A magical and peaceful place on the Caribbean Sea of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. The Magic Moon Beach House is set in a spacious tropical garden just steps from the quiet beach.

For those who don't like to compromise on their vacation, this big beach house has two stories. Upstairs, it comes with a master bedroom with a king size bed and 1 other bedroom with a queen size bed. The bathroom is located between the two bed rooms. Downstairs is a bedroom with a queen size bed and a private bathroom adjunct.

The terrace extends across the entire front of the house, because you'll want to see and feel the the ocean and its fresh air. Also, the house was designed so everyone has space to read, play and listen to music, play and lounge without infringement. You can even crank down some transparent protective shutters when the breeze gets too breezy.
Our fully equipped kitchen has everything you need including filtered water to drink. From the kitchen as well as the terrace style living room, you have the most beautiful view over the Ocean.
Take a warm shower (if you want), lounge on the terrace or check your internet and feel secure with safe and trap door storage room.
Further conveniences: phone, fiber optic internet 5G, ceiling fans, maid service, laundry service at 8$/load upon request
It's perfect to enjoy a long term stay or a week in a spectacular setting.
Since you are connected to the world through the fast FIBER OPTIC Internet, you can bring your computer and work while living in a natural paradise! Discounts negotiable for longer periods (min 2 months).
This is an ideal place for couples, families, groups up to 6 people, nature and sport lovers, with a 2 mile long secluded beach right in front of the house where you can run, surf, swim and take beach walks!

This a great family house- super location for access to the beach. Area felt really safe. House is beautiful and rustic. No screens on the windows but there are mosquito nets in the beds. The gardens are gorgeous and the open air deck and living are was lovely.

April visit

The property was very nice. Very close to the beach and close to town. We did go into town (which I enjoy) more then in previous visits due to it's location as we were farther away the other two times. The grounds were beautiful and enjoyed walking around and looking at things. Maid was very nice and really worked hard to keep it clean. We enjoyed talking to her.A couple of suggestions. Maybe another chair would be nice. The couch wasn't too useful for us. For some reason all of us found sitting in the table chairs to be uncomfortable. That was odd and I'm not sure why. Please replace the fire extinguisher. It's extremely outdated and I'm sure wouldn't work. I was told that we could call local numbers and the caretaker on the phone in the house. It doesn't work. I tried using it but got nothing, therefore my rating of contacting the caretaker. Finally, small thing but it would be nice to have a knob to be able to close the door on the front bedroom. If we weren't inside the room we couldn't get the door closed. These however did not deter our enjoyment of the house and we would likely stay there again if we return to Puerto Vijeo which hopefully we can sometime soon as we really love it there.

On the beach

Great stay. So close to the beach and near the center of puerto viejo, but not in the crazy noise of town. Plenty of room for 7 people. Indoor/outdoor combined area is awesome. Definitely has bugs and was hot but ceiling fans were great and netting around the beds was helpful.

Close to everything

We had a great stay! We have family living in Puerto Viejo but needed a place for a group of us to stay during a visit. The property manager arranged to meet us upon our arrival to show us around the property. That proved to be very helpful. The pictures are very accurate but don’t capture how wonderfully tropical the property feels, filled with lush landscaping. As with most properties in the area, it was gated and fenced. You have to walk across the street to the beach but can see the water from the open air living room. It is my understanding that the road was only recently paved, which adds some noise. But it really not an issue as the wave sounds and breeze from the beach are your background music. I like that the property was in Playa Negra. Puerto Viejo itself is packed with restaurants and bars …and people and cars and bikes. It was nice to have access to that but stay outside it. The location was a good jumping off point to explore the beaches in the area, waterfall and nature preserve tours and more.

Ceiling Fans and Sea Breeze

Absolute perfection for a wonderful Costa Rican stay. We aren’t into staying at fancy hotels but prefer to stay in houses. We enjoyed the quiet location across from Playa Negra. The breeze was perfect at night and we all slept wonderful!

