We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin. It was far off the road with ample parking. We brought our pup and was perfect to introduce him to the woods. My wife appreciated how well the cabin was equipped. Everything you need. Bring your own propane, but knew that. Prefect spot for us and will definitely stay again.

Great stay near the lake!

A cute little house secluded in the woods; it feels like you’re stepping into another world! A good use of space and a well-stocked kitchen. My husband and I spent the days at a family home on the lake with the rest of my family but spent the nights here, which worked great. It’s in the middle of the woods, so make sure you keep the lights off in the evening and at night, especially when opening the doors—lots of bugs!

Summer Vacation

The home is tucked away in the woods with peace and quiet yet accessible to all kinds of fun. We enjoyed the private beach, ORV Trails and lots of great fishing. Great location, cute home!

Retreat

Retreat was what we needed and exactly what we found. I hesitate to give such glowing reviews of this gem for fear that the next time I want to visit it will be booked solid! If you need a place to escape, this is the place.

Peaceful and relaxing

Cute cabin nestled in the Woods. Everything you need is there. We even saw a deer while walking the trails! Just a five minute drive to the beach—which we had all to ourselves!! Definitely take a day and make the hour drive to Silver Lake to see the sand dunes. The host was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had! Would definitely stay again!!

Great off-the-grid getaway!

Jordo’s place was great! My wife and I wanted to get away for a few days with our dog and 1 year old and each one of us really enjoyed our time! The cabin feels very safe and secluded. We enjoyed the little walking trails around the property and loved sitting around the fire pit. We did not check out the nearby beach because it was not dog friendly but have read wonderful things about it from other reviews. The place was also very clean and well stocked with essentials for daily living. Would love to stay again in the future!

Great Family Getaway

Our family loved this place nestled back in the woods. It was the perfect size for our group and the perfect balance of relaxation and activity. We took our ranger up for some trail riding and easily accessed a couple of trail heads not too far away. Since Silver Lake wasn't too far of a drive, we decided to take a day trip over there one day to play on the dunes. The owners were more than accommodating and we appreciated how clean and well maintained the cabin was. We would love to come back for a fall trip.

AWESOME!

What a great spot to relax with my family! We spent the weekend and dirt biking the fantastic trails located right by the cabin! We made memeories by the firepit and my children and I walked the property via the trails located on the property. We were able to ride right out of the driveway to the ORV Trails! We will definitely be back!

Quiet, charming; a perfect getaway!

This cabin was so charming and cozy. The pictures don’t do it justice. It has everything you could possibly need! We have a 5yr old, 3yr old and 20mo old and they had a blast playing on the tire swing and exploring the trails. We went hiking off the 76th street Manistee National Forest trail head and it was beautiful! We also went to Bayak beach which was easy to find and were the only ones there for quite some time! It was a clean beach with great water! The host was amazing with communication, such a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely keep this place on our list to revisit.

Fun Cabin in the Woods!

My family really enjoyed our week at the cabin! The deck was comfortable with seating for many, we enjoyed a family fire almost every night right off it! New addition of outside shower was very cool, I took all mine outside! Great to wash the kids off after a day at the beach! Cabin had everything we needed available, and was clean and ready for our stay. The wife and I enjoyed playing some of the games in the cabin once the kids went to bed, and they enjoyed the outdoor toys that were provided. The whole family including our dogs loved the trails all over the property for evening and morning walks. Can't wait to stay again next year!

Pure Michigan Weeklong Getaway for Family

This was a lovely cabin for our family of four, and clearly well-loved by the owners. This Baldwin cabin felt wonderfully secluded. It was very private! On clear nights, the stars were amazing (for this city girl). We loved the large porches in the front and back, the outdoor shower, the tire swing, and the fire pit. Indoors, there were thoughtful touches throughout like comfy pillows, lots of dishes for cooking, games, and plenty of supplies like bug spray. It was hot when we visited, so in-window air conditioners were very appreciated. We swam in Big Star Lake at Bayak Beach and had plenty of sand and swim space to ourselves. The beach is a quick drive from the cabin, or about a 15-25 minute walk along the road. For those handling business, WiFi is great. Cell reception was not available for my carrier, Verizon. Heads up that Bayak Beach does not allow dogs, but you can keep them in "common areas" outside of the beach itself. The village of Pentwater, if you are up for a drive (Mears State Park) has a small section of beach that is dog-friendly.

