Less than one hour and a half far from Paris and from the castles of the Loire Valley, this beautiful and grand estate offers several prestigious places to rent : The main castle, the cottage and the loft in the outbuildings

The main castle – 15 sleeps
Every detail of the castle, masterpiece of elegance and refinement, will take you back to the romantic era of the 18th century’s aristocracy.
The castle offers 11 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms which can accommodate up to 15 people maximum (due to security fire rules) and several living rooms ( dining rooms, large lounge, office).
The rooms in the castle, elegantly decorated, have kept their original furniture, panelling and wooden floors.
The castle is located in the middle of a huge park with hundred-year-old trees, a heated swimming pool and a vegetable garden nestled in a nice French-style garden. Everything is meant for leisure and rest.

The cottage in the outbuildings – 12 sleeps
Within the outbuildings, a former 19th century’s artist’s studio has been converted into a cosy cottage.
The cottage is composed at the ground floor by a large cozy and refined living room with central fireplace and a full equiped kitchen. Upstairs, you will enjoy the 3 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which can accommodate up to 12 people.
A magnificent 19th century mural fresco painted by the artist Albin Haudos de Possesse, an ancestor of the owner in one of the rooms of the lodging, adds to the charm of the authentic and warm place.

The Loft in the outbuildings – 8 sleeps
The loft located in the outbuildings include a double bedroom, a bathroom and a large 70m2 living room with kitchen corner that can be converted into a dormitory for 6 people opening onto a large terrace.

On-site catering service

We propose on site if you wish a catering service on request cooked by our chef based on local produce and vegetable garden.
Breakfast, brunch, buffet or served dinner, the team of the castle will be happy to organize your meals according to your tastes.
We propose also a selected wines, champagne and local beers in our self service cellar that you can choose and taste during your stay (from 5€ to 40€/bottle) and vegetables basket from our organic garden that you can enjoy during your stay (20€/basket).


Many activities on site and in the aera.

Whether you want to go biking, fishing, walking in the forest, playing table tennis, badminton or trampolining and swimming in the pool, you have plenty of choice to occupy the whole family. Children can also enjoy pony riding with their parents in the grounds. Also, you can take advantage of our massage service to increase your feeling of well being and make your stay a truly memorable one.

Looking for special experiences ? Lots of activities are possible on site and in the aera : Wine tasting, cooking classes, hot air ballooning, horse riding, ball trap, karting, quad, escape game, electric boat trip, cultural visits…

Moreover Bouthonvilliers is ideally situated to explore the rich heritage of the region: Norman churches in the villages of Dangeau and Brou, Chartres cathedral and its magnificent stained glass windows (30 km away), the castles of the Loire Valley including Chateaudun’s castle (15km) and the most famous ones ( Chambord, Chenonceau, Blois, Cheverny) are less than 1h30 drive as well as the royal Versailles castle.
The peaceful countryside around the castle is the perfect place for walking, biking or riding.
Alternatively, you can also discover the beauties of the region on the river (electric boat rental in Bonneval, kanoe kayak).

Fabulous Chateau for our Women's Retreat!

We had an amazing time at the Chateau! Edouard and Alexia are amazing hosts, deeply kind and attentive, and their home was absolutely gorgeous! It was an honor to learn the history of the main house and the whole property, from one of the family members who grew up there! Plus everything was a stunning backdrop to our retreat. Can't wait to go back!

Magical Getaway at Château de Bouthonvilliers!

Our stay at Château de Bouthonvilliers was an absolute dream. We had a small intimate wedding celebration week with several close friends and it couldn’t have been more magical. The hosts were exceptionally wonderful in making us feel welcome and instantly at home at their stunning property. We enjoyed our stay so much, making use of the grounds and amenities with all of our guests. We can’t thank the hosts enough for being responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Everything was perfect, and we cannot recommend Château de Bouthonvilliers enough!