Magic Moon at Playa Negra

This is a incredibly beautiful property with ocean access right across the street. Location was easy to get to and well cared for. The cleaning professional was an absolutely wonderful human who did an excellent job and took care of laundry as well. Additional amenities not noted in the listing were beach towels and drinking water as well as filtered water for showers. The house practices were eco friendly. My one minimal critique is with the initial communication from the property caretakers/owners. I did not receive any info or communication from them prior to arrival about check in. I had to do the outreach for this myself via a phone call as they did not respond to texts through this app. However once we were connected on WhatsApp there was no problem. Upon arrival caretaker was very informative and extremely helpful. To anyone interested in staying you should make sure your WhatsApp is working. Tuk Tuks are the best method of travel as well as scooter/motorcycles and bike rentals. There are two small grocery stores in walking distance as well as a restaurant at the Banana Azul Hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The local towns are all worth visiting. Delicious food can be found everywhere and all the people we met were extremely welcoming and helpful. Over all I would I would highly recommend this home to others. My group had a wonderful experience staying in this magical place and it was very hard to leave. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful home, would stay again!

Lovely place, clean and exactly as pictured. Check In staff were really friendly, as were all cleaners and gardeners we met. Property could've been slightly closer to town, but there were shops and a restaurant within walking distance, and only 5 minute cab ride to town centre. Beach directly across the road was amazing and pretty quiet, a benefit of not being in the town centre! Overall, really enjoyed our stay!

Best trip ever

This property was outstanding. It was just like the photos that were displayed. The location to the beach and the banana Azul resort down the street were also great. We had a minor problem the first night that I called Joseph about and he responded out that same morning to fix it. The communication with property management was perfect. Everyone in my group agreed that this vacation could not be beat. I would highly recommend this property, even though I am afraid that it might make my ability to rent it in the future more difficult.

Peaceful and relaxing

Beautiful deck, you just fall in love with it. Very close to beach and excellent restaurant. Sad, that they still did not replace the frying pan. No potato peeler. The kitchen utensils are lower then what you can buy at a thrift shop store. One cabinet door was falling off. For the money we paid it was a disgrace. The door downstairs was extremely hard to open and impossible to get out without a key from the inside. We did enjoy our stay, but way to expensive for the way the house is maintained. Too basic.

Lovely handcrafted wooden home

Interesting, unusual and fairly comfortable home, although couches, beds could have been a little softer. In a neighborhood on somewhat busy small road. Black beach is conveniently across the road and almost deserted. Stormy weather in Jan (wet season) so no sunbathing. Favorite beach is further down the road at Punta Uva. Kitchen had enough dishes but only one wine glass one champagne flute, one brandy snifter. Pots, pans are old with Teflon coating peeling off. Alejandra, housekeeper is friendly, kind and efficient. Anja who welcomed us perfunctorily was having mobile and internet problems so was not readily available to us. A decent stay, all in all...

Beautiful beachfront property!

We had a magical stay in this property. The house is lovely we enjoyed having the beach right in front . I loved sleeping and hearing the sound of the waves crashing in the ocean. The house is super well equipped. It had everything we need and more.

Costa Rican Paradise

Wonderful place to enjoy the rain. Outdoor living makes you feel like you are in the jungle but cozy and dry. After the rain stopped the proximity to the beach and town is awesome. Beautiful black sand beach in front and plenty of other beaches each with their own character within driving distance. House was clean and just as pictured.

A tropical paradise!

Our stay at Magic Moon was absolutely perfect. This is a traditional Caribbean, open air house with living area, kitchen, and 2 bedrooms upstairs, and a bedroom with a double and a single downstairs. Our group of 7 fit perfectly. All the beds have mosquito netting but we barely saw a mosquito. We loved listening to the pounding surf ( just beyond the beautiful garden), the frequent rain, and all the amazing jungle sounds ( instead of an air conditioner). The fans and tropical breezes made us comfortable. Even in July. A sloth huddled in a tree outside our bedroom window. We enjoyed making breakfasts in our well-supplied kitchen, but our main meal was amazing at the hotel/restaurant just down the beach called Banana Azul. The staff was wonderful as well. I recommend this amazing place to anyone who wants an authentic, pura vida experience on the Caribbean coast.

