This Hawaiian-style beach house has it all!
Views of the ocean and 3 min walk to the beach. This house is two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious layout with a large eat-in kitchen, a great room, a dining room, a living room with a fireplace. This house is ideal for family get-togethers. This stylish cottage beach house has new appliances. The great room walks out onto a split-level deck. Have dinner on the upper porch with a view of the ocean and lagoon. The lagoon offers wonderful bird watching events every season. The lower deck has a BBQ and a fire pit to enjoy with family and friends.

The location of this house is just one block from the beach. Santa Maria’s(21st ave) is one of the most beautiful beaches in Santa Cruz, surfing, boogie boarding, skimboarding, fishing, and great for long walks. Explore the tide pools to find sea anemones, sea urchins and watch the otters play. This location is close to the fun-filled Santa Cruz. Boardwalk, the famous surfing spot Pleasure Point, and 41st Ave, where you will find various shops and restaurants. Minutes from Capitola Beach and the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, where you will find beach volleyball, kayaks rentals, and great restaurants.

An ideal morning is walking to coffee ( Starbucks ) and then another 4 minutes to the beach to enjoy your coffee while watching the waves crash onto the beach and cliffs below. ( Sunny Cove )

Within an hour's drive, you can see the full beauty of Monterey Bay by taking its scenic drive to Carmel, Seventeen Mile Drive, Pebble Beach Golf Course, and the Monterey Bay aquarium. Between our house and Monteray is Moss Landing, another fantastic area for kayaking and exploring the ocean wildlife.

Amenities include high-speed WiFi for work-from-home guests. A full gourmet kitchen, fireplace, plasma TV with VCR/ DVD player, gas BBQ, outdoor gas fire pit, washer and dryer, linens, down comforters, feather pillows, and towels, both beach and bath towels. A security deposit and cleaning charge are required. This is a self-check in-house.
Sleeps 6 - 8 One queen-size bed, one bunk bed with double-size mattresses, and 2 sofa beds.


Summer months, the house is available from Saturday to Saturday.

Must be 25 years of age to rent our home.

Absolutely NO PETS. Any remnants of pets will be brought to VRBO attention.

These back decks are fabulous, with three nice sitting areas. The large family room overlooks the lower deck, with views of both the bay as well as the lagoon.

We loved the house and the location. Perfect for our little family vacation. Easy walk to the beach and you could see the ocean and beach from home. Great beach chairs that worked as back pack and could hold cold items as well.

Annual Mother’s Day trek to Santa Cruz to see family

Couldn't be happier with our amazing long mother's day weekend at Hale Kai; the amazing location, setting and proximity to the beach, trails and amenities. Walking distance to restaurants... (highly recommend Lago De Como). Hale Kai has a very special vibe to it, quite chill and very inviting, the floor plan worked beautifully for us and our Santa Cruz family who found this to be the spot to hub out of for surfing, biking and beach walks. generous living and gathering spaces both in and outside. The outside decks and viewing veranda was definitely the party favorite and we all enjoyed a few meals al fresca with the view of the bay and sound of the surf. The full moon topped it all off making the entire journey quite magical, Aloha and Mahalo to our hosts.

Would stay over and over

The house was beautiful and in a great location. There were 5 of us staying and the house offered something for everyone. Looking out to the ocean evey morning and evening was the best. We had evrrything we needed plus some. Highly recommend.

Relaxing getaway!

Our family enjoyed the open space within the home. The beds and couches were very comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxing and the beach was a 4 minute walk, which was perfect. We appreciated use of the beach chairs and beach toys.

Perfect House for a Beach Getaway

This house has wonderful indoor/outdoor living spaces. It is comfortable and cute and very well equipped for cooking, game night, beach time and more. The two bathrooms made it great for our trip with our grandsons. The bunkroom with movies was terrific for them. The beach is very close and the views from the deck are terrific. We really enjoyed our time there.

Excellent Santa Cruz vacation!