Magical stay at a magical Chateau

I recommend this place 100% - everything about it is wonderful. I booked the Chateau for a week with 32 family friends which included 14 children aged between 3 and 17. We had a fabulous week with the kids playing in the pool, horse riding, running, cycling, singing and exploring. The children and dads left for the weekend and more girlfriends arrived for a final weekend. Alexia and Edouard were so attentive and helpful. It is a place to make the best memories.

Nothing Short of Magical

What an incredible week long experience we have had at the Chateau Bouthonvilliers!! We chose the location as a backdrop for our wedding of 28 guests, and it was the most beautiful and perfect experience we could have ever dreamed of having. Even the weather was pristine, which resulted in daily pool visits in the incredible walled in garden space. The chateau is authentic and rustic in the very best way. The hosts, Alexia and Edouard, were so gracious and polite and patient with all of our questions and requests. I could not be more pleased with our experience. The chateau is placed in the countryside and very private. We had all of our daily meals scheduled with the wonderful catering and support staff, Virginnie and Pauline, and the food was absolutely fresh and delicious. The wine cellar is really unique, being below the small chapel, and the selection of wine and beer was perfection. We will never forget our time at the Chateau, and hope to visit in future years. I cannot express enough how thankful we are for such a wonderful time in the most perfect setting. Everyone was able to relax and spend their time without any stress or worries. Truly the most unique and enjoyable time we have ever had in our lives. Thank you Alexia and Edouard for the most perfect and incredible vacation of our dreams. Wedding at Chateau de Bouthonvilliers, Dangeau France

We were a group of 34 friends and family members who gathered for a week-long celebration of our daughter's wedding. We chose the Chateau de Bouthonvilliers for many reasons. As Americans, it is rare for us to spend time in a home that is centuries old and that has survived the uncertainties and fluctuations of history. The rooms are filled with souvenirs of the past - lovely paintings and heirloom furnishings as well as family photos.The grounds of the Chateau are beautiful and the vistas from every open window bring a sense of peace and serenity - from the horses neighing in the nearby fields to the geese and peacocks roaming the lawns to the wood pigeons cooing in the trees. We chose to have our dinners catered - and we dined each night outside as the sun set and the stars emerged in the night sky. We had music and dancing. Our guests participated in various activities - cooking classes in the Chateau kitchen, horseback riding through the surrounding fields, relaxing in the pool, exploring the vegetable and flower gardens, the Wednesday open market in Brou. Our host whose family has owned the property for over 200 years toured the house and grounds with us and shared interesting stories and facts from the Chateau's past. If you are looking for a vacation setting that evokes a sense of history and the charm of life in the country, the Chateau is well worth exploring. For our daughter and her fiance, it offered the perfect ambience for their informal country wedding!

Could have been great.

Our family stayed at the chateau & cottage this July. We booked 7 nights but left a day early. It felt like a magical opportunity to stay in a chateau in the French countryside. The property and house are substantial. Plenty of space and lots to do outside. However there are maintenance issues that need addressing. The doors did not lock and others live on the property and had access to the home. On one occasion we saw two people who lived on property go into our kitchen twice, while our personal belongings were out, without notice or acknowledgement. The door in the kitchen opens directly into an adjacent apartment and doesn't lock, which we weren't warned about and accidentally opened the door to someone else's home. The main oven and clothes dryer didn't work throughout our stay and the only freezers are in the basement, although one was full of food. The floors were quite dirty and seemingly hadn't been cleaned in some time. We informed the hosts twice about a major bug issue. They treated the spaces where the bugs were the biggest issue, which caused the bugs to either disperse throughout the rest of the house or those that died fell into our beds, luggage and any open vessel nearby, which was a very unpleasant way to return from a long day. There was an awful smell from the downstairs bath that permeated the whole home and was impossible to mask. The hosts "treated" the smell, but that caused it to get much worse, which ultimately caused our early departure.

