The home was very clean! At first the extra blankets in the bedroom smelled of mildew (impossible to avoid in that climate) but the host quickly came and washed and returned them. The house is so close to the ocean you can hear the waves all the time, and see the beach from the balcony. Yes there is some road noise but that's inescapable, and the neighbor with barking dogs doesn't seem to let them out much; they were no bother at all. We were happy we had a rental car for the 6 minute drive to everything in Puerto Viejo. The pool is tiny but good to dunk yourself in to cool off. We enjoyed visits from Blanquita (the friendly resident cat) and gave her chicken to eat.

Puerto Viejo is a beautiful, small town still packed with community and culture. We loved our stay- the property was beautiful, the proximity to the beach is what we wanted and the town is full of wonderful people!

The pool was very refreshing. The house was comfortable and we really enjoyed the outdoor living space except for the fumes from traffic on the road. Easy access to the beach. Nearby restaurants and an excellent small grocery were quite handy. Towns in the area offer lots of restaurants and shopping. The pura vida vibe was everywhere, people were friendly and we always felt safe.

Convenient and relaxing

Comfortable rooms, nice view of the ocean from the upper deck, lovely relaxing garden area and not far from town and other sites of interest.

Excellent choise

We spent 6 nights in this great house almost on the beach. We especially liked the fully equipped kitchen and the terrific balcomy/ outside room.

Casa Luna

Casa Luna was a great place to experience the cool, calm vibe of the Caribbean. The host Rise Caribe was top notch and very friendly. From providing information to checking in to see if we needed anything, we felt that we were priority. Definitely would stay here again or another property managed by Rise Caribe.

Lovely Beach Housr

We enjoyed our stay in this house located right across the street from the beach. It was conveniently located near restaurants and a small market. The main kitchen/living room area was quite hot, but the bedrooms had air conditioning and the outside deck had a nice breeze. The dipping pool was perfect!

Amazing Stay steps away from the Beach

This was a Fantastic Place. The home was beautifully decorated, clean, and steps away from the water. At night you can hear the water waves and feel the breeze. The Host of the home stayed in contact for any needs we may have. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a Great experience.

Exploring the Limon Province

Great house. Excellent location. We had a rental car, but you would not need one. You can walk to town (20 min on the beach) or take a cab or tuk tuk or bus. Lot's of fun stuff to see. We spent 2 weeks. We were never bored.

Lovely

The home is close enough to hear the waves rolling in. Great walks down the beach. The AC in the bedrooms was greatly appreciated . Everything supplied for a great vacation . We would definitely stay again. Nina was great in arranging our car rental and other outings, and very quick to respond if we needed anything.

Pura Vida Perfect!

We had a wonderful time at Casa Luna Beach House! The location is perfect for the travelers that want to be away from the noise of the city but close enough for easy access. Nina was friendly and helpful. The house is just as described, and simply beautiful! We loved floating in the plunge pool after activities around Puerto Viejo every day. I already miss hearing the ocean lull me to sleep every night. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Idyllic stay

The property and the location exceeded our expectations. It's not easy to impress teenagers, and all four us were in awe of the spaciousness and above par comfort of Casa Luna. To have the beautiful black sand beach and thrilling waves just steps away, as well as such delicious and affordable food a short distance away, left us wanting/needing nothing else. This property exceeded our budget in comparison with the rest of our stay in CR, but was well worth it! Special thanks to Nina at Gecko Trails for handling the logistics of transportation from the airport and car rental !

Oasis by the beach

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights and absolutely loved our experience here! We loved that there were 2 bedrooms upstairs in the main area and a huge bedroom (almost an in-law unit) downstairs due to the fact that we can all be together but not necessarily on top of each other. The home comes with everything you need and we made good use of all the amenities. We particularly loved that the beach was SO CLOSE! And not only that, but it’s such a beautiful beach. We enjoyed staying just outside of Puerto Viejo away from the hustle and bustle. Thank you for allowing to stay and enjoy your home!

This was the perfect place for us to stay as we explored the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. We spent time on the beach, had cocktails at the lovely Banana Azul a 3 minute walk down the beach, rented bikes a 5 minute walk away at Pura Rides and biked a 30km beach hopping route to Manzanillo and took tuk-tuks to and from the main drag of Puerto Veijo where the bars, shops and restaurants are. Regarding the house - some standout things: 1) incredible check in process and easy communication with the property manager via whatsapp. It was all super slick and transparent. 2) The pool seemed small when we first arrived but it was the BEST. We went in every day for a nice cool off plunge after hiking, biking and beaching and 3) the location - PERFECT for nice relaxing mornings hearing the waves crashing and just a little 5 minute tuk tuk to Hot Rocks to party or Luna Mays to shop! LOVED every minute!

