In the summer of 2022 we were faced with some substantial storm damage. We have been working hard to make Bella Visa better than ever. Bella Vista is now on offer for your vacation enjoyment. We can't wait to welcome you back!

Made available for your best experience on the Chesapeake.
Comfortable living with luxurious appointments.
Main floor has three bedrooms each with its own bath.
Large kitchen with breakfast bar and breakfast table all with water views, granite counters, beer tap, wine cooler and ice maker.
Full dining room with water views
Large living room and river room with expansive water views.
Front parlor and wet bar.
2nd level has two bedrooms with a queen and a single. Single beds in hallway. Full bath.
Large heated swimming pool. (Seasonal)
Riverside deck.
Long dock for fishing and spring line for smaller boat.
Fully fenced yard with electronic gate for privacy. Beautifully landscaped.

Beautiful location! Everything we needed was in the house. Plenty of space to spread out as well as lots of options to have a family dinner together. You can’t beat watching the sunsets from the deck!

Our second stay at Bella Vista and we're already thinking about our third! The property is like a mini-resort, and other than going for groceries or a couple of dinners out in Chesapeake City, we spent all our time watching the boats and the beautiful sunsets, swimming in the pool, and relaxing. Gretchen is a gracious and responsive host, and she has stocked the house with everything you need.

Loved the property. The views are amazing - so much light! Very well stocked and well equipped for a family gathering. We appreciated the multiple en suite rooms and enjoyed the hot tub. Our only issue was the 3 upstairs sleeping areas - they’d be great for kids, but the ceilings were low for our tall adults, and the 3rd area up there with the 2 twin beds is a hallway, not a proper room. The photos are accurate, we just didn’t quite take it in when we booked. In the end we made it work and had a great stay!

We stayed for a week with another family, and there was plenty of room for both of us. The kids played in the pool, and we sat out by the river. Great place to relax and enjoy the water!

Tranquility on the Elk River

We had a wonderful stay at Bella Vista. The house is spacious, beautiful, and comfortable, with so many amenities. The views are absolutely gorgeous! The hosts are kind and helpful, checking in frequently and quick to address any issues.

In love with this property!

This was our third stay in 2020 and this time was for my 40th birthday celebration! Bob and Gretchen are fantastic—thoughtful and responsive! Bella Vista is lovely, perfect for families or for a group of adults. I cannot recommend this place more!

Beautiful property on the water

A group of friends and I stayed at Bella Vista for a long weekend and we all loved our stay! The property is very spacious, clean, and beautiful and Bob and Gretchen really did think of everything when they designed and furnished the house. The pool and hot tub were great and we all enjoyed the dock as well as watching the sunset from the yard. Can't wait to come back!

Outstanding Property

We stayed at this beautiful home over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time with our family. The host was incredible and answered all our questions. Everything we needed was there. The fireplace is amazing. The view absolutely great and we loved the dock to walk out on. We will definitely want to come back here.

Fabulous!

We had a relaxing, much-needed vacation at Bella Vista and couldn't have asked for a better location or house. Gretchen was wonderful keeping us informed of local events, but we were happy to just enjoy the house and pool and the amazing views of the river. The house was very well provisioned and included all the basics (and extra stars for the ice maker!). We are looking forward to staying again next summer.

This is the third time we have stayed at Bella Vista and it continues to be my family's favorite vacation/reunion venue. The house is perfect for us - plenty of space. The deck over looking the Elk River is perfect for the gorgeous sunsets. And the pool meets everyone's needs. But the host -- Gretchen Koch -- is fantastic. She has thought of everything one could need or want. She makes sure the house is in "move in and start living" condition. She is an extraordinary host. We love Bella Vista.

Paradise in Maryland

Location, atmosphere, ambiance and Mother Nature at her finest! Right on the water with your own dock, heated swimming pool and hot tub!! Our large family spent a wonderful 4 day wedding weekend at this beautiful property. The owner is involved and very accommodating. They also provide an onsite property manager named Kenny who is wonderful. We will surely rent again and would give it 4 stars.