Absolutely Beautiful

Our stay at the chateau was magical. Edoaurd and Alexia are such wonderful hosts, and the chateau and grounds are stunning. We had multiple catered meals, horse rides, and pony rides (my daughter loved it!) and everything was excellent. Because the chateau is Edouard’s family home, it feels extra warm and welcoming - the paintings of his family down through the generations that are hung throughout the house are wonderful. I was there with my husband and two children (3 y/o and 1 y/o), mother and father in-law, and 4 friends, and we had the best time there. We played some croquet on the lawn, went for pretty walks around the grounds, enjoyed the kids play area (not sure I recall seeing it pictured but it was such a hit with the kids!) and generally just enjoyed the place. I recalled reading a review that described it as “life giving” and I think that’s probably the best summary. The only negative was the very end, when the cleaners came before check out to start cleaning for the next guests, and they kept blocking the door when we were trying to get our bags into the taxi and they didn’t speak English so couldn’t understand me when I asked them to please just clean a different area for a few minutes while we left. I suspect it was a communication error with Edouard as he apparently asked my father in law if the cleaners could come early and he was fine with it since he was leaving at 9am, but I felt a bit frustrated by that as I was the host of the stay and I was not leaving until 10am and things are always a bit hectic with two little kids when packing and getting ready for a flight, so that plus trying to weave around cleaners and all the rest just added to it in a frustrating way. I wish they had coordinated the check-out and cleaning changes with me as the host, but I think it was just communication mistake as Alexia and Edoaurd are so nice and they had built a rapport with my friends and family as well and felt comfortable coordinating things directly with them, but it just didn’t work well that time. Anyhow, all the rest was absolutely fantastic and I can’t speak highly enough of this chateau. I highly recommend it and hope we can visit them again one day! The whole week was like a dream and I hope we are lucky enough to get to experience it again one day.

One word: perfect

The house is absolutely amazing. Very traditional, a little rustic, a ton of charm. Quiet dinners, party all night and a relaxing day at the pool or on a horseback. Everything is possible and Edouard and Alexia help you with everything you could wish for. A perfect host for a perfect place. We were 20 people celebrating my birthday for one week and we fell in love with the place a little more each day. All in our 30s and experienced in renting big houses - this was the one with the most charm so far.

Amazing Property with Amazing Hosts

If I can have my choice I prefer to stay at hotels because of the consistency of the experience. This stay might bring me back to house rentals more often. Edouard and his wife are very kind and helpful. They made the entire process of arriving to leaving enjoyable. I hope to bring my extended family back.

Nous avons passé un magnifique week-end à Dangeau! Tous mes invités ont été ravis de leur séjour. Les enfants ont adoré la balade à poney (option) & la piscine et les adultes l’atmosphère élégante & chaleureuse d’un château familial. Absolutely incredible

We just left Chateau de Bouthonvillier, and all I can say is WOW. We hosted a photography event here, and we couldn't have been more impressed. The property is amazing. If you like old, historic buildings with lots of charm and beautiful antiques, this is the place for you. Every room was gorgeous and staying here made us feel like we had stepped back in time (but with all the comforts of the modern day!). Eduoard and Alexia were incredible hosts as well. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and tended to our every need. We also had all our meals catered through the chateau, and they were delicious. I really can't say enough good things about our stay. We would highly recommend Chateau de Bouthonvilliers to anyone!

Lazy week for two families with 6 young children

We were two families with a total of 6 children from 1 to 9 years old. Despite the weather being slightly cooler than normal for the time of year, we had a wonderful stay relaxing in the amazing house and gardens, and by the pool. We only felt the need for a couple of half-day trips to nearby towns. Edouard and Alexia were very welcoming and friendly. In short - definitely recommended!