Could of been much better

Overall the property is quite nice and tucked away in a private drive. With that being said there were several things that dampened our stay. In understand keeping an eye on your property but the amount of outdoor cameras made us feel a bit uneasy. We were really looking forward to the availability of the outdoor shower until we saw the camera pointed in the general region of where the shower was. I did not agree with one being there at all. The second issue was the grill. We went to go use it for dinner and found that the tank was completely empty. On top of that you could tell the grill majorly needed a cleaning, It was gross. We were very disappointed that something as simple as checking the propane tank wasn't done. Even though it had on/off rained at the property we still had hopes of a fire until we saw that the entirety of firewood was open and completely exposed to the elements. Kind of silly that there wasn't any in a bin, storage etc. The coffee machine that was available also has been sitting for some time and needs a descale run through it bad. All the coffee we put through it tasted awful. There were also no ziplock bags or anything similar to put food away. Found that weird as its a normal thing to furnish. Shower water also smelt so strong of sulfur. We understand its hard water but its to a level that almost makes you gag. With all being said we ended up cutting our trip short and heading home. At least we know we won't be coming back to this proptery.

I am sorry it was such a bad experience. The cameras are there for security. They are immediately turned off upon entrance. Why would we point a camera at a shower? That’s just wrong to make that statement. It’s pointed towards the garage. I appreciate the feedback and I agree we need to do a better job of cleaning grill but we concentrate on cleaning the cabin and often it is forgotten. In the listing it specifically states we do not provide propane. I also just descaled the coffee pot. Your statement makes it seems like this is place is a dump? We work so hard to provide a good experience for our guests. I am baffled by your review. It’s these circumstances that make me wonder why we even rent it. You never once called or messaged me? I would have personally came over or I have good people in the area that would drop anything to help.

Peaceful Setting

We had a peaceful, private, and comfortable stay here. It was a welcome change from the crowds and noise on the lakefront. We particularly enjoyed the early morning visit from a raccoon who walked up on the front porch and looked in through the door at us!

Perfect little hideaway in the woods

We spent a few days here - 2 adults and 2 kids (6&8). Big Star Lake is a short 5-minute drive away, and the outdoor shower was an awesome way to keep sand out of the cottage. We felt like we were totally remote, and our kids are at an age where they can play on their own without being constantly hovered over - and this cabin provided us enough close-by forest paths for them to roam around while we sat on the back deck and read. The kitchen was well-stocked with decent knives, utensils, & pots/pans. We were also able to take full advantage of Ludington State Park just 40 minutes away. The owners were very communicative and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you!!

Amazing Private Cabin!

The cabin was amazing! Everything was clean, organized, and it had everything we needed! We can't wait to visit again! Communication with the owner was awesome. Good from afar, but far from good

We were so excited about taking a nice family vacation at this cabin, but it turned out to be a big dud. When we showed up, we quickly learned the cabin was far from modern. The location is really nice, and the cabin has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, that potently is largely unfulfilled. We had to pay an excessive cleaning fee, but the place was dirty with sticky floors, dirty countertops, filthy windows, filthy shower, etc. The fridge was dirty, and it had other people’s half-used stuff left in it. Worse yet, there weren’t even any supplies to clean the place. If you want to get on your knees with a 4 inch mini broom, there is one of those. That was it. We had to go to a store in town to buy a broom, mop, and other cleaning supplies. In addition to being clean, you would expect a modern cabin in the middle of the woods to have window/door screens that actually keep out bugs. Instead, there were holes all over the place. There is a tv in the living room, but it was mostly useless. The Wi-Fi was awful. It didn’t matter if it was raining or if there were clear skies above. We could barely watch a few minutes of a show on the Roku before the thing cut out. The host has also posted a blatantly misleading statement that there is cable at the cabin. When I sent a message that the Wi-Fi was spotty and I couldn’t see how to access the cable, he wrote back saying there is a Roku that has some shows you can find on cable. That is not cable. So, after coming to an unclean, less than modern cabin, you would at least hope to get a good night’s rest. Walking up the steep stairs, you are confronted with a massive stain as you go to the main bedroom to the right. Unlike the pictures posted by the host, there is no tv in the main bedroom. The light for the steep stairs was broken, making it a dangerous hazard for the kids, whose room entryway is also directly at the top of the stairs. The list of disappointments could go on, but I think you get the gist. The only reason I am bumping the place up to 2 stars is that the host refunded two of our three remaining nights when a storm caused a massive power outage. There was neither power nor water, so we could not stay there with our baby and young family. This place was not as advertised, and we were charged for services that had clearly not been done properly. I hadn’t been on vacation for years, and I feel like I just wasted my money.

Derek, Please do not put the blame on us. I cannot help that mother nature brought in the biggest storm Baldwin has seen in over 10 years. I refunded you money for the inconvenience that I had no control over. The "sticky" surfaces is from "Microban" which is a pet and human-friendly chemical that is used for killing bacteria, viruses, etc. It is used in hospitals and the food industry. I personally cleaned the house and treated all surfaces to ensure a clean and virus-free home. We also have tons of cleaning supplies so that is another lie. We haven’t received one bad review in the 4 years we have been doing VRBO….. then you came along with 6 people and you told us 4 people. You left the place a disaster

We love that we are able to ORV and snowmobile right out of our driveway! We have private beach access you can walk, ride your bicycle, ATV/Dirt Bike/Etc. Or just simply relax!
