Birdsong Cottage is set back behind the 114 W. West St main house and accessed through a side garden gate and path.

The cottage is ideally situated in the heart of historic Southport - a short walking distance to all of the quaint antique stores, chic boutiques, and laid-back riverfront seafood restaurants and bars.

The Oak Island Beaches are 10 minutes away. Bald Head Island and the beaches of Pleasure Island: Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Fort Fisher are just a 20 minute ferry ride from Southport. The ferry is 6 minutes from the cottage.

Perfect location to walk to everything. Such a lovely and comfortable home. The hosts go above and beyond with their welcome and what they provide. Little things like coffee, toiletries and plenty of towels to big things like a bottle of wine and small charcuterie. They are fantastic. We will be back and highly recommend them to anyone planning to visit Southport

I had a wonderful stay at the Bird Song Bungalow! The owner, Kelly, was incredibly sweet—she even stood in the rain waiting for me to arrive so I wouldn’t miss the property. The location is perfect: close to everything in Southport and easily walkable. I felt very safe, and the street is quiet and adorable.The bungalow itself was spotless, cozy, and beautifully decorated. I was welcomed with a thoughtful basket of wine, crackers, and cheese, which was such a lovely touch. The bed was super comfortable, and Kelly truly thought of everything when it comes to amenities—she had all the essentials and more.I’m already looking forward to staying again soon. Don’t miss this perfect location and amazing lodging!

Love this beautiful cottage. The moment we walked in I fell in love with it. So quiet and peaceful. It was close to everything if only the weather has been better although it took nothing away from our stay. I would rate it a 10. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

Kelly and Robert are amazing! Kelly answered all of our questions immediately and she was gracious enough to let us check in a day early at a last minute’s notice. The cottage was so cute and sweet. My husband and I felt at home and were very cozy. There was a beautiful welcome basket that included local cheeses and a bottle of wine. They thought of everything! It was very clean and located in a perfect area that is close to the water front and town. Thank you making our stay in Southport so memorable! The pictures below are a 10 minute walk from the cottage.

A charming, comfortable cottage that is in walking distance of all the interesting shops, parks, restaurants and the "must see" Maritime Museum. A short drive to the Oak Island lighthouse, Carolina Crab Brewery, and NC Ferry -- places we visited.

We loved the cottage; it was perfect for us. No steps to climb, clean and comfortable. The location of the cottage was perfect. We walked everywhere! Only one complaint- mosquitoes and bugs which we were warned about by owner.

We truly enjoyed our 2 day stay at Birdsong Cottage in Southport NC. Check-in was easy and we had a designated off street parking spot. The house was close to everything including shopping, dining, and art galleries. It was a quick walk to the water where you could sit on benches or swings and enjoy the view. Kelly had a bottle of wine and a wonderful little charcuterie box as a welcoming gift and was on site in case we needed anything. Casual dining at Provisions was fun, but our special anniversary dinner at Edgewater was outstanding! We enjoyed.every bite and all the restaurants were an easy walk. We would definitely return here for another visit!

This was the perfect getaway!! It was right in town. Felt very private and Kelly was the perfect host. I loved the garden and the interior of the house. I also loved the full kitchen. 10/10 would stay here again

Such a lovely cottage just right for my husband and I for a few night’s stay. Right near the main road in Southport in walking distance to everything. Cottage was clean and comfortable and wonderfully decorated. Kelly is lovely and treated us to a welcome basket. Definitely a 5 star Vrbo !

Great Stay

We came for our 10th anniversary, my wife and I.Kelly was great to work with. Great communication, great introduction on our first day, just a great overall host.Not only did we enjoy our stay, but we can't wait till we get to make the trip back. Hopefully sooner than later.

Heart of Southport

This property was the perfect place to stay for a few nights in Southport! Kelly met us at the gate and was lovely! We walked to all the shops, to fish on the piers, and to eat at restaurants. The cottage was very clean and updated. It’s the perfect place to stay when visiting the area! You won’t regret it!

Kelly and Robert chose Southport, NC as their new home after living and working together in the charter yacht vacation industry in the US Virgin Islands for 20 plus years.  Robert was born and raised in East Lansing, Michigan before moving to Denver, CO and eventually the US Virgin Islands. Kelly grew up in Bernardsville, NJ, then lived in Philadelphia for 10 years before making the USVI her home. The two were married (first marriages for both) in Southport in 2016. 

Captain Robert holds a USCG 100 ton license and is Padi Dive Master. If you would like to go boating for a day...talk to Robert! He works currently as a relief captain on the Bald Head Island Ferry, so he can offer you recommendations about a BHI excursion as well.

Kelly is a Licensed Real Estate Broker with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage in Southport. She also runs a successful real estate investment company, buying and rehabbing historic properties around Southport. If you are interested in looking at any property while you are in the area, Kelly will be happy to show you around!
