Great for two families.

2025: We remodeled. All new exterior and new carpet in the house. Pictures will be updated by end of May.

A-frame style lake cabin (8 beds) with large outdoor space and 108 feet of shoreline. Cabin is 1,954 sq ft. built in 1996. Farm Island lake is 2000 acres with 13 miles of shoreline approximately 2 hours north of the Twin Cities, near Aitkin. Managed as a walleye lake with excellent fishing, including crappies, northern pike, bass, and panfish.

The space:
- Great space for 2 Families.
- Large open space yard for playing Badminton or yard games, Fishing from Dock, Canoe, Paddleboat, 2 10ft kayaks and small fishing kayak, Porch with picnic table, Gas Grill, TV & Blu-ray Player, PS2, Stereo, Wifi, Board Games and Cards. Great set-up for two families.

Guest access:
- Dock, Paddleboat, Fishing Kayak, Fire pit, Badminton Net, Bocce Ball Set, Horseshoe Pit, Gas Grill

Interaction with guests:
- Call or Text with questions during your stay.

Other things to note:
- 2 public boat ramps on the lake, fishing boat rentals on the lake. Kayak, Standup Paddle board rentals available in nearby town.
- This is our family cabin please treat as if it were your own.

House Rules:
- No smoking
- Not suitable for pets
- No parties or events
- Check-in is anytime after 4PM
- Check out by 12PM (noon)
- Self check-in with keypad
- No shoes in the house
- Quiet Hours at 10pm to respect neighbors
- No frying of bacon or fish in cabin. Please use gas grill or electric fryer outside.

You must also acknowledge:
- Must climb stairs - Basement and Loft
- Security Deposit - if you damage the home, you may be charged up to $300

Cancellation:
- Cancel two months before check-in to get a full refund. Cancel up to one month before check in and get a 50% refund (minus service fees). Cancel less than one month of your trip and the reservation is non-refundable.

Brad’s home is located in Aitkin, Minnesota, United States.
Cabin is located on a peninsula with paved road access. Common place for bike rides and walks during the day.

Great Summer Cabin!

Our family of 5 had an excellent time. Great weather most days made lake time super fun! Kayaks and the paddle boat were a big hit. House was great too. Several times our kids said "This cabin is awesome!". The neighborhood is great too. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect family getaway!

Brad was a great host, answered all of my questions and communicated with me throughout the stay. Property is great. The lake is beautiful! We spent most of our time on the water since we brought our boat with. The shore was clear for swimming and even the dock was great for fishing! I would give this stay a 10/10 easily!

Perfect cabin with lots of toys!

We couldn't have been happier with the Holst cabin! We especially loved all of the extras: paddle boat, canoe, kayak, life vests, kid fishing poles, pool table, ping pong, badminton and tons of board games... I'm sure I'm leaving some out! The yard was flat with lush grass and the house was spotless. We liked the privacy the cabin offered along with the ease of access to a few decent restaurants. The lake was a great size too. We hope to come back one day!

Amazing location

We had an amazing time at this property while on vacation with our family of four. The house was exceptionally clean, and plenty of room to spread out! Beautiful location on the lake with plenty of fish to catch! The house came with everything we needed to be comfortable. I absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a lakeside vacation!

Something for everyone!

We had a relaxing time. Fishing from the kayaks, swimming, walks, Badminton, ping pong and carpet ball. We didn’t do the basketball or pool table since we have those at home. A baby snapping turtle somehow made its way onto the top stairs heading towards the driveway. A friendly chipmunk was curious about us visiting. We had nice weather too. A beautiful cabin with everything we needed. We Appreciated the washer and dryer the last night as the kids left all of their wet suits and clothes in the basement shower. Thanks for allowing us to stay!

Relaxing weekend!

We so enjoyed our long weekend at this home! The owner, Brad was very attentive when we had a couple questions and the home is situated in a very quiet neighborhood. We brought our boat but didn’t need it for fishing as we caught many Sunny’s off the dock! The home is very comfortable with plenty of sleeping spots! The kitchen was fully equipped with dishes and plenty of room to allow a few cooks in the kitchen at one time! We will definitely plan another trip to this cabin as it was a perfect place to relax and enjoy a quick getaway as it’s not a far drive from the cities!

Absolutely Perfect - Not One Issue

We booked this cabin for a "Guys Fishing Weekend". We had 6 guys all mid 30s. There was not one thing that we had an issue with. House was great - lots to do inside and out! We had some luck fishing and enjoyed sitting by the fire in the evening. The home is private, with a huge yard and had everything we could need. Remove any doubts booking here - one of the best I've stayed at! Thank you!

Good location, decent house.

Good location, large yard for games, nice boat dock. House could have been cleaner, had mildew in the basement shower. The gas stove flames were minimal, even on high, took forever to cook. House could use updating throughout.

Wonderful Week

My family (wife, 3 grandparents, 2 young children) and I had a wonderful week at this cabin. Everything is as described and pictured. The cabin itself is nice and well stocked with everything you should need. The yard is HUGE. We had fun playing frisbee, bocce ball, and horseshoes (all there for your use). Near the lake there is an excellent fire pit which we used most nights. The beach area is small, but it was just fine for our young kids. There is a great sandbar on the lake that we visited a few times to get in a little more swimming. Brad (host) was quick to respond to a couple notes I sent him. Overall the cabin is a great place to stay and our family had a memorable week. One additional note: we rented a pontoon for our stay from Bay Lake Marina and that was a good experience too if you're looking for a boat to rent during your stay. They deliver it to the lake for you and the pontoon was very nice. Don't hesitate to book this cabin.

Great place on a great lake near the Twin Cities

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - house was perfect for our needs with 5 adults and 2 children (ages 1 and 3). Rented a pontoon boat for the week from Bay Lake Marine, which was perfect!

Beginning of June

We enjoyed the huge yard for kids to play yard games. It was far enough from the water, I didn't need to worry about kids getting too close to water whem no one was looking. The kids enjoyed the paddle boats and Lily Pad and fishing off the dock. Everything was clean and organized. It was nice that the cabin had towels, bedding, kitchen utensils, etc. We had a wonderful time, beautiful lake.

Perfect home away from home!

The Holst Cabin was an amazing vacation rental for our family of five. We used the house as a base camp of sorts for many fishing adventures for our family. We played in the kayaks and paddleboat at the house and made good use of the pool table downstairs. I highly recommend this cabin to any family. The location and its amenities made our trip one to be remembered for many years to come. The propane pit outside and the gas stove made cooking a pleasure. The owners made our stay and checkin as easy as it could possibly have been. We didn’t want to leave!

Fantastic Fall

We had a great time at the property. Beautiful back yard, sturdy dock, and amazing lake view. House was great and our large family of 6 had room to play and not feel cramped at all. Our family thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The boats and fire pit were a definite hit. The back yard is full of birch. Gorgeous.
