, the caves, Lake Alpine and shopping and dining in Murphy's which is close by. In the winter enjoy Bear Valley Ski Resort just up the highway.

The cabin has everything we needed aha was put together in such a thoughtful way. We really appreciated how hard the hosts went to make us feel comfortable and at home. From the electric mattress warmer to the quality kitchen supplies, it was easy to see that the hosts truly care about providing an exceptional experience. This is a region we frequent and we have already decided that this will be our go to rental when we visit.

Came for a long girls weekend. This was the second time I’ve rented this lovely home. It’s clean, very comfortable and Carol is readily available and helpful if needed. I love staying in BLS so I can enjoy all the amenities in the community. Thanks again for having us!

Quiet and Peaceful

The cabin was just as advertised and in a great location near highway 4, but far enough away from the highway for it to be quiet and tranquil. The deck is great for enjoying coffee in the morning and listening to the sounds of nature.

Home away from home

You feel at home the moment you walk in. You have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The cabin is beautiful and in a peaceful community! Enjoyed our stay immensely!!!

A great spot in Arnold

The cabin had everything one might need. We had a comfortable stay and the proximity to hikes, state parks, and a handful of restaurants was a huge plus. Highly recommended.

Great clean cabin

Our family had a wonderful time at Brown Bear Hideaway. The place was clean, and the gas fireplace kept us warm and cozy during our February visit. There were plenty of board games, coloring and books for my young children too. The kitchen was also well equipped and stocked. Would highly recommend!

Perfect NYE Getaway

This cabin was the perfect place for our family of 4 to stay during the New Year’s week to celebrate that and my daughter’s 5th birthday & kids’ first trip to snow! The place was cozy, perfectly set up with all the essentials, and a wonderful surprise was HOW MANY board games, kids toys and coloring supplies there were! We all really enjoyed having those extra activities to do in the downtime. Carol was super responsive when we had questions, and we had no problems with the place. The area was quiet and we lucked out with beautiful fresh fallen snow about 10 minutes uo from the cabin, so we had 2 full days of snow play. Would definitely visit again’

Definitely will stay again

My family of six had a wonderful time. This property exceeded our expectations. It was so clean, well organized, and thoughtfully situated for guests. As a parent, I appreciated the kids books and games, plastic plates and cups accessible at kids' height, laminent floors in the entryway (we came in winter), and comfortable furniture. I also appreciated the furnishings. The home provided ample seating and writing/drawing surfaces without feeling cluttered. Great location too. We're all looking forward to staying again.

Dream Cabin

We walked in to a fire going in the fireplace and everything felt right about this great little cabin. It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. It just felt like home at every turn. The host has thought, of every little detail to make it a most charming experience. From the easy communication, the well stocked kitchen, to the well light walkways; you will fall in love with this place!

Another great stay

Sweet comfortable clean cabin. We were able to book a last minute weekend up in Arnold. It was warm so we kayaked in Alpine one day and went to Union the other. Took a hike and caught some fish. Also saw enjoyed a swim at Fly In. Thank you for sharing your cabin!

Fantastic cabin

The cabin was better than expected. Very clean and well equipped. The deck was a lovely place to spend our evenings. I love the little details, like the stamped postcards, the welcome gift and so much more. Carol was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Thank you for a great weekend and I hope to come back again.

Cozy clean cabin

We loved our stay! The cabin was very clean and fully stocked with utilities, board games, cleaning supplies and towels/blankets. We really enjoyed how the property was tucked away from the main road which made it quiet and a more enjoyable stay (quiet nights and mornings). We highly recommend staying here!

Birthday Get Away

The place was very nice and clean. We were there for 3 days. Our only issue with this place is that there to many stairs to climb when you are trying to load and unload your belongings. Also the shower felt very slippery when showering. In the future we could not bring our son because this place is not handicap accessible. We made sure we left the place like we found it. As we were told in the rules that the cleaning person would be taking a video to send back to the owner. So I took pictures too.

great place to stay for a long weekend

My husband and I stayed at the Brown Bear Hideaway in July. We spent the daytime sightseeing and would finish our day by enjoying the deck at night. We were lucky enough to see deer in the yard, very peaceful and relaxing. The kitchen is well stocked. Thankfully there were paper plates as there isn't a dishwasher. LOL Looking forward to another Arnold trip when the temperatures are cooler. BTW Thanks Carol for the cute bear hand towel.

A really hot week...

Temps were 15° above normal for July, so the poor little A/C unit couldn't keep up. Used many fans in addition, to try to keep inside below 85°. Low temps inside at 6 AM were 74° with fans & A/C running 24/7. Not the norm, I know. Pool was only available as an additional package of $20/person/day, but many lakes outside of the resort area helped cool us down. Otherwise, the cabin was great! Well-stocked, comfortable, no issues. I'm a senior, so a grab bar in the shower/bath would have felt more secure. The rest of the family camped, coming to the cabin for dinner & showers, which enhanced their experience, too, in such intense heat. The grands loved the games, puzzles, & books. We just picked the wrong week to come.

Peaceful Stay

The brown bear hideaway is tucked away, surrounded by trees, giving you the feeling you are all alone in this beautiful mountain cabin. The view is beautiful and we watched deer feeding early in the morning. This cabin is actually close to everything you may need. The Sequoia Woods Country club restaurant and bar is just down the road along with the Blue Lake Sprjngs pool. The people here are friendly with a small town family atmosphere. It’s close to the 4 highway, yet you don’t hear any traffic. The home is spacious and comfortable with everything you need.

Carol is very nice and responds quickly. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. The location is also great, since it’s close Big Trees park, Bear Valley and stores. We will define come again. Thank you Carol!

I grew up visiting the Sierra to fish and hike and have been awed by it ever since. I introduced the Sierra to my three children by way of fishing, camping, hiking and skiing.
In 2005 I purchased Brown Bear Lodge in Twain Harte and it became a very successful vacation rental.
I retired in 2014 and thought that I wanted a quieter life in a retirement community so selling Brown Bear Lodge was part of that plan - WRONG. I terribly missed the mountains so in 2016 I purchased Brown Bear Hideaway and went to work turning it into a wonderful, comfy home. A year later I decided to move to Arnold and I turned Brown Bear Hideaway into this vacation rental.

I like restoring classic things like furniture, antiques, and homes! I could see the potential in this classic A-frame home the minute I stepped inside. After many hours cleaning, painting and designing, it became a very comfortable, relaxing, cozy home.
