Sul da França em Dewey Beach

A classic beach house updated without losing its soul. Two short blocks from the beach on New Orleans Street in the heart of Dewey Beach.

The best features, in the owner's opinion, are the screened front porch and the kitchen. You get ocean and bay breezes...and the mosquitoes don't bother you while you're cocktailing. French doors open from the kitchen and dining areas onto the screened porch, thereby bringing the outdoors in. The kitchen is big and modern and fully equipped. Great for entertaining.

This isn’t a rental full of cheap furnishings. The owner's philosophy is to provide a nice place and expect people to take care of it. This means no party groups, especially graduation parties (college or high school). The neighbors will call the cops. Violation of this house rule is ground for immediate eviction with no refund.

Please note: Owner doesn't provide bed sheets or bath towels for this rental. Each bed comes with a clean mattress pad, pillows and bedspread. Owner can provide info on how you can rent them and have them delivered.

Please note: Check-in is 3pm and Check-out is 10am. These times provide sufficient time to clean/turn over the house and ensure everything is ready for guests.

Please note: Off street driveway parking is available for 3-4 car, depending on size. On street parking in Dewey Beach is tough during weekends and is by meter/app or parking pass (can be purchased at Dewey Beach town hall).

Fantastic location, you can not beat walking to all the restaurants and stores.House is very comfortable and clean. Second year that we have stayed and look forward to coming back!

Amazing location

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Porch House. The owner was easy to contact and helpful. The house is located in a fantastic location, a short walk to the beach and restaurants. We had a lovely time!

The only place we stay in Dewey!

Two straight years staying here and will be booking again. Within walking distance of the beach and the best food/drink spot, Dewey Beer Co. Attentive property owner. Clean home. Comfortable beds. GREAT porch. What more could you ask for!

Neat house. Great front porch. Near everything in Dewey

The house is neat. The first floor is open with the exception of one bedroom. That room was great for the grandparents - no stairs to climb. The front porch was the place to congregate. It is concealed from the road by a hedge. Has plenty of seats and tables.

Charming, Convenient, Comfortable

We had a lovely family vacation in this beautiful home. The interior of the house is exactly as pictured- clean, comfortable, brightly lit. There's one bedroom on the first floor, and four bedrooms on the second floor (double bed, and three rooms with twin beds). Note that one of the twin bed rooms is only accessible through another bedroom or through a bathroom. The house is very convenient to a main street, and walkable to restaurants, bars, and 2 blocks from the ocean. It can get a little loud out night with rowdy neighbors, but otherwise it was a perfect stay!

Wonderful gem of a property. Older home, but decorated in charming fashion. Lots of areas to get cozy with family. Best porch in Dewey, hands-down. Shielded almost completely from the street by bushes, can sit outside on porch enjoying the weather and ambience while out of view of people walking by. Only noticed street noise Friday night- party goers walking by, and didn't disturb out slumber. Could walk to the beach or several restaurants right at the end of the street. Both Atlantic and Bay beach areas within walking distance- Atlantic is best, and so close! Rehobeth is about 1-2 miles, could probably walk to boardwalk if wanted to and when my daughter ran she ran down there from the house. Just a few miles from shopping. Can get Dewey T-shirts and the like right at the end of the block! Would definitely get this house again. There are beach chairs there to use, and a few kids sand toys. Some board games and books in the house. Everything you need to have a great vacation is there. Oh- and decent water pressure in the shower.

Charming & Relaxing Property!

We have nine ladies staying over a weekend to celebrate a milestone birthday, and we all thoroughly LOVED this home! Beautifully furnished; very open floor plan on main level; LOVED the screened in porch; well equipped kitchen with LOADS of pots and pans, cutting boards, knives, serving utensils, etc. - you won't need to bring anything. Large driveway easily accommodated four cars. Only wish (1) the bathrooms had hooks or bar for hand towels by the sinks, (2) main level bath medicine cabinet so high some of the shorter ladies (5'3") couldn't even see the top of their head in the mirror (lol) and (3) a full length mirror or two somewhere in the house. Other than that, a wonderfully, relaxing and enjoyable home, which we all plan to try and rent again this fall! :)

The perfect beach house

What can I say? Look no further for the perfect beach house. We had a 4 night stay with family ranging from 8 months old to 90 years old. The house had ample space for 6 adults and 2 kids. Rich was very helpful and kind throughout the stay. He went above and beyond when we left some items behind. The house itself could not be in a better location. The bay is within a stone's throw and the beach is 2 blocks away. There is a convenient store and pizza shop within a 1 minute walk. Not to mention all the bars and restaurant are right around the corner as well. So we had the convenience of the business but the block itself was really serene and quiet ....day and night. There are plenty of beds and the shared living areas made it very easy to spread out and let everyone do their own thing. The porch is darling and was our favorite place to be. Thank you so much for a charming and accomadating home away from home!