Anniversary get away

The house is right across the beach from a road. The road is not heavily trafficked, but you do hear it. Both upstairs rooms are the same with their own bathroom. You can hear the ocean from the rooms. View is amazing. Neighborhood is quiet. There is a small grocery store by the Hotel Banana de Azul. Good place for drinks and food on the beach. Puerto Viejo is about 1.25 miles from the house. You can ride bikes, or just walk.

Loved the property

We had a wonderful time at Casa Luna House. The property is beautiful and well maintained. We loved the outdoor spaces and it worked out well for us to have the separate rooms downstairs, it gave my daughter and her partner privacy while I was upstairs with her teenagers. The only issue I had was that the coffee pot was unusable. The wet coffee grounds hadn't been removed from the previous guest and it was covered in mold. A through cleaning was needed. Having the beach just across the road and the constant sound of the waves was wonderful. I also really like the close access to a little store as well as the charming hotel Banana Azuel for occasional meals. I would recommend Casa Luna House to everyone.

I had mixed feelings about this property. I will start with the positives.The location is great and host communication was excellent in the beginning. The house is situated close to town and adjacent to the ocean with a partial view of the sea. The home was nicely decorated with essentials provided. Two stories with a clean pool and very spacious bedrooms. A nicely furnished balcony and pool area with lush landscaping. The bedrooms had air conditioning and this is a must as it is extremely humid and hot day and night during our stay. The negative sides of the property: Yes, it’s close to water but there is a busy noisy road just behind the home in front of water and it is very loud in the early morning. The adjacent home close to property has loud barking dogs every morning, sleeping in is quite difficult. I would still rate it a 4 to 5 star except for our last night there. The carbon monoxide detector in my bedroom went off at night , I had to open door and window to get it to stop. Obviously i was afraid to sleep in the house. I contacted host but they were unable to resolve the issue by text and said it was probably a malfunction and not to be concerned. After sending the loud alarm video via a video to the host, I was told it was probably a malfunction. Unfortunately it would go off repeatedly,I was forced to sleep outside and wish someone would have come over and checked the property.

We sincerely apologize for the stress caused by the detector issue on your final evening. Guest safety and comfort are extremely important to us, and while there is no indication of an actual carbon monoxide source within the home, we understand that the alarm itself created an unsettling experience late at night. In hindsight, we understand that the situation felt much more distressing than intended, especially late in the evening, and we regret the stress it caused during your final night at the home. The detector was a multi-function unit that had been installed primarily for smoke detection, and following your stay it was immediately inspected and replaced as a precaution to ensure everything was functioning properly moving forward. Casa Luna is located within a vibrant residential Caribbean beach community just steps from the sea. While the home is not located on a main road, the sounds of tropical nature, neighborhood life, and the nearby ocean are all part of the authentic experience many guests come to enjoy. We truly appreciate your balanced feedback regarding both the beauty of the property and the areas where your experience could have been better, and we are genuinely sorry that your final night impacted your overall stay. Beach front privacy

Although we were one couple, the property offered plenty of space for three couples. We opted for one of the upstairs bedrooms as it was convenient for the main kitchen. The AC in the bedroom(s) was greatly appreciated. Cooling dips in the small pool were also a huge plus for us. Likewise covered deck offered welcomed outdoor space even if it rained. The property is within walking distance to Puerto Viejo town, but not close enough to be disturbed by nightlife. The road between the house and the beach was surprisingly busy in the day but much quiter at night. We would fully recommend.

modern and charming beach house - wonderful caribbean lifestyle!

We stayed 1 week in the Casa Luna Beach House and loved it! This place is soooo relaxing and cozy. The house is very well equipped, ideally situated on Playa Negra and it offers a fantastic beach view. We loved staying on the terrace and listening to the Ocean. The little pool is very welcome on hot days. Casa Luna has the best beach front location and it is in a quiet neighbourhood. Nina, the property manager, leaves nearby and is a very kind person, very helpful, absolutely reliable and always available for guests needs. We had a car and everything is easy reachable. The house feels very secure and we felt just like home. Thanks Louise and Nina for hosting us. It was a real pleasure and we already miss Casa Luna.

The neighborhood is tucked away, and the beach feels private. The beach stretches as far as your eyes can see and it is so clean, no coral, or seaweed, it is pristine! We are surrounded by nature, and the constant breezes from the sea.

We love Casa Luna Beach House because it's steps to the beach, located in a beautiful community and is one of the most private homes in the area. There is a small road between us and Playa Negra Beach front. We adore sitting on the balcony in the evening listening to the waves and jungle sounds that surround us. We love walking for miles on and empty beach in the early mornings with our feet dipping in and out of the surf. It's such a peaceful practice where we can reflect and unplug. The magnetic qualities of the beach and the healing qualities of the sea combine on Playa Negra, offering a profound healing grounding energy.