Beautiful property, great location

We had a wonderful time at Magic Moon House. It is nicely decorated and stocked with enough modern kitchen equipment. 6 people sharing the house, plenty of room, close to the beach and walkable to town. Two bedrooms and big living space upstairs and private bedroom and bath downstairs. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. We felt very safe. Banana Azul right down the road is very convenient for a quick bite to eat or drink and a place to book tours. We would happily return.

What a lovely vacation house in paradise!

My husband and I vacationed with two other couples at Magic Moon for 10 days, and absolutely loved it. The beach is just a few steps away, and we slept soundly every night to the sounds of the waves. The beds were comfy and the the bedrooms and kitchen had everything we needed. The huge outdoor living room/verandah was where we spent most of our time at the house... it caught every breeze and had a sea view. There were towels for showers, and also lots of towels provided for taking to the beach. The blender worked great for making smoothies and pina coladas from the fresh fruits that were so abundant in the area, and the freezer made plenty of ice. The bottled water dispenser was kept stocked, and the housekeeper came every other day and cleaned and made beds and provided fresh towels. The house and driveway are within a secure fence. We went in February and the weather was PERFECT. While we explored many of the area beaches, we loved hanging out on the beach at the nearby Banana Azul hotel a few minute's walk away, being served drinks and relaxing in their comfu beach chairs. Anja, the property manager, took AMAZING care of us. In fact, one of us left a phone behind when we checked out and left for the airport, and she graciously mailed it to us in the US. Only cons: The toaster needed the handle held down in order to work, but I'm sure that as soon as I remember to mention that to Anja, there will be a new toaster for the next renters! We would definitely stay here again.

Laid back vacation on the beach

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the Magic Moon House for our holiday in Puerto Viejo. Located just outside of town, it’s a nice beach walk, or a sort car journey to get what you need from town. The open air deck at Magic Moon is simply unforgettable. Truly a world class spot to relax and unwind.

Fantastic!

We stayed at Majic Moon from Aug 26 - Sept 1 2018. I can't say enough good things about the entire experience. Anja was very helpful, responsive, and accommodating in every way. The house is great. Very open , large, well appointed, and comfortable. The grounds are immaculate and you can spend hours just walking around the yard enjoying the nature. The beach is directly in front of the house and you will listen to the waves (and many other animal sounds) as you fall asleep. Wonderful. Location is perfect, far away enough from town to enjoy the peace but close enough for easy access. Definitely will be back and highly recommend.

Relaxing in the hammock on the porch is one of the best things in life! Super helpful staff that came running when we locked our keys in the house. Hotel Banana Azul right down the street allowed us to use their facilities while we stayed... best vacation rental ever!

Magical!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Magic Moon House! Anja was extremely gracious and accommodating and Alejandra and Silver were both delightful and extremely helpful! The house itself is stunning and the gardens are absolutely breathtaking! The living space is well thought out and there was plenty of space for seven adults. We enjoyed lounging on the balcony, watching the waves and the toucans and butterflies and hummingbirds! The beautiful beach is literally a one minute walk from the front door across a path and through the coconut trees. It was like having our own private paradise! We cooked a couple of meals at the house and it is well equipped for meal preparation. The ice maker and blender were especially handy! Most of our meals however were eaten in town. Puerto Viejo is a ten minute bike ride from the house and it was very nice to have six bikes available to rent at the house. The beds were comfortable and the mosquito netting a very nice and necessary touch! Overall it was a perfect experience and I hope to return soon!

Close to Puerto Viejo town, but still far away to get the right jungle feeling. The beachfront location is probably our most favourite benefit as it is so nice to be able to go for a swim, just steps from the house. Puerto Viejo area also offers a lot of great activities as well as nice restaurants.