Delaware beach vacation

Traffic on rte 1 was terrible on our approach to dewey. Property was very well equipped - a little cluttered. We walked to the beach and enjoyed our stay. Could have been a little cleaner and there was an occasional odor outside..we saw a cat go under the house - not sure if it was from this.

Neat House.

The house was too cool. The front porch is shielded from the street by bushes and trees. It’s great for privacy but even better for getting into vacation mode. It’s large, chairs and tables galore. The blue ceiling is quaint touch. The first floor is wide open, except for the second floor stairway. Again chairs and tables abound. One couple in our group was in their 70’s. This first floor bedroom was better than perfect for them. It was made better by a first floor full bath/shower.

Close to Beach & Bars

Our stay was awesome! The porch was comfortable, huge eating table, kitchen amenities we needed and much more! Spacious laundry room to store our extra stuff as well. We loved the short walk to the beach. Lots of restaurants and bars close and the Jolly Trolly running to Rehobeth boardwalk. You also feel like you’re secluded and peaceful at the house! Four good sized bedrooms upstairs with one downstairs worked well for our girls weekend.

This house is in a great location and the host was very responsive when I sent a question about the off street parking permit. It is spacious and my group enjoyed the screened-in porch. 4 stars due to: floors throughout the house were very dirty; one of the bedrooms upstairs was only accessible through a bathroom or another bedroom

Beautiful house a short walk from the beach

The Porch House was perfect for our short beach vacation. We were two families and the house fitted us perfectly. There is great ambience in this beach house and we loved sitting on the porch during the evenings. The beach was very nice and only a few minutes walk away. Would recommend this house and would love to come again.

Perfect Long Weekend

The property was perfect for my mothers birthday celebration. The house had the perfect layout, with a large screened in porch that opened out to the main living space, so everyone could spread out and choose to be outdoor or in, but all of the space flowed. One of our guests was a professional chef and was impressed with the selection of pots/pans and utensils that were available for cooking. Would love to stay again.

Charming house just a short walk to the beach

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Dewey Beach. The location is great - short walk to stores, ice cream shop (delicious!) and the beach. The house itself is very quaint. It has a lot of charm and character. The front porch was definitely the best part. I would have rated this house a five, but there were a couple of small things that needed attention. The landscaping was totally overgrown. While the hedges out front really helped with privacy, they needed a good pruning. There was a weed out front that was literally taller than me. The tree by the driveway was also overgrown and the branches scraped our cars when pulling in or out. My husband had to break off some of the lowest branches so it wouldn’t scratch. And the backyard area was essentially unusable due to overgrowth. We also had an issue with ants in the kitchen one morning. The property manager quickly brought us traps and spray which took care of the problem. Other than these two issues, the house was great! With just some outside upkeep, this would have been a five rating.

Perfect beach house

We had a perfect week staying at the Porch House! There were 2 families (8 people total), and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was very well equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was within a short walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the beach, and it was just a quick trolley ride into Rehobeth Beach. The owner was helpful and answered all of my questions prior to our stay. Thanks again, and we hope to be back next summer!

Fantastic stay

Our family really enjoyed our stay! Well equipped kitchen, fantastic location, and the screened in porch were the definite highlights of the home. There was plenty of space inside for all of us. It was a lovely time!

Very nice place

We had a nice time at this house. The house was charming and attractive and very close to the beach. However, one can’t sleep well with the windows open, as there are sometimes drunken partiers making their way home in the wee hours. Fortunately we had the option of closing the windows and using AC. All around we had a great stay. Super friendly and responsive hosts.

Perfect Beach House

This beach house is such a gem! So cute on the inside with everything you’ll need and plenty of parking. But the best part is the location. You are so close to everything including the beach. Would love to stay again!!

Great location and lovely house

My family stayed at this property the week of the July 4th holiday. The house is in a great location with easy access to restaurants, convenience store and one block to the beach. The house is well equipped with everything you should need in the kitchen. We loved the huge screened porch which is very private. Ample parking is a plus. This is not a beach rental with a worn down house and old furniture. It is well taken care of and very comfortable! We loved our stay!

Great house on quiet street

We had a great 4 night stay. The house is spacious and roomy. Beautifully decorated. This is someone’s home not a rental with cheap furniture. Loved the extra large screen porch and the privacy of the hedges in front. Great location, walk to everything in Dewey.

Truly a LOVELY HOME

Every pic right on. Very clean. Walk down street to beautiful beach. Amenities are great. 8 well traveled adults with high expectations (my older brothers and sisters) were all comfortable and pleased (thank heavens!!!!). All want to stay here again.