Pure magic

Our week at Château de Bouthonvilliers was the most magical, memorable, life-giving experience of my life. After the pandemic cancelled my partner's and my original wedding plans, we pivoted and decided to have a week-long wedding celebration, with about 30 guests, the next year at Château de Bouthonvilliers. It was truly one of the best decisions we have made together! The chateau and surrounding grounds are otherworldly beautiful – soaking in the beauty of every corner of the estate, being enveloped by centuries of history of Edouard's family – literally brought tears to my eyes countless times over the week. We had an absolute blast with our friends and family. Although we did a few day trips to nearby towns Chartes and Châteaudun, I am convinced you could never leave the property and remain entertained forever – between biking, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, walking, there are countless activities to keep busy. Edouard and Alexia are truly the most gracious and accommodating hosts that you could ever ask for. We opted for the catered dinners each night, which were above and beyond in terms of service and deliciousness. We had so much fun hanging out with Edouard and learning stories about the chateau's history. We cannot thank Edouard enough for opening up his ancestral home to us – it was such a generous gift to be married in a place with such history. We felt the love of centuries of marriages past as we said our vows. Our friends and family all agree we need to make it back to Château de Bouthonvilliers someday. Thank you so much Edouard and Alexia!

Super séjour dans ce lieu magnifique et un accueil très chaleureux

Nous avons passé un moment magique dans ce superbe château rempli d’histoire , son sublime parc avec ses arbres magnifiques. Alexia et Edouard nous ont accueilli merveilleusement bien et nous ont fait sentir comme chez nous dans leur splendide château. Petits et grands ont passé un séjour très confortable avec de l’espace et du confort pour tous. Tout est là à disposition pour passer un merveilleux séjour.....Nous ne voulions plus repartir et comptons bien revenir.

Fairytail wedding

We had the most amazing time at Chateau de Bouthonvilliers! Edouard and Alexia feel like family. They always answered all my emails quickly and were incredibly kind with helping me plan my dream wedding all the way from Toronto Canada. The chateau has so much original charm. Yes there are some areas in the house that look her age but it doesn't take away from her beauty. Edouard will offer you or your group a tour of the property, do this near the start of your stay. The rest of the week you will appreciate your surroundings so much more! Edouard is working his way through upgrading the chateau with still keeping the original workings of the home. The catering company is amazing! Trying to find the same meal for 22 guest to eat I thought would be very hard but with food this good everyone enjoyed every meal. We had 3 dinners catered and each was better than the one before. We used the chateau and the Gite for our 22 guest and it was very spacious, every amenities that you could want or need are already there for you. If you do forget something there is a fantastic supermarket only 10 min drive away in Brou. There are so many incredible day excursions to do with in only a couple hour drive! If you like horses Alexia will saddle up a horse for you. My friend and I went on a beautiful relaxing tour of the grounds via horse back. It was just a really nice afternoon stroll. I cannot say enough about this family or the venue. We were lucky enough to stay for 8 days and I will feel homesick for life! I truly hope that my husband and I will be able to go back again. We said for 10 year anniversary we will come back with our group. I am counting down the days! I cannot forget to shout out Nuts. Edouard's chocolate lab is the sweetest girl out there. So well behaved and just wants to spend time with friends. Hope everyone gets to enjoy some time at this hidden treasure!! Amanda & Alex Boileau. 9.9.19

Fantastic holiday with family

We all had the most wonderful time at the chateau because of Eduard and his family. They made us feel right at home whether swimming, playing games or riding horses. Every morning he delivered fresh eggs for breakfast and every night we had an incredible french meal prepared by his chef. We never had to go to a restaurant so we could relax, enjoy the family and living at the chateau with its wonderful history. I cannot say enough how hospitable he and his family are and we all wish him the best at his fabulous home. Ruth Kettaneh

A wonderful paradise!

We spent an amazing week at this wonderful castle together with extended family and friends. The castle is very well preserved with lots of historical remnants. The kitchen is modern with a giant gas oven, nespresso-machine, microvave oven etc. There’s lots of porcelain, glasses and equipment to make your own food. We did some nice cooking and in addition we had some served brunches and dinner which were very good indeed. Served by the loveliest ladies. The hosts, Alexia and Edouard are really very nice and helpful with just everything. We really enjoyed the tours where Edouard guided us around the domains, teaching us relevant history. One day we took a ride on the bikes provided, beautiful landscapes everywhere. Another day we took a trip to Paris and we also made some trips to the charming cities of Brou, Chateaudun, Bonvalle and Dangeau. We really recommend this paradise!
