As an added bonus, the scenic walkway over the Davis Canal at 29th St is even closer than the beach and provides a wonderful opportunity to view the island’s wildlife, including foxes, herons and other shorebirds, deer and more. This walkway also provides easy access to the Oak Island Rec Center, where kayaks can be rented to explore the island's waterways. You're also only a two-minute drive from Heron Lookout Park on 40th Street.