Lovely stay at the Bay

This property was perfect for our 8 person, three generation long weekend away. The home was comfortable with a great layout for gathering and for some pivate space. Even though the weather wasn't the best, we enjoyed the heated pool and spa, we watched the eagles and osprey, we cooked and played games. The host was wonderful and very responsive to all of our questions. Gretchen gave us recommendations for dinner and ice cream nearby. We'll definitely keep this in mind for future vacations!

Dec 2024 Stay at Bellavista

This is the second time we have stayed at Bellavista. This time, however, it was the week between Christmas and New Years and we enjoyed staying at Bellavista just as much if not more than our initial July 2024 visit. Gretchen Koch is a phenomenal host to work with. She makes sure everything is perfect. How she managed to arrange for the stunning sunsets at Bellavista is beyond me. We look forward to staying at Bellavista again this summer.

Definitely a Repeat

If I could give this property 10 stars it would not be enough. Gretchen is a super host. You will only need to bring your food. The kitchen is well equipped down to the seasoning. The hot tub was awesome Fantastic views. Definitely will do this again.

Better than Ever

After a hiatus to repair storm damage, Bella Vista is back & better than ever. Stellar attention to detail, superb location & fabulous amenities. We love staying here and can’t wait to come back. We had perfect weather and enjoyed the pool & spa daily! The view is stunning. Gretchen & Bob are so nice and welcoming. Nothing could have been better. We are so grateful to have found this house and to enjoy our vacation there. Thanks for everything super hosts!

Perfect for our Spring Break getaway!

What a beautiful, spacious home. Everything was extremely clean and comfortable! Everything you need is there. Gretchen was very responsive and addressed any questions or issues promptly! She was very accommodating with our group of family and friends. The kids loved swimming, and we all loved relaxing in the hot tub. We also had a great time fishing off the dock and even caught some fish. Thanks for hosting us, Gretchen and Bob! We can't wait to visit again!

River View House

The view was spectacular. Looking out at the river was very relaxing. Using the kayak was enjoyable. Once the heater was turned on all of us were able to utilize it. The house had all of the supplies we could need. Which was a huge convenience. The owner was easily accessible. Would definitely recommend this beautiful home.

Fantastic house...everything you could want and more

Bella Vista House was a great place to stay! I loved looking out and seeing the river everyday, from so many parts of the house. My family and I enjoyed the hot tub and pool, especially at night gazing at the stars. The deck that overlooks the river was AMAZING with a gas fire pit..very peaceful. The grounds were beautifully maintained and private. The house is very roomy, but still cozy. The views from the house as well as the dock are quite amazing. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. It was a perfect extended weekend!

Review of Bella Vista

My family just finished a week in this one of a kind home on the Elk River. The property was everything and more than we expected. The pool kept the little ones busy and the sunsets on the deck kept the grownups happy. We had plenty of room to spread out in this fully equipped gorgeous home. Gretchen Koch was great to work with. There should be a category higher than Premier Host for Gretchen. We hope to return next summer!

Family Getaway

My family and I recently stayed at this beautiful home. It was exactly what I was looking for...a beautiful, large, comfortable home on the water where my husband and I could spend time with our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. It was so nice to disconnect from our busy home lives (& devices) and embrace being together. We spent the majority of our time swimming in the beautiful pool, fishing from the dock, relaxing in the hot tub and watching the boats go by. The sunsets were some of the most beautiful we had ever seen. Chesapeake City was a short drive away and we enjoyed visiting some of the quaint shops and had some delicious meals. The owner, Gretchen, is a lovely person who provided so much information before we even arrived. She met us when we arrived and showed us around. I thought that was so nice, had never had owner/host do that. It was such a personal touch. Cannot wait till we can return to visit this peace of paradise on the Elk River. Thank you Gretchen 💗

Beautiful home

Beautiful clean property, had a wonderful week. A few maintenance problems, but owners were quick to respond to. The listing advertises “bring your boat,” However, the homeowners notified us a day or so before our vacation that the boat or trailer were not allowed on their property. The marinas the owner recommended were private and we couldn’t use them. Checking in with this last minute information put a wrench in our day. One of the neighbors let us park the trailer on his property, which was very nice of him. We really lucked out, but given this information earlier would have helped us plan better. Other than that the home and pool is beautiful, plenty of room, well stocked kitchen.