Beautifully updated home with Hawaiian vibe in a welcoming neighborhood! Spacious kitchen and dining areas, with comfortable family and living rooms. Plenty of room for a relaxing family vacation (4 adults and baby). Especially loved the two-tiered deck with fire pit and the beach within walking distance! We would definitely stay here again! Enjoyed our stay

Nice place. Besides the view and proximity to the beach, the big upside was all the little amenities that are left for guests (board games, serving bowls, tin foil, beach chairs, etc.). It's also a great house for entertaining - plenty of seating on both levels of the deck. This has the feel of a traditional, old school Santa Cruz beach house. For the price, we were very pleased.

Enjoyed our stay at your Santa Cruz beach house.

We went to fish in Santa Cruz. We didn't get as many fish as we had hoped for, but the house was great. We especially enjoyed the fire pit and barbeque. The location was very close to the harbor and they helped as well. We look forward to returning next spring or summer.

California Homecoming!

We really loved this house and it’s location. You can walk to the beach. It’s a short drive to Capitola, Soquel, and other places. We brought my 88 year old Mom out for a reunion with our family, which included grand & great grandchildren. The house had plenty of outdoor room , as well as indoor. We would love to stay there again!

Nice family trip

This is a cute house that is nicely decorated with a beach vibe. It is very close to a great little beach. You can see it from the deck and walk across the street to get to it. We had 4 adults and a toddler and it worked just fine for us. If it was warmer, I would have enjoyed the outside shower after a trip to the beach. Lori is great to work with.

Great house, Great Location

We loved our time at this house! The decor and furnishings were just perfect, homey, and cozy! Having a washer and dryer was a huge bonus! They thought of everything! The view out the back windows, the outside decks were beautiful! The decks could’ve used a little pressure washing but still beautiful nonetheless. Backing out of the driveway onto the main road was somewhat tricky at times but nothing can be done about that. The proximity to the beach and everything else was great! Overall, loved it and would stay here again!

Great Stay

House was great, really reminded us of places we have stayed in Hawaii. It is an older home, but thoughtfully decorated and remodeled kitchens and bathrooms and spotlessly clean. The views from the deck were a highlight. Really short walk to a very nice locals beach. The living space is expansive, though the bedrooms are on the small side. Wasn't an issue for us, being a family of three. The host was responsive to our questions and needs and I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a beach getaway.

We are the Talbot family and live in the East Bay of San Francisco. When we bought our vacation rental, our kids were 9 and 12, and we wanted a place we could all enjoy. We wanted to embrace the Santa Cruz lifestyle with a beach house-style home. I was born and raised in Hawaii, and I wanted a home away from home. So the island decor fits perfectly with the house location to the surf, beach, and the Aloha Grill down the street. Our kids love the bunk beds, and we made one of the rooms into a surfer decor to bring the Santa Cruz surf style to life. The beach, which is a short walk away, was perfect for us. It has boogie boarding, surfing, great sand for sandcastles, and beautiful views. The beach has no public parking, so it is inhabited mainly by locals and doesn't get too crowded. Also, at night, it is an excellent beach for bonfires.

There is nothing like listening to the waves crash on the shore or watching the sunset. We wanted a place we could all enjoy as a family or with friends. I have come to appreciate sharing this house with guests from all over the country and the world. I genuinely enjoy all the wonderful comments we receive about the house. It has become a special place for many others who have stayed here. It is very comfortable and relaxing. We try to have everything you would like on vacation at your fingertips. It is an excellent location for all generations. Not far is the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, which funs for all kids. The beach is excellent for swimming, catching waves, watching sea life and just taking a walk. We hope you come and stay and experience what we have enjoyed.

This house is a perfect place for people who want to spend time at the beach. The beach is only a short block away. It is a beautiful beach and excellent for long walks and all types of beach activities. The beach is not crowded and is only for the locals in the area. The house itself is ideal if you are the type that wants to spend the night at home with BBQ on the outside deck with views of the beach, Plasma T.V., and a gourmet kitchen. Or if you like to go out at night, the house is located 2 miles from Capitola, a beach town loaded with lots of restaurants and shops. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk is located 3 miles and has activities for all generations. The benefit of staying at this house is the renovations, which allow you to be very comfortable and for the location to everything Santa Cruz offers.
