This is an outstanding property, well located in central Perigueux and well equipped to the point of being luxurious. The host communicated with us very well on VRBO, and the person who met us at the apartment was very friendly and helpful. (The limits to her English and our spoken French made for some communications challenges, but overall, we managed everything nicely.)The primary reason for giving four rather than five stars is the complicated access situation, especially for someone with limited mobility. The secure off-street parking is a huge plus; however, the only direct access to the apartment from there is an outdoor spiral staircase. Even without mobility issues, this staircase is problematic for transporting luggage, groceries, or anything else. There is indeed an elevator; however, one must go outside the secured parking area, around the corner, and through two locked doors to get to it. The elevator itself can only carry two adults at one time, with little or no luggage, or one adult with one large suitcase.Putting the access issue aside, we found virtually everything to be outstanding. We particularly recommend the local restaurant Hercule Poireau, near the cathedral and an easy walk from the apartment. We also enjoyed the Saturday outdoor market, which set us up brilliantly for some delicious home-cooked meals. And, for history buffs, the Vesunna Gallo-Roman history museum is a must-see.
